  1. Is this an original grant or a variation? Variation could take 3 months without much trouble, Grant could take a year! Calling them 30+ times in 3 months is daft, that is every 3 days from the time you sent it in, allowing 6 weeks before you chased (not an unreasonable time), that means you have called them every other day. Chill out! Edit Just noticed NI, I'm not so familiar with the process there, so the comments above may not be entirely relevant!
  2. Ha ha, don't you just love forums...... Scopes and reticles just get so personal, whichever way you want to look at it. The S&B has a well deserved reputation, but I take foxes and deer from probably about 10-250 yards, so, variable works for me!
  3. Odds are you will need some written land permission for your FAC. If your family run a Pest Control Business you will need to show the police it is a business and they may be more accommodating. You can apply for and should be granted ANY Firearm you can justify. I never get hold of terms like "17hmr for vermin and sub 100yard fox" , why do people do this, you don't apply for "a .243 for fox and sub 1000 yard deer"?
  4. We shoot off a bipod and have no problems! Had over 150 foxes with it in 2 'seasons' Are we talking the Hogue stock? I hate the thing with a vengence, but I am not aware of any problems with them, most owners seem to quite rate them from what I can see!
  5. Ho Ho Ho, a lot of people posting here who don't post anymore! :hmm:
  6. Get a good one you are fine, a bad one you aren't. On the whole they are good reliable well priced guns, some of the barrel threading/crown has been terrible though, UK Custom shop used to do them all then.
  7. ...and never rely on eye colour for identification either, you get some surprises sometimes!
  8. I remain sceptical, I don't deny it, yes, there are ammo problems and care is required. HMR ammo problems are well known, widespread and often debated. Can ANYONE post a picture/link to a blown up HMR barrel, with this much ammo grief one would expect this would be easy to find? Cheers!
  9. Appearance and reality may well be different, many animals including rabbits, fox and deer etc will often twitch for a while after a well placed head shot. Rabbits are notorious for leaping about all over the place without a head! Many will tell you Deer will commonly run all round the countryside after a heart shot, but not with a headshot! The simple reason being you have disrupted the nerve systems and erratic electrical signals are being blasted all over the body, they are dead.
  10. I'm not trying to be funny and I am well aware that there are issues with HMR ammo, one of the reasons the US no longer sells semi versions and posts warnings. BUT, they are 245ft lb and go through barrels thick enough to take a .308 @ circa 2500+ ft lb all day! I am not trying to belittle any firearm or ammo problem, all of which must be take seriously, but did you actually see this HMR with a Blown up barrel, and where was the hole and what dimensions was it, what happened to the shooter?
  11. Without being privy to the pertinent information that i'm sure NiteSite would consider sensitive (more so if the profiteering I suspect is the case) I have no other avenue available to me but that of speculation by way of reason and logic using the comparative evidence available to me. The free market does indeed mean I have a choice what and from whom I wish to purchase goods. You mistake my case as some form of vendetta, I assure you it is not. My motivation stems from the perceived repetitive extolling (on this and other forums as well as in the 'comics') of the virtues of a product
  12. It's a fair point but one which very few have much knowledge or understanding of in the early days...and some in the latter days as well!
  13. Prices between about £1,600-8,000 for Starlight NV products if my memory serves me correctly. I have NEVER said that NiteSite is THE BEST in the market, and it is not suitable for some, but it does offer an excellent product at a very competitive price, which, without doubt is much better in price and performance than many other NV products, and has brought NV to many who simply couldn't justify it historically. It is £599 remember! Sure, build something yourself if you want, it's a free country (ok perhaps it's not a free country but that is a subject for another thread) !! Or buy
  14. I'm simply not following you, you have an interesting turn of phrase which throughout has been based on assumption, we live in a free country, go and buy what you like, make what you like, sell what you like for whatever you want, EVERYTHING you have said could be levelled at MANY MANY products INCLUDING ALL of the MUCH more expensive other night Vision products on the market... Pulsar G2+ £1500, Cobra Tempest £8,500 and plenty in between, so why is your crusade against NiteSite with a product at £599. These products attract MUCH higher dealer margins £ and % than NiteSite. Anyone
  15. You crack on, its a FREE CAPITALIST country and you have every opportunity to go and make and sell your own product. ...and I have to say you obviously don't know the ccompetition, NiteSite has already taken legal action against one business for infringing copyright and another is out there as we speak with yet another copy NiteSite. That's business!
  16. I'm struggling to understand why NiteSite seems to be singled out for this tirade of profiteering and poor quality. They have come up with a new approach to night vision, it is probably the most versatile on the market, is easy to setup, can work VERY well out to 200 yards or more, can be used day and night on virtually any scope and is very much at the lower price of Night vision No, it isn't perfect, but it has brought nitevision into the realms of many who cannot afford the £2-3-4-5000+ of other night vision products, frankly a good number of which offer nothing like the versatility

  18. ALL makes are reasonably accurate and most are very accurate, you will of course find the odd dog of a rifle in the used (or new) market place though. It is almost unfair to suggest one manufacturer over the other and most peoples responses will be what they have, or what they aspire to, because that is what suits them, you need something that suits YOU! Basic decisions need to be made, what do you intend to shoot, what is the land like, are you driving or walking, is noise a problem, etc etc? I shoot on a lot of different land at a lot of different quarry at a lot of different dis
  19. bloody hell andy i phoned chambers where i bought the really expensive fcukin washer and specifically asked should i use SILICONE oil and was told definitely no i had to use thin engine oil WTF !!!! so now what should i do mate ? If I said ignore Chambers, who have been doing this for donkeys, sold you the part, and have a bigger selection of air rifle parts than probably anyone in the world, and told you to soak it in dog piss, then who would you believe? i'd definitely leave the dog piss out, but i'd believe andy, as he worked in the gun trade and has a very good reputation on
  20. Is that a JSR 6-24x50 on that? If you are getting that sort of accuracy and repeatability then rifle, pellet, scope and shooter are working fine!
