I know it's a turn of phrase, but there IS a reason, you just have to find what it is. A bit more info would help, is everything clean and are all fixings tight? Are you using subs exclusively, or indeed the same ammunition exclusively. There is generally less shock on everything with a .22lr and subs than many spring air rifles. What happens when you get to 100 shots, do you just re-zero, or check mounts etc?

Commonly forgotten/ignored, but more than worth a regular clean to keep extractors, claws etc., working efficiently!

I appreciate the vote of confidence here but I don't pretend to be the Sage! Just the same, the .204 was never developed as a target calibre. The simple fact is any calibre can be used as a target tool, some are better at it at various distances for various reasons though. As mentioned, Bisley has max velocity and energy limits, and the .204/factory will be above these on velocity, of course you could download it but that will somewhat defeat the whole object of the calibre. Frankly, many commonly used calibres exceed Bisley 1000m/s (3280ft/sec) speed (22-250, .243, .223, etc.

The law has to be followed carefully in these situations, and even forgetting the law, common sense has to be employed! I deal with a lot of foxes in pocket handkerchief back gardens, often much less than 24 yards, neighbours will next to never hear a .22lr moderated sub, but I also use HMR, and very occasionally WMR in these situations as well, a one off crack is also usually dismissed or simply not heard. That of course is not a zeroing session, which will commonly involve several cracks! ATB!

As already stated it went back in 2007, and should have gone years before. My local Post Office didn't keep them so I always had to make a trek to my Main Post Office. After queuing for an eternity, it usually took forever to explain what it actually was, and commonly involved much discussion and debate amongst several PO employees. After much head scratching and deliberation, someone (or more than one) would disappear out the back for so long I thought they were on a coffee break...during which time I would start to stress about my car parking ticket, (I'd only paid for an hour in a

Everyones definition of a foxing rifle is different, so is their land, ability, distances etc etc. But there is nothing wrong with a .223 and nothing wrong with a 527 either. A good shooting pal of mine who is also now a team GB shooter bought one of these a few years back......cheap as chips, as they say, but it performed exceptionally well! http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/364-centerfire-rifles-cz/KL/CZ_527_SYNTHETIC.aspx

I think I'm pretty much following everyone else, what makes you say the 204 cal looks pretty usefull...?????

You need to get out and zero at 50 yards (or wherever you want), then go back to your garden (or wherever) and check/note the first zero point. That is the only way to do it accurately, all the ballistic tables are simply guides, some are better than others, but none can do what your specific gun can. They commonly take no account of barrel condition/length/cleanliness/moderator/scope size/mount height/etc.

So much for my guess!

My money would be on Tikka, maybe Sako, but I can't see it well enough to say which!

As SS above, if it is the normal 5 year renewal it will almost always be Opened automatically, but worth asking for it to be opened anyway. Some regions are favouring the term Unrestricted now over Open, seems like playing with words simply for the sake of it to me!

Neil is well known for the quality of his work/guns, (yet he is far from expensive) I think it was 5 or 6 years back he actually made the F Class World Champions rifle. Whilst he works on, and shoots all manor of rifles, and does a lot of target and field work himself, he will tend to put match crowns on unless someone specifically wants something else. They take a little longer, and arguably are a more skilful job, and for what it's worth, I think they also look good. If you want a match crown then I would always suggest you ask for it specifically, many, (probably most) RFD will

This may help a bit but it goes back a while, there are other mods available now! http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/shooting/accessories/sound-moderators-for-22-rimfires-7960 The difference between pretty much all of them is marginal just the same, especially if you only use subs!
-
Probably costs the manufacturers another 10p to do it for each rifle so they save the money! Usually called a Match or Target crown! 014a.jpg 015a.jpg Mine looks like that! Well the one Neil did does. The picture is Neils work too!

Sounds like a feature of your 10/22. But all rifles can be fussy, even 2 straight off the production line next to each other can favour different ammo. The Winchester is a staple of the 10/22 (and the Eley), a pal of mine has had a 10/22 longer than I can remember and swears by the Winchester. Just a chance you have a bad batch, there have been some dire reports recently about Winchester production. If the gun is used then I would suggest a thorough strip and clean regardless!

The difference between a FAC and Airgun moderator can be nothing. There is no specific designated design differences. You need a slot on a FAC for a FAC mod though, you can potentially use any FAC "rated" mod on a non FAC gun (as long as the calibre is compatible) the reverse is not necessarily true, not all airgun mods are suitable for FAC rifles. If the mod is proofed you will need a FAC slot to use it, even if you put it on a 12ft lb air rifle. A SAK with a proof mark is a firearm under UK legislation, that same model SAK with no proof mark is not, but will become a firearm if you put it o

you had a good result then what ammo were you getting the best groups with I was using Eley subs. Neil usually cuts in a match type crown as well, did he do that on yours?

I am neither encouraging it or condoning it, and I think it is awful, but of course it works. It may be diminishing returns/flawed and innocents may suffer, but intelligence of some sort it often gained. Any report and any comments suggesting it is useless and never works are naive in the extreme.

The guy above is just off the M4 but i don't know if he's more or less than an hour from you. RG7 2AG. Ferrari, middle of the night, no traffic, roadworks or police and you have a chance in an hour! Joking aside, it has to be close to an hour, my guess would be just a few minutes over, but it depends where you start in Bristol of course! ATB!

Fair comment, but I have not had a landline for business or at home for about the last 12 years. Mobiles are easy, and despite odd problem reception areas, you can always answer them or return missed calls quickly. I don't have a receptionist and people are still reluctant to leave ansaphone messages.

I think you have misunderstood my post. If mole trapping was as simple as spending £15-£20 on a few traps how do you think professionals would ever make a living? You will not help the landowner or win any brownie points if you are there day after day catching nothing and simply making his moles more trap shy. I have seen it time and time again, my husband tried for weeks, our gardener had a go, the neighbour up the road tried, my mate told me how to do it, etc, etc,...... then they called a professional, who had a right job and charged more because amateurs had made their task a lot

Browning Buckmark V Ruger 10/22 ?
Deker replied to courser's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I think you have missed my point! I'm not questioning you buying a 10/22, I questioned why you bought a... "10/22 target heavy barrel... sounds like it doesn't know what it wants to be...there are far better target guns and far better rabbit guns!" For clarification, I have used one of these and it is ok as a target gun, but it will never touch a target rifle, and that barrel is a monster, who wants to carry that around the field, any fractional improvement in accuracy is pointless in the field, and probably more than offset by your fatigue, having carried around that lump!
