  1. Is there a difference, in what sense, where are you going on this? Wikipedia A footpath (also pedestrian way, walking trail, nature trail) is a type of thoroughfare that is intended primary for use by pedestrians, but not other forms of traffic such as motorized vehicles and horseback. They can be paths within an urban area that offer more expedient or safer routes, or rural paths, such as a trail through the countryside.
  2. As above, you really need to try different ammo to see what works best for you, your barrel and quarry. We say it all the time, what is laser like in mine may spray shotgun patterns in yours or vice versa! Even if you settle on one or two types of ammo now, try others again in the fullness of time as the barrel wears slightly, things can change!
  3. Triggers get very personal. My .22lr CZ Silhouette is original and fine, my last CZ WMR was fine, my latest CZ 452 HMR and WMR were awful and have had work. (my .22lr Magtech 7022 Semi has a trigger that feels like two pieces of sandpaper grating on each other and the pull lasts a fortnight, but the groups are remarkably good). My lads CZ .22lr Style is not good to me but he loves it. Don't rush into anything, get used to distances, ammo, quarry anatomy, terminal effect, scopes, reticles, etc., etc., before you go making wholesale changes to the gun! ATB! Advice appre

  5. I think you are missing the point...he told you did he or are you just assuming?
  6. ....so what trigger does he have in there at the moment then?
  7. Of course there not! You need to know the anatomy of your target species of course, don't just go throwing bullets at the body mass. Although as the calibre/energy/bullet type become more destructive even that can be allowed at times! For instance...... one bullet........... That is not a shotgun, it is one round from a .243 and as we picked it up, for clarity it is/was an adult rabbit, the rest of it is spread over several counties! What is important is stopping the quarry/pest species, head shots on some animals are positively frowned on, deer for example; except by the Game d
  8. 60 yards zero with Magtech subs was 100 yards zero on CCI Velocitors in mine in years gone by. It isn't difficult to use 2 different types of ammo in the same gun without changing the scope, various reticles make this quite easy and all you need is a good memory or note book, others stick labels on the scope/rifle! Just the same my .22lr has been a dedicated sub tool for many years.
  9. I agree, I was thinking the same last night I would only be confident to shoot accurately up to 60m (for now anyway). I will try out some other similar ammo perhaps some eleys. Understood fully about not adjusting the scope, just trying for better grouping. It will be interesting to see if I get good groups at 75m. (will report my findings). I will also try some shorter distances with the winnies. Cheers... It's a .22lr kicking out circa 100ft lb with Winchesters, (these have a BIG HP and expand well, and commonly impart all their energy in the quarry), it isn't a 12ft lb a
  10. Exaggeration is common with Landowners about the scale of the problem (although not always). He is the landowner, he is the one that gives you permission or pays your wages, do what he wants or walk away!
  11. Tricky, as some people do have a use for them, but as above, and it doesn't really take long to reload! ATB!
  12. I'll have to ask the FEO where he got it from then Hawkeye Don't take it to heart, you will not be the first who has had duff info from their FEO and "fu**ing half wit" is very descriptive of the previous guy I had, and no doubt many others as well! Some FEO spout off with the authority of their job in the CERTAIN knowledge that few will have the balls to challenge/question them!
  13. Rimfire If you are talking about a .22lr dedicated sub sonic tool, then it quite straightforward and not required on a daily basis. HMR and WMR (did anyone ever buy a 17HM2) is more akin to centrefire cleaning. Yes, there are lots of kits or separates and solvents etc., available. Many topics here in History and may be worth a look.
  14. There is all sorts of information all over the web about this, and from memory about 34 degrees gives you the longest range, there is no definitive list as there are so many types of cart and gun............. and wind, altitude, atmospheric conditions, etc., need to be factored in. 300 yards as mentioned in this thread is a GUIDE figure that I have known about for as long as I can remember, but it is just that, a guide, there are no Laws about this to the best of my knowledge!
  15. Ok, good to know. I was just looking for some peoples experiences given what they use them for. I've not come across lighter variants but happy to have some mentioned so i can look at those online. Use will be foxes and hopefully some deer later on calibre 243 Within most manufacturers model ranges there will be heavier and lighter barrels and stocks, commonly, but not always, Varmint will indicate a heavy barrel, some of the laminate stocks are quite heavy as well. For Example T3 Varmint and Lite, Rem700 SPS Varmint and Stainless, Howa1500 Varmint and Sporter, etc., in all cases
  16. I'm not sure what you are actually expecting as a response, there is nothing wrong with any in the list. From time to time any rifle will have a problem and you will always find someone who says XYZ is the best rifle in the world and someone who says it is the worst! There is not enough Specific detail on each model to give a view, but it seems you may be looking at heavier models, no doubt if that is the case you have your reasons, I don't need/like/want any heavy rifle these days. Get what you need to do your chosen task!
  17. We all have a different agenda here, my guns are work tools that get used socially from time to time. They are tools to me, I get what I need to do my work, simple as. Just the same I look after them, that doesn't mean they are love objects, I keep my chisels sharp, my bait boxes clean, my traps in good working order, etc., that doesn't turn them into objects of love, but well functioning tools!
  18. I have a reasonable bit of Lamping kit and Nightvision, I don't actually see one taking the place of the other, BOTH systems have their uses...regardless of the state of your eyes!!
  19. Where did that come from? Cheers! rules about shot fallout mate. Fact. Ask your firearms dep't . Rules...... FACT, what fact? I take it you mean rules like a .22lr not being a fox gun! I don't make the rules , i'm only telling you what they are. The fact is , the 300 yard rule exists. Don't question me , ask the firearms dept like I said earlier. As for a .22lr , I wouldn't know anything about that. Why do you ask ? Chap, I'm not looking for an argument, I hear all sorts of baloney on forums and it is best to prove or disprove asap or rumour gets

  21. Learn something new everyday, I wasn't aware that for the purpose of that Act, it only included highways for use by vehicles. I'll post it as a pinned thread when I have two minutes http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/270438-built-up-area/ Keep up SS, #4! Edit, been quoted a few times before that as well...... I can see it back in 2010 at least!
  22. You are thinking too much, reading too much and looking for problems. The CZ range will do anything and more that you will ever want in the field. Chill out, if the trigger isn't clever there is plenty you can do about it, BUT loads of people don't, because it is fine for them!
