Chap.. All we have here is a mutual back slapping excercise ...... I did this, my mate did that, we tried this, someone told me that...and now it is apparently accepted truth..there is NO science here, and yes...like for like I am not convinced at all. My experience says this does not make sense, but I am happy to be proved wrong if you can show me something more than a backyard test of 2 rifles! There are far too many variables, nobody has properly sized pellets and barrel, hot and cold air from springers and PCP... bull***t...compress air and it gets hot, barrel efficiency, length,

Several Organisations offer insurance...be very careful what you actually get!! BASC is probably the best, especially if you qualify as a Game Keeper...read up on the definition....also a lot of experience and good backup. But SACS does appear to offer good value!!

Wow ! Have i upset you ? The post started off as someone who had a negligent Discharge That point has been addressed What did you expect from Edgar bro's ? Help, consideration and answers.. Help did you want ? The gun was replaced. The barrel blew up, the barrel was replaced..the new barrel didn't fit, the whole gun was then replaced by another faulty one!! Explanation ? They were not there and it passed proof so how can they offer an explanation ? they TOLD me it would go back to the Proof House and be tested...they have avoided all ways of giving me an answer!! Compensa

Help me understand this one ...why would you want to pay the money for the Striker 170, promptly take the lamp out and replace it with a 50w. Why would you do this when the Lance has a 50w lamp to start with and is cheaper! Why do Lightforce go to the trouble of making these 2 units when apparently if would seem a much more cost effective option to simply offer a Striker with 50w or 75w lamp! Or simpler still...a dimmer switch so you have a massive light option!! I simply don't get this. I run a Deben Max 50w lamp and would never consider a Lance. If I wanted more I would get

You cannot buy direct from Edgar Bros..you will see that on their website ..but you will also see their dealers listed as well!! Unless you are of Olympic standard I doubt you will notice any difference in performance of 16 or 20 inch barrels!

and you have not stood next to and Escort Magnum at the moment the barrel decided to let go!! ........And bad tools cause injury and/or screw up jobs!! :thumbs What planet have you turned up from...I went out of my way to be conciliatory with the Escort and with Edgar Bros and simply got s*****d on. Edgar Bros have offered NO help, NO explanation and NO compensation...their total contribution is..."if you don't like it take it back"! The Choke was tight as attested by the Dealer (a shotgun CHAMPION) and Edgar Bros, and anybody could also see that from the part of the ch

Flippen 'ek John, thats an expensive way to buy gun mounts.. or is it just a cheap way of buying spares to keep One Lightforce working
-
Yes John, agreee with you there...so do the Deben ones, but that doesn't help a lot when you have 7 rifles...a few extra are required unless you want to change them around all the time..a real pain in the backside especially if you change rifles during a cold wet, windswept night...at £3 a piece for the permanent screw on metal mounts (not the plastic push ons) it's easy with the Deben (6 extra scope mounts on the Deben for less than the price of one on the Lightforce), they are also a lot smaller and simply live permanently on my rifle scopes Obviously only worth considering if you have

You need to control the individual who hung this lot in trees which simply encourages Sciurus carolinensis and Rattus norvegicus!!!

The Lightforce 170 has a 75w lamp and "rated" to 600 yards...if you want that, it is better than the 400 yard beam you asked about..if you don't why buy it as the battery life is shorter or you will have to buy a bigger (heavier-more expensive) batter pack to support it. Personally I would only consider the 170 if I wanted to push my range out a bit, the Lightforce 140 has a 50w lamp, same as the Deben Max, the Max wins every time here for me!! I also have 7 rifles, all with permanent scope lamp mounts for the Deben Mini/Max...Scope Mounts available at £3 each!!!! (pm me I will tell y

