Thinking Of Applying For Fac
Deker replied to Plummerterrier's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I don't remember as it was a long while back, but its main use is Canada Geese and Fox so I guess that probably had something to do with it, I have never really seen the WMR as a rabbit gun, although it has certainly dealt with plenty, I can't remember the last time I took it out specifically after rabbit. HMR was no doubt longer range rabbit (over and above the .22lr). I also use my guns for a living so that may have some bearing on my requirements. ALL my rimfires have been conditioned for Fox as long back as I can remember, even the .22lr, but for the past 4-5 years ALL my rifles -
Thinking Of Applying For Fac
Deker replied to Plummerterrier's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Cheers for reply.. I have thought about putting one on a ticket... What FAC air did you have and what lets them down ?? Nothing lets them down if you need one. You are talking the wrong language, you have to access your requirements, if that is a FAC Air rifle then they are superb, if it isn't you don't need one! Yep, money wise they tend to be expensive to buy new, and don't hold their value well, so that's a Bonus, just buy a used one. I run 12ft lb, FAC Air, 2 x 22lr, HMR, WMR, a selection of centrefires and several shotguns....I need them all, not everyone does! -

£150 brand new and usable straight out of the box, what's not to like? Remember this is a Mossberg 702 which under that name cost £100+ more. -
What Savage, and better than what gun? Sounds to me like he it trying to shift stock he has had around for a while! Out of the box the 10-22 is guaranteed to be the least accurate, but frankly this is an issue that gets far too much air time and the difference for general field work isn't worth talking about! Finding the right ammo for all of them will be far more important than the inherent small manufacturing difference in their accuracy. I had a 10 round string in 1.7 seconds at Bisley at 100 yards with my Magtech Semi, and they all hit the black! You need to make a basic deci

Shared Cabinet For Shotgun Licence Holders

Ha ha. A little fun dig there Deker? Ultimately what the Op does is up to them and certainly daily (or twice) is excessive . However, it pays to keep tabs on these things at least within the notice period as its very easy for one person to buy an extra gun and intend to tell the other but forget or never get around to it and if then there's a firearms visit and its not been declared, one person is in breach... If you have an understanding officer, you may be OK. But if you have someone who's pedantic then it could be anything from a formal written warning to prosecution at the hars -
JFK will be an on going what if and who done it long after I'm gone. But all this bull about bullets and effect is just that, I have had incredibly frangible bullets go clean through wildlife and struggled to find any holes and Solid/FMJ blow animals/inanimate objects apart. Most definitely some bullets are more likely to cause massive trauma whilst others are more likely to pass through with a relatively narrow wound tract, but, Bullets do as they please depending on what they hit at what angle and speed and distance etc. Lets not start on the it was a XXXX bullet so it couldn't h

I have only ever had cause to use it on one site, about 2.5 years ago I had a site plagued with Pigeon, we had netted, spiked, wired, proofed, trapped and shot, (even considered getting in the Birds of Prey) but it seems like a non stop job. I had heard of the Fire Gel before but never seen or used it, got some in and gave it a try and it definitely worked. Still have a Pigeon issue on the site but it is now managed/controlled to a satisfactory level. No idea about Crows but from responses above it seems to work for them.

Shared Cabinet For Shotgun Licence Holders

Shotguns are easy, just jointly list them all as others have said. The Police do next to nothing automatically, make sure you advise them of all shotguns held by you and your brother. Oh yeah, check the Cabinet at least twice daily just in case your brother has bought a new one and kept it a secret.   FAC may well be a little trickier, although the process is the same, deal with that IF the situation ever arises! nah my brother is happy with the gun he has got it was the first gun he brought and that was 10 years ago so he will stick with it -
I have used Romax Rat for several years, it works very well on the whole. Secondary poisoning is an absolutely minimal risk to cats/dogs/people/etc from any approved poison used correctly as their LD 50 is generally so much higher than in rats and mice! I have never used Romax Rat because of any concern for secondary poisoning, I use it because it works better on that given site than more common Bromadiolone/Defenacoum/Brodifacoum/etc baits, invariably because of resistance.

Cz 17 Hmr 452 American Floating Barrel
Deker replied to let'sshoot's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Whether or not screw tension is one of the issues remains to be seen but sooner or later those screws are going to have to be removed. They may be slightly corroded or just over tightened but you really do need to get them out. Make sure the screwdriver is a perfect fit for the screw and try and hold the gun in a vice to leave both hands free to hold the screwdriver. Using the correct size screwdriver for the screw head is half the battle. Unfortunately using penetrating oil to try and help release the thread might stain the wood. If you were to damage the screw, they can be replaced with -
Everyone rates the 10-22 CZ is definitely better and so too is the Anschutz out of the box, neither is likely to win any beauty contests but that is not what they are about. You are not going to get anything much out of a Semi, and in truth very few people have a Genuine need for one over a Bolt, but some want one, why not, I have both. As regards accuracy and reliability then this is a good as any, the trigger is useless but in punches tight enough groups and works. £150 Brand new, threaded and open sights ready to go, I just added a bit to mine!

Ha Ha, yeah, I'd actually say the CZ, but as for best looker...you ever heard of Specsavers!

If my memory serves me correctly the front and rear screws in the trigger guard hold the stock to the metal, the other screw just helps hold the trigger guard in place. -

2 screws hold the metal and wood together, that's it. There are no springs that come flying out, look at the parts diagram in the manual, it could hardly be any easier!! -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Thread_Standard Get your slide rule and calipers out, there are a few above. A very common thread for many rifles is 1/2"UNF, but if it was cut it could be anything. Where did you get it from, ask the seller or dealer, they should know!

Badger sett near by. Any time I baited a live catch trap with dog biscuits I'd have a feckin black & white in in the morning. Ha Ha, yeah, and some of the birds like them as well. I often use the biscuits in domestic gardens, the small stuff like the old Pedigree Chum Mixer, works a treat and no mess or smells or dead rabbits bodies for the residents to get upset about. Spread a few around in an area and you have the foxes undivided attention for a few minutes whilst you pick your shot. It's also great to not have to keep checking an area during the evening, you just wai

Mine was not free floating and never would have been had it not been for my intervention. The cutout in the stock at the front of the action was too deep and much of the barrel was contacting wood. I filled the cutout and remounted metalwork. If you take the stock off its easy to see where! Gun is completely free floating now from the action and works a treat. Mine is the American WMR but the action is the same as the HMR! PS, who knows if this is your problem but it will take a screwdriver and 5 mins to find out! EDIT This did not need any sanding or further wood r -

Tikka offer a number of rifles, nothing wrong with any of them and we all like/want different things, the Super Varmint is all tricked up and in my opinion doesn't know if it wants to be a target rifle or a field rifle, but is working hard to be a target rifle, I'm sure it will shoot straight. If you are happy with the weight then a fine choice. I have never made any secret of the fact that I don't like heavy rifles for field work, and at circa 2lb heavier than the Lite and 1.5lb heavier than the Hunter, the Super Varmint is heavy, I'm a complete tart and after an hour or two in the fi -
New 2013 Home Office Firearms Guidelines

The printed version is now available but a revision is aready due for Dec so I'm waitng for that before I order a copy! There are LOTS of changes, but also bear in mind it is a GUIDE! -
There is little reason in the majority of cases to take long shots at foxes anyway, they are easily tracked and baited on the whole..... and generally the only foxes that have a chance to get wise are the ones you miss!
