  1. The HMR is a Superb Fox calibre, as is a .22lr, WMR, Hornet, .223, etc etc if you use it as required and within your capabilities. NONE is better than the other, some are better in different situations that's all. As for not being up to it if you make a poor shot, the same could be said for any calibre. You shoot any calibre within its capabilities, that means bigger calibres can shoot further making the odds of a bad shot as much, if not more likely, than lower power at closer ranges. No calibre is better than any other calibre on foxes, they are just better/worse in some circumsta
  2. Are you seriously saying the wording for your HMR condition on your FAC says CLOSE RANGE FOX? And what distance does your FAC go on to say is close range or is that simply left to you??
  3. That just goes to show how barrels each have their own preferences. My T3 Hunter .243 is fine with PRVI 90g SP, that is its main diet, 1" all day. I'll be more than happy to relieve you and anyone else of any 90g PRVI they can't get on with. Cheers You can have my privi's not sure what the correct way to get them to you is? I dont think Im meant to post them. for £12 a box prob not worth the hassle. do you ever come to Bath? Unfortunately that is an issue isn't it, I should be over Marlborough way before Christmas, is that close? Cheers

  5. Did you change the spring, I'd guess you can get to 3.5lb with the original CZ spring?
  6. Back in the day when I used HV in the .22lr my CZ really liked Remington Yellow Jacket HP, they were 1500ft sec and about 32g I think, they worked well but supply was an issue. Second choice, and much more commonly used, was the Velocitors. They are relatively powerful for a .22lr and did work quite well in mine, but the HP didn't expand that well (compared to the Yellow Jacket) and there were plenty of times they went clean through the fox hardly noticing it. As HV goes in a .22lr I found them pretty good though!
  7. It was a few years back now at a Council owned Nature Park. Around 172 removed in total and 91/92 in the picture I seem to recall. The picture has been all over the world and featured in many magazines! The park was overrun and they were decimating everything, so numbers had to be reduced, anyone could have done it in the circumstances, just happened to be me that got the job! Back to the topic.............. ................... the Magtech 7022 is a cracking bit of kit for what it is! there was a member called loumick selling one on here a while back including mod/scope and

