Application Completed (At Last)
Deker replied to Tornado1979's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
What did you expect? Why bother asking the BASC if you intend to ignore them? -
As someone else said the Wildcat P8 (and others) are not small. Many seem unaware of the P8 COMPACT version, I was originally. The Compact version is still not small, but it is a LOT smaller than the full version and if my memory serves me correctly is about 170g Lighter as well. I have them on my .223, .243 and .308 now and they work just fine. CentrefireSet 002aEdit.jpg Deker is the compact version as quiet as the standard version? I had the full length originally, the tube you can see is from it, I bought all the parts to convert my original one to COMPACT. It w

The factory "May" sample test the rifle, not many fire every one, and that will be ONE shot most likely. The proof house will fire 1 shot max out of your rifle, but they to are known to sample test a batch. It is infinitely possible your brand new rifle sitting on the shelf has never had a bullet through it at all, that's why many manufacturers tell you to clean all the delivery wax/oil/muck out of the barrel before you fire it!

Not many regions will accept a Cannon as an all-round rifle to keep costs down, for all pest species, as good reason on a first grant.

My understanding is that AOLQ was introduced due to the daft situation of Scottish Keepers/Guides/Stalkers being out after the deer with big calibres not being legally able to shoot fox that were after the Grouse/Pheasant whatever if they saw them. It is not necessarily a free for all condition, although perhaps a strong argument could be put forward that it should be if you are granted that calibre anyway! ACPO etc are looking for better standards of uniformity across all the regions, so who knows, but don't hold your breath!

End user Interchangeable barrels are simply a tweek of the normal manufacturing process. Don't be fooled into thinking the manufacturers are doing you a favour. Many comments have already been made about this facility, and you can add to that, what do you do when you want to take out your lad with the .22 whilst you have the HMR? No doubt some people have a use for this facility, but the Quad started this trend and the vast majority of Quad Owners treat it as a single calibre rifle!

You will find MANY rifle breaking in suggestions on the web, here is just one.... http://www.rifle-accuracy-reports.com/barrel-break-in.html Do what you like, you will get every comment going from, waste of time to essential. Who is right? The way I see it a bit of time and effort up front will do no harm and may well do some good, ignore advice and just shooting it may do harm. No brainer I see, I break in all my rifles, even .22lr, my rifles all shoot better than me. Your choice!

Ferret if you have the money go for a 10 gun cabinet, so you have plenty of space, no doubt you will get a more guns and it will prevent you clattering them about, especially if you have rifles with scopes.. If you have the space and finances get the biggest you can day 1.

Small light weight cheap to buy and what i was really looking for and was also recommended by a friend. Edited, misread post originally!

Yeah, get another Cabinet. First off there are very few 1 gun cabinets and with a FAC you will need to store the ammo separately anyway. Taking a scope off every time you put a gun away is not clever at all, even if you have specific detachable mounts!

I know, you have just seen Shooter on Freeview and you're going to try an empty plastic coke bottle! I was thinking more an empty oil filter ah no I just meant I had a better idea of what a moderator is and what to look for, thanks again. Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you had invented an improved sound moderator!

No, that doesn't make sense in the great scheme of things, try 500 buy and 600 hold, that is more sensible. For clarity as above #5, that means 600 TOTAL at any one time, so when you are down to your last 100 you can go and buy another 500 if you want. You can apply for whatever you think you can justify, you may well be asked why you want the quantity you have asked for so have an answer ready, and 500/600 is a sort of OK quantity for most people, some have more some have less!

http://www.shootingtimes.co.uk/guns/253448/Fullbore_sound_moderators.html This may give you some ideas, there isn't much to chose between them all in sound moderation, just size/weight and price. Most people will simply tell you what they have is BEST, whatever best may actually mean!

I really don't have the energy to go round in circles. Lets just agree to disagree on this one. I believe HMR is ricochet safer, you believe .22 is perfectly safe and on the occasional times that anything exits is the shooters fault. Case closed. That isn't what I said! Please do NOT misquote me, I have never made any such blanket statement that .22 is perfectly safe and on the occasional times that anything exits is the shooters fault.

There are a LOT of people here who haven't shot anything like that quantity in their whole life. 10,000 a year equates to approx. 27 a DAY, EVERY day of the year, that is a LOT of rabbits, there will be very few that achieve those numbers. I don't shoot 27 rabbits every day of the whole year, that is just a silly comment. if you had any experience of shooting rabbits on a large scale as I and other pest controllers do then you would appreciate that 90% are shot at night using nv and when I say night it isn't just a couple of hours, it is normally dusk till dawn. some nights obviously

Alsone, I have had ricochets from .22lr and I'd guess in probably 90% + of the situations I would put it down to user error, ie me, I do not blame the tools, I blame the person who chose the wrong tools!

Of course its not uncommon, I shoot many hundred every year, where I struggle is with the comment I can't think of a single occasion where a .22 LR slug stayed in the cavity even with long range shots. I never said that, not my quote. You appear to have questioned my response though, my apologies if that was not aimed at me. It wasn't and if you haven't already gathered from my now numerous posts, I don't make personal attacks. Well maybe if someone gets overly personal but that's very rare I'm a very laid back individual. A round that fragments is much safer than a ro

Anything else you would like to change, you didn't say ANY of the above until this post, what you said was....... "I can't think of a single occasion where a .22 LR slug stayed in the cavity even with long range shots" "You do an excellent job of coming accross as a book smart, condecending prick in most of your posts Deker" Some make it easy, but you will find I can usually spell and VERY rarely have to resort to abusive language.

So, back to the topic. IF more Winchester are passing clean through the question has to be WHY. On the basis they are still (on the whole) sub sonic it is not speed. Has the bullet design changed, is the HP smaller, is the bullet composition/materials harder, etc? Any offers, I don't actually have any of the new packing/new manufacturing plant ammo yet, so I don't know!

My mate is very experienced he has an open ticket on all of his rifles right up to and including his 30-06. Having an Open Ticket doesn't mean you know what you are doing, for instance, how many different types of .22lr ammo does he use? I've seen both
