Crumbs...someone seems to be making a serious effort to catch/poach the fox!
-
If you intended to sell it or transfer it in any way then yes it would have to be re-proofed, The gunsmith is likely to insist on it before handing it back to you. It's to cover his back as well as yours. The old chestnut rears its head again.......... Unless something has changed recently there is no legal requirement to proof any gun for the simple act of shortening the barrel if you want to sell it. The phrase is materially weakened, or words to that effect, cutting a barrel has not, per se, been showed to materially weaken it. This debate has gone on for many years a

Seems a bit strange to me, are you sure this is nothing to do with the farmer/owner? Who's thing is snaring, especially poaching/snaring ...... and then not checking? This is not a widespread pastime in my part of the world? Just seems to have the odd question mark to me. Am I missing something?
-
I have to say I'm with cc here, but there are one or two who want to push the boundaries, and I can't really knock that ...(but just maybe they have too much time on their hands )
-
Alsone.......I think you need to calm down a bit. Be careful what you guarantee, and just how many people wonder into their local PUBLIC park with a starting gun of any colour and start letting rip with it to train their dog?
-
Nothing wrong with that, many people start rabbits with a Clay O/U shotgun for that reason, for many that is fine and always will be.
-
Most people use an O&U so don't worry about it. Not quite sure why people are trying to put you off them. A S by S is a good traditional game gun but apart from a few people on pheasant shoots you're unlikely to find people using them. I'd say more than 95% of rough shooters are using O&U. In fact a little known fact is that multiple world clay champion George Digweed does quite a bit of pigeon, crow etc shooting, with an O&U..... One of those rare videos: ..and shotguns were designed for rabbits and birds. There's no doubt that rimfire is cleaner but
-
To be fair that is a valid comment, I had thought about that as well. Whilst the shotgun certainly has a place for rabbits, I have to admit I reach for one of my rimfires FAR more often when after them.
-
:hmm: A 12g O/U is common for clays, but as regards punch that is more down to the cartridge. Many would use a 7.5 or 8, usually 30 or less for general clays. For skeet, a 21, 9 is not uncommon. Quarry work usually requires different cartridges and a 30/32 5 will work well for most rabbits, all be it noisy, which will possibly present other issues. Too much punch , well, if you use a heavy cartridge very close you will not have much bunny left to eat, but 12g is common(ish) for rabbit, and if it is particularly close and you want to eat it just aim off a bit, not too many face thi

...yep, what is that, is it a specific legal definition?

How Do I Check The Lb S On My Pcp Air Rifle

They don't need checking every 5 minutes, what is your concern? -
These..what shall I get.....threads are always a problem, nobody really knows what is in the mind of the OP, or their intentions, ability, land, etc. Personally I have rifles/ammo to cover pretty much any eventuality I am likely to encounter, and I have no use/interest in a .204. So for me the choice would be easy, the .223, ...(I already have one)......but others rate the .204 for their applications, so, as is so often the case with these things, one isn't better than the other, they are different, get what you think you want!
-
It's been revised, the latest version is in #6 above!
-
It's not big or clever, but I too have been there, many, many, years ago, that's why I can clearly and easily say, alcohol and guns don't mix, even air rifles and the morning after, absolute no no!

This Old boy is getting more confused, I thought the new type FAC was as walshie...has your region got it the wrong way round shropshire dan, or is it a lucky dip now?
-
Ok, bear with an old boy, the brain/memory cells are dying quickly at my age, on the New FAC (mine is still the old type) can you HOLD what you want but only buy a specified quantity? So we can all legally stock up vast quantities for the Armageddon!? Why did I think it was the other way round?
-
Did we ever get and answer/solution to the OP original problem?
-
Only if you put them in the right place, then virtually any calibre can, the issue is knowing where the right place is, you don't need a 12 to knock down almost anything!
-
Show a good reason to Open it ahead of the 5 year renewal, then keep your fingers crossed, it can be a bit of a lottery, but as mentioned most regions tend to Open it at renewal! ATB
-
when I asked the feo how long before I can get the ticket opened the quantity of ammunition used was quoted by him as a factor Every FEO and every Region has their take on this...certainly it may well be a factor, if you have had a FAC for a few years and used no ammo it may not look good, and as someone else mentioned here, if you have spent a day or two on a range you may well have used a lot. The FAC/uses must be considered, but anyone who suggests the amount of ammo used shows experience is deluded...just the same it can go a long way with some regions/FEO!
-
.243 V-Max, can't remember the distance but somewhere between 100-200 I think! and it was just the one bullet! That .204 is definitely a girlie calibre....
-
Obviously a girlie calibre........... .223 V-max, somewhere close to 200yards

Which Howa, is it really cheaper than this? http://www.czub.cz/e..._SYNTHETIC.aspx How much are these Deker? The Howa's can be had new for aa little as £495 Howa are good rifles for the money, no argument, but they will all cost more than £495 if you get anything better than the terrible Hogue stock! You will have to search and find the best deal for the CZ 527 Synthetic, but I would not be paying any more than £550, and you can use the stock it comes with, but it isn't the greatest in the world.
-
I've read great things about the Howa's, made in Japan to a very high standard. Only critisism I've heard is that the stocks need to be upgraded due to excessive 'flex' Probably the cheapest which is the Hogue stock, personally I think they are the most 'orrible, and worst stock I have ever used...but some people love them!