how did you make a living out of your hobby ?
Deker replied to ferret boy charlie's topic in General Talk
Lots of info, lots of courses and potentially lots of help here.............. http://www.bpca.org.uk/home.asp?parent_id=1 -
To be fair a lot of the CZ Certrefires are OK-good .........BUT the RIMFIRES offer an excellent selection, excellent performance and excellent VFM!!! Nothing wrong with the Sako Quad but look carefully through the marketing and make your choice...hell...I ordered a Synthetic Quad HMR earlier this year but you will never believe it, GMK had no stock...time passed and the CZ Silhouette in HMR arrived in the UK...the rest is history as they say....!!
-
hi, could you give me a link to the cz .17hmr in Silhouette or Style previously i had thought they only did american or varmint thanks Got my CZ Silhouette HMR from Sportsman in August..probably the first sold in the UK...I understand the Silhouette and Style and both now available in HMR in 16" and 20" barrels...have a word with the Sportsman..... http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/ Any problems talk directly to the importers and UK Distributor......... http://www.edgar-brothers.co.uk/ORIGINAL_SITE/

Any law will only work at the consent of the majority...when a law has as many holes in it as this one it has little or no chance of being upheld...nodoby knows what to uphold!! The whole sorry episode is a disgraceful waste of public funds designed to appease a few tree huggers, ill thought, ill conceived, ill informed and illogical! Ban CARS...100,000 fox killed on the roads every year, many of then dying long painful deaths after collisions!!

Absolutely..if you have all this land then you arguably have cause..list everything... The Met are a funny lot...the second largest Firearms authority in England with an apparently great diversity of opinion/view...I have had cause to deal with the Met on behalf on a number of different people!! Reality is, just the same..the Met are not in the habit of handing out Open FAC's on first grant to 17 year olds!! How long have you had a SGC??
-
Help me out chap, I am very curious after your comments......what were these BIG ADVANTAGES, of the Quad?? ..on the basis you paid £280 for the CZ and rate it...spot on out to 200yds, easy to clean, easy to use, easy and cheap to upgrade trigger Cheers if your new to shooting (or like the flexibilty) and don't really know the pro's and con's of each caliber, the quad offers the flexability of changing parts rather than the whole rifle to shoot different caliper rounds, .22RF, .22WMR, .17HMR and .17 Mach2 Didn't say the best or in any way better than any other rifle, the above

Well, I for one know very little about the Weirauch HMR so I would be interested in peoples comments here!!

a workman with crap tools. in any case unload before climbing over anything, could be your foot next time or worse Its not the tools that make a workman, good tools just make it easier to do the job. And bad tools cause injury and/or screw up jobs!! Cut a straight edge with a bent saw, build a level wall with a cheap spirit level, drill a hole with a chinese Bit, etc, etc!! Buy an Escort Shotgun and you will understand!!!! Bent saw is a damaged tool ! Most spirit level are cheaply made and in china ! Where do you think most drills are now made ??

...and away we go again...well the fox Hunts with horse and hound go on and the fox still dies...difference is I get a call, they tell me hunt days and how many fox they want and I go and shoot some fox..the hunt people then make a very unpleasant mess of them, stick all the bits in a sack and go for a walk round the fields with them.....so that ban was all very worth while!! That's the way to proverbially raise 2 fingers!!!

The Tracer mini is rated to 250yards...the Tracer MAX is rated to 400yards! I have the PRO version of BOTH (the dimmer switch units). I think it's Uttings that is doing the Max Pro kit for £99 at the moment, lamp, dimmer switch, charger, 7.2ah battery, scope mount, carry pouch, and last time I saw a "free" red filter as well! These are not the greatest quality lamps but as far as I am concerned they are the best value for money you can buy and very capable!! And if by any chance you do have a problem, Deben will fix it, or supply you ANY parts you need to fix it!! The Lightforc

Is the £500 JUST for the Gun, and what do you want to do with it?? yes just the gun and vermin shooting only no need for a scope got one Anschutz would have been the obvious response, but put simply save yourself some money, CZ, American, Silhouette or Style, all now available in HMR and all a lot less than £500!!

You may well get a mixed response here based on the chemistry and physics and opinion!!! The vast majority of powders on the HMR will be burnt by 14 inches but that isn't the whole story, you probably won't have any problem with a 14inch HMR and may well love it, but I would not be happy below 16inches! My .22WMR is 14.5 inches, but that's the way it was, it's OK for sure, but I would still be happier if it was a little longer!! My HMR is 20"...little bullet, no weight...nice long barrel to stabilise it and point it in the right direction!!..Works for me!!
