Not many have the skills/experience to snare, or even trap if it comes to it, the obvious answer is a rifle, but that isn't an option here either apparently, life would be easy if it was simple!
-
Unfortunately the post above is correct, a fox (or deer) could walk clean through the pattern of SG at 50 yards. These carts are awesomely devastating but you need to be real close!
-
The debate continues... if the carts mentioned are No6 then that is too light in my opinion for 30-40 yards!
-
Sorry chap I have to take issue with that, after use I always clean my centrefires and their mods and reasemble the rifle/mod, it then goes back in the slip and straight into the cabinet, muzzle/mod down, ready to grab and use next time! NEVER had a problem, and neither would anyone else if they did that!

You were still thinking about what to write on your variation on 30 Dec and got your FAC back on 8 Jan?! Pity a few other regions can't do that!

Whatever floats your boat, there are thousands of scopes out there and we all have an opinion! You were right in an earlier post, you do not have to spend a fortune on a scope for a .22lr, but if you want to then fine. You can also have a big debate about magnification and reticles. Many of the inexpensiveve scopes have remarkably good glass these days but tend to suffer in the overall engineering/build quality! Just the same I'm sure you would have been happy with anything in your original list on top of a .22lr! ATB!

Someone said it above, LENGTH of cart is an issue with Hatstands as well as load. Get a longer cart and it may work, or get another make of gun altogether, Edgar Bros have a massive pile of Hatsan returns, but the newer models aren't quite so bad!
-
As others have said there are almost certainly better ways, but given your question...... A 12g is perfectly adequate close range with a decent load, my view is somewhere between 3 & BB, and 40 yard max, better at 30! I've put down rabbits at 60 with No5 but that isn't a fox! A light load is unsuitable at anything further than the end of the barrel, let go at a fox 30-40 yards away with 7.5-8 and the odds are you will prick it all over and it will run off to possibly die a slow painful death! I seldom use a 12g on a fox these days, actually I don't remember the last time, prob

Fox tail perserving. Any ideas?
Deker replied to bunnybuster.ie's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
It's like de-gloving a finger, the skin is joined to the rest of the tail, it doesn't just slide over the top of it! The detail and reason is not easy to explain but if you watch someone or try yourself you will understand much better! Even with the sticks you can pull and pull sometimes and then it just lets go, some are easy, same are a real struggle- 35 replies

Fox tail perserving. Any ideas?
Deker replied to bunnybuster.ie's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Wood works for me, but it can still be a bit of a technique and can take a pull as well........ and the fox always looks very strange afterwards!- 35 replies

Centrefire rifle won't Hold zero
Deker replied to Hunter123456's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Chuck away whatever laser/bore sighter you have. Check everything is mounted tightly and put down a 3 shot live group and check results! -
Fox tail perserving. Any ideas?
Deker replied to bunnybuster.ie's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Works for me also, but I always wash the meths off Atb Yea it matters not pal, but you don't need to. I expect their are many different ways. At. I always shampoo the tail afterwards with delicate baby shampoo, it cleans it and leaves it in better condition in my estimation, dry VERY slowly afterwards to keep it supple!! Optionally finish with the shotgun cart as shown! EDIT USED Shotgun Cart!- 35 replies

Sadly not, I'm the one you would have to pay to take it away!

Looking for a reliable rimfire for some bunny bashing, been advised to go with a second hand ruger 10/22..... (presumably by someone who has one for sale  ) Should not be in the same sentence, nothing wrong with the 10/22 but semis, especially used ones, and reliable are not synonymous! Plenty of good used Bolt Action about at very good prices!

she is wasting perfectly good brass!!!
Deker replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
gonna buy the resizing die anyway just in case i find some free brass if ur still up for a tip up leeds. i was taking the pi$£ about the brass lads. a few quids worth of bass is nothing compared to the cost of running a chopper and the whole experience looks worth the money spent. however i was hoping some of you might have picked up on the ethics of the methods used. Where do we get off on ethics , we take every advantage we can in the field, 4x4's, Quads, rifle, ammo, lures, camo, etc etc etc etc...would have been better if she could shoot straight though! -
I thought the point of the EU was for the UK to support all the Europeans who wanted to move here, and the ones that didn't we would simply pay VAST sums of money to the EU to support! How did we get here from the Thread Title?

Alli GEOFF.223 has really covered it above, most people can bore sight by eye close enough, and whatever you use you will need to finish with live fire anyway! I run 8 FAC rifles, I'm Secretary of a Fullbore Club at Bisley and I have no need for a Laser Bore Sight. But the choice is yours! Zero at the distance you expect to be shooting most of your quarry!

Needing some advice on which rimmy?
Deker replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The HMR shoots flatter and is FRACTIONALLY more accurate than the WMR, but the WMR in 30g V-Max is very flat and accurate and carries approx 70ft lb more out of the barrel than the HMR, so that maybe 3-5mm difference in accuracy at 100 yards is more than made up by calibre size and energy! As for a prehistoric looking round , what do you think the HMR is based on, and talk prehistoric, when did you last look at a .22 Hornet Cartridge, but what have looks got to do with anything? -
Needing some advice on which rimmy?
Deker replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
£15 for 50 hmr, they must have seen you coming! You are paying £17.50 for 50 .223. Admittedly I buy in blocks but that's nearly £3 more than I pay, and if I wait for the inevitable offers, nearly £5 more!!! very little difference in price in terms of performance, as you know .223 will eat up 4/5 times the range of the hmr, and if you already have a .22 whats the point in buying a gun that can only go a extra 50/60 yards when for the slightest bit more get a gun which can shoot 500 yards more?????? its a pointless calibre UNLESS u could get 500 rounds for £25 like the .22...... -
How have you for on with it as Edgar brothers wreckon cz's are slightly choked at the muzzle and shouldn't be cut down. A lad I know did his own with a hacksaw when he was a kid and it shoots ok but is nothing special. I have heard and read this several times, and I am yet to find someone who has been able to measure this and I am yet to find anyone who has had any problems after cut and thread, (except botched jobs of course)! A rumour put around by Derek I believe...unless anyone can show us all different!

Deker replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
You will only get opinions here... The HMR is better of the two for your quarry, and as for a CF for bunny/hare...forget it! That's my opinion! ATB! -
I bought some of the first batch in the UK, had to go to the Beretta Gallery in London for the privilege. They are certainly not for me, overpriced and inconsistent, for whatever reason they didn't seem to stop well either.
