Just got a new computer and for whatever reason I cannot reply including the post replied to, neither can I copy to a reply. I can read everything (I think) and I can reply, but I cannot link or include anything with the reply. Is it me, the computer or the site, any advice as to fixing this most appreciated. Thanks!

Advice Please Guys .17Hmr For Fox?
Deker replied to lfbfiremantom's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
"People shooting at foxes 200 yards away with a HMR are looking for trouble" This is what I don't understand, we hear this all the time. It shouldn't need saying...people shooting at deer 1000 yards away with a .308 are looking for trouble, so why do we need reminding not to overstretch smaller calibres? Shoot every calibre within your limits, the ammo limits, and the calibre limits. Easy! -
Nikko Stirling Illuminated Any Good

Ref#9 Field of View is dictated by internal lens arrangement, Objective size has little to do with it, a wide angle 40mm can have a much wider FoV than a 50mm objective. Like for like a 50mm objective will have a slightly wider FoW but allow greater light transmission than it's 40mm equivalent, that's why it is offered! -
Nikko Stirling Illuminated Any Good

I have shot in a lot of situations with a lot of guns pointing at a lot of different quarry. Whilst I have 2 IR scopes I have yet to find any reason to turn them on in the field! -
Just Purchased A Bsa Ultra In 22 Any Good/bad Experiences
Deker replied to DEAN R's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Mine went back to BSA twice for leaking seals and I grew a beard trying to load it. When it worked and I eventually managed to load a pellet, it was actually ok, but I still sold it! -
Odds are it is something simple or obvious, but not always easy to deal with via a forum, what you need is someone else to shoot it when you start shotgunning the target, this should show if its you or the gun, then move on from there!

Once you have it clean and zeroed, cleaning should make next to no difference in POI. I strip and clean all my centerfires after use, including the mods, put them all back together with no change of zero. Pretty obviously something is going wrong somewhere, could be rifle package, ammo, or you! Start eliminating, get someone else to try it, double check everything is firmly attached, change scope/mounts, change ammo, shoot off support, Bipod or preferably sandbags, don't clean it between zero sessions for the time being and see if anything changes, preferably one at a time! Did I rea

They are light, pointable, a joy to shoot and usually incredibly accurate. There are loads of these about still, which shows they are a decent tool, and helped develop the CZ brand in the UK. Fit is always important, but as a .22lr you should not have any much trouble adjusting to the gun, and if it becomes an issue, there are numerous methods of adjusting the gun to you!

We may be playing with words but for clarification. Various regions and various FEO can say what they like, the HMR IS legal for fox in the entire UK. Some regions, for whatever reason, will not condition some/all rimfires for fox, that does not make them illegal, it simply means you are not conditioned to use those calibres in your area, I can visit you and use mine in your region 100% legally.....Daft but true and legal!

I have T3 in .223 and .243, happy enough with both. The super varmint is a monster, far too heavy for me in the field, but we all like different things!

It's measured from the barrel, a moderator is a moderator, it isn't a barrel. The measurements in the legislation talks of Barrel. Screw a moderator on a rifle it does not become a barrel!
-
YES! It says........... any legal quarry suitable for that calibre. The Fox has NO legal restriction on any calibre, and is legal quarry, therefore it is suitable!

Advice Please Guys .17Hmr For Fox?
Deker replied to lfbfiremantom's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Well, that's the sort of thing that pisses off people, simple mistake and a prosecution warning, seems way ott though!!! My region have made NUMEROUS mistakes on my personal FAC and SGC and Club FAC over the years, at one point issuing me an AUTOMATIC Shotgun (not Semi). Perhaps they should concentrate in getting their own house in order, and when THEY are perfect they may have a case against others! -
Its not that simple, averages don't really help, there may be exceptional circumstances, either good or bad, just a few weeks to a year even! Best option is to ring your region and ask.
-
How old are you? Best of luck but I don't understand the question, is that a new language, Stalk is commonly associated with Deer, perhaps it's just me but put it simply for an old boy to grasp. Deer and .22lr?

Not sure what the date has to do with it......my last Club FAC went the whole term and I forgot to sign it, pointed out to me by my FEO at renewal, who kindly turned his back as I grabbed the pen! -

I hear what you say and I'm not defending anyone, I'm not Personally easy with 150 yards fox with the HMR, but then again where do we stop with the .243, etc.? I have probably taken a handful over 300 yards (.223/.243) but I know 100% a pal dealt with them at 400yards +, and of course there are anecdotal stories much further...is that cruel/irresponsible, where do we call a halt? Tricky, and just thinking out loud really! -

As I say many times, this will be down to situation and experience. I have taken numerous foxes passed 100 yards with a HMR, and plenty of bunnies passed 150 yards with it. On that basis there is a logical argument to suggest 150+ yard foxes are ok, but for whatever reason, I tend to stay a little short of that on foxes! Just the way I want it! -

Are you seriously saying the wording for your HMR condition on your FAC says CLOSE RANGE FOX? And what distance does your FAC go on to say is close range or is that simply left to you?? I wondered that as well, I wonder if you are required to lazer range find for every shot then incase it oversteps the mark by a foot or two, bloody ludicrous. Yup Never seen that before, is there actually a definition of close on your FAC? To be honest that is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen on a FAC, just what does it mean, my close, your close, police close, RSPCA Close???? -
What Calibre ? Shooting At Night With Lamp

A 12ft lb .25 can be an excellent Rat tool, but I don't see it as a rabbit tool. The age old debate of .22 and .177 will rage on forever, it certainly will not be resolved here. .22 for me! ....and God forbid someone says .20, why does everyone say its the best of both worlds, it isn't (or it would have caught on and taken the world by storm which it hasn't), its the worst of both, doesn't fly as fast or flat as a .177 and doesn't make as big a hole or hit as hard as a .22! Have a nice day! -

I see where you are coming from..... so in theory that makes the CF grant more likely! Flippen daft game just the same! Edit I'll be off in about 45mins to a Free Range Chicken Geese and Duck farm where Charlie tries to get dinner, its a regular gig, I keep shooting them but they keep coming year after year. The fox adapts to their locking up time throughout the year and turns up just before they head in for the night, and I know their routes, .22lr is the tool of choice for many reasons, not least because most are shot about 20 yards away! I'll be taking a scan round the whole -
Peanut butter is always first choice for squirrels, always works for me, general baiting or trapping!

Deker replied to lfbfiremantom's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yeah as CC said, some counties won't grant any rimfire for Fox. Personally I see that as an advantage. Each to their own, but you would probably change your mind if I was stood next to you totally legally removing foxes with my .22lr and your region flatly refused to grant rimfires for fox, as is the situation when I visit a pal of mine in the Midlands. Absolutely crazy...especially now, as the Home Office suggest HMR is a Fox calibre!?!