  9. Its not exactly rocket science when you get them apart is it, frankly they are basic engineering! Keep an eye on it, the wooden stocks do move, hot/cold/wet/fog/frost etc.! Its an idea to take them apart now and again to clean and get a thin film of oil over the hidden metalwork. Trigger now hey!
  10. I would imagine they would be better for squirrels and corvids. That are at a further distance ?? Were it would be reckless/dangerous to use Lr ?? FAC Air can go anywhere opposed to 22lr needs signed off for each bit of land ?? What do you use your FAC air for Deker ?? What model and FTlb is it ?? Not a lot, but odd jobs crop up, birds usually, pigeons in underground car parks, warehouses, factories, offices, supermarkets, barns, etc., squirrels sometimes, not often the need for it on rabbits as I use the other tools, but if you don't have other tools it will definitely give
  11. I have 2 of the old Deben Lead acid battery traditional gun mounted Lamping kits, one has a 12v 50w Xenon Bulb rated to 400 yards (a tiny bit generous) and Nightvision. We are living in an age of rapid change, some of the Torches today are incredible and getting better all the time, and in some cases night vision is excellent and prices are getting into the realm of the masses. With regards the clu-lite shootalite, does anyone actually have one, how the hell do they get a 1000m beam out of a 12v 50w Xenon Bulb...or is that advertising baloney? Complicated market place today, good l
  12. Never had the cause to try but it makes sense at the right time of year!
  13. I would buy a box and try for what they cost. I haven't used them for years but they were as good as any in mine, the odd bang and the odd thud, and in my CZ they did chamber tight, but so did several CCI varieties!
  14. I'm really not sure of the story on these, the original Philippines model was excellent VFM and sold steadily for years at around £200-£210. Then it all went tits up, production stopped, Chinese copies turned up and their reputation went down the toilet. They are available again now and made in the Philippines as well I understand. That is the story as I know/see it, if I have bit wrong or someone can fill in more detail that would be great. I don't normally carry these but I can offer Brand New current production models WTC 3.5-10x50 Super Nightview at £160.00 including deliv
  15. I don't believe there is any wholesale requirement to rush in and play with/change/get kits for, the trigger on the CZ rimfires. We all have different expectations and requirements and safety comes into it as well, the trigger kits can take the pull down to less than 0.5lb which is way to low for me to feel comfortable in the field. My CZ .22lr is on the original trigger and is fine, my original WMR was fine, but both my HMR and latest WMR were awful, so both got the Brooks kit. IF you consider you need to play with the trigger I believe the Brooks (other kits are available) is the
  16. I don't remember as it was a long while back, but its main use is Canada Geese and Fox so I guess that probably had something to do with it, I have never really seen the WMR as a rabbit gun, although it has certainly dealt with plenty, I can't remember the last time I took it out specifically after rabbit. HMR was no doubt longer range rabbit (over and above the .22lr). I also use my guns for a living so that may have some bearing on my requirements. ALL my rimfires have been conditioned for Fox as long back as I can remember, even the .22lr, but for the past 4-5 years ALL my rifles
  17. Cheers for reply.. I have thought about putting one on a ticket... What FAC air did you have and what lets them down ?? Nothing lets them down if you need one. You are talking the wrong language, you have to access your requirements, if that is a FAC Air rifle then they are superb, if it isn't you don't need one! Yep, money wise they tend to be expensive to buy new, and don't hold their value well, so that's a Bonus, just buy a used one. I run 12ft lb, FAC Air, 2 x 22lr, HMR, WMR, a selection of centrefires and several shotguns....I need them all, not everyone does!
  18. £150 brand new and usable straight out of the box, what's not to like? Remember this is a Mossberg 702 which under that name cost £100+ more.
  19. What Savage, and better than what gun? Sounds to me like he it trying to shift stock he has had around for a while! Out of the box the 10-22 is guaranteed to be the least accurate, but frankly this is an issue that gets far too much air time and the difference for general field work isn't worth talking about! Finding the right ammo for all of them will be far more important than the inherent small manufacturing difference in their accuracy. I had a 10 round string in 1.7 seconds at Bisley at 100 yards with my Magtech Semi, and they all hit the black! You need to make a basic deci
  20. Ha ha. A little fun dig there Deker? Ultimately what the Op does is up to them and certainly daily (or twice) is excessive . However, it pays to keep tabs on these things at least within the notice period as its very easy for one person to buy an extra gun and intend to tell the other but forget or never get around to it and if then there's a firearms visit and its not been declared, one person is in breach... If you have an understanding officer, you may be OK. But if you have someone who's pedantic then it could be anything from a formal written warning to prosecution at the hars

JFK will be an on going what if and who done it long after I'm gone. But all this bull about bullets and effect is just that, I have had incredibly frangible bullets go clean through wildlife and struggled to find any holes and Solid/FMJ blow animals/inanimate objects apart. Most definitely some bullets are more likely to cause massive trauma whilst others are more likely to pass through with a relatively narrow wound tract, but, Bullets do as they please depending on what they hit at what angle and speed and distance etc. Lets not start on the it was a XXXX bullet so it couldn't h
  22. I have only ever had cause to use it on one site, about 2.5 years ago I had a site plagued with Pigeon, we had netted, spiked, wired, proofed, trapped and shot, (even considered getting in the Birds of Prey) but it seems like a non stop job. I had heard of the Fire Gel before but never seen or used it, got some in and gave it a try and it definitely worked. Still have a Pigeon issue on the site but it is now managed/controlled to a satisfactory level. No idea about Crows but from responses above it seems to work for them.
  23. Shotguns are easy, just jointly list them all as others have said. The Police do next to nothing automatically, make sure you advise them of all shotguns held by you and your brother. Oh yeah, check the Cabinet at least twice daily just in case your brother has bought a new one and kept it a secret.   FAC may well be a little trickier, although the process is the same, deal with that IF the situation ever arises! nah my brother is happy with the gun he has got it was the first gun he brought and that was 10 years ago so he will stick with it
  24. I have used Romax Rat for several years, it works very well on the whole. Secondary poisoning is an absolutely minimal risk to cats/dogs/people/etc from any approved poison used correctly as their LD 50 is generally so much higher than in rats and mice! I have never used Romax Rat because of any concern for secondary poisoning, I use it because it works better on that given site than more common Bromadiolone/Defenacoum/Brodifacoum/etc baits, invariably because of resistance.
