Which Howa, is it really cheaper than this? http://www.czub.cz/e..._SYNTHETIC.aspx

Yeah no doubting he was an idiot for taking a shot without knowing where everyone on the land was, no argument. However, if the calibre hadn't been prone to passing through and then ricocheting, the bullet wouldn't have been coming at me in any event. So 50% calibre, 50% idiot. Only real saving grace with LR that no doubt keeps those accident figures down, is it's limited range. Do behave, that is an incredibly naïve, uninformed, tree hugger response, loads of calibres go clean through quarry and it is the shooters job to risk assess EVERY shot. There can be no blaming the am

The .22lr is by far the most popular/widespread civilian calibre in the world, of course there are accidents, as with any rifle/shotgun and I personally do not have a statistic source of accidents/injuries/deaths by calibre in the UK/anywhere. But I have been in this business since I was a boy, I get around a lot, meet a lot of people and visit a lot of sites/ranges, and I could relate far more incidents with other guns than with a .22lr, even back in the pistol days! Somehow, many people have a misguided concern about the .22lr, the calibre has well known/documented issues, so don't b

........and how many accidents/injuries/deaths do you hear about the .22lr? I must admit I've come with a guestimated 6ft of being shot in the head by one thanks to a ricochet off a path after the bullet had passed clean through a rabbit (not me taking the shot). All I heard was the wind in front of the deformed bullet and then it passed somewhere over my right shoulder quite close in. Needless to say I wasn't too pleased with the shooter for taking a shot whilst I was out in front of them (albeit well to the side and out of sight - they did however know I was on the land ahead). It w

........and how many accidents/injuries/deaths do you hear about the .22lr? There was at least one last year if i remember correctly, didn't a bloke shoot himself in the head with one whilst rabbiting. Not a direct result of it being a .22lr, that could/does happen with any and all calibres, and not unheard of with shotguns either!

So, on what parameters do you rate the .22lr and subs the most dangerous if you don't know of any accidents/injuries/deaths?
-
Yes, the bolt/extractor throws/ejects the case in the opposite direction to right handed so the extractors are opposite!

Out of curiosity, do you actually need to shoot out to 300 very often? On the foxes I tend to find it is only the odd opportunist shot I have to take anything much past 200 yards, the vast majority of mine are under 200, actually probably under 100!

Why didn't I think of that?

Do what you like on the hygiene front, but personally I will never touch a rat without wearing gloves! The traps are as bad or even worse!

PM me for a chat if you want, I have loads of HMR .22lr, .22WMR and .22centrefire, .243 and .308!

I think you have got a little carried away there, first off you do not need a DSC of any sort to sell venison (wild meat) and you don't necessarily need any specific hygiene qualifications either. This will help you, the flow chart on page 8 is very useful if you don't feel like ploughing through the whole thing. http://www.food.gov.uk/sites/default/files/multimedia/pdfs/guidance/wild-game-guide.pdf Edit £4kilo is exceptionally good money, that is about double what I get!

I had not read the Gunmart article when I responded in #28 above, but having now scanned through it I am surprised at how much I can relate to the article/calibre. I have also experienced a massive surface V-Max splash on a fox which merely stunned it (fortunately a quick follow up did the job). Virtually no penetration whatsoever, just pealed the skin back over a 75-100mm very shallow crater, he was most definitely getting up and about to run away. If the calibre works for you and it does your intended job then fine, but as I say, consider it carefully before investing, this is not f

I think it is quite well known that the .204 does indeed need a flagpole of a barrel to get .204 performance, start hacking that down to manageable lengths and the whole point of the .204 has been lost. From my relatively limited experience of them, and their owners issues, they can also be particularly ammo fussy, more so than many calibres. They suit/work for some, but I think it is a calibre to research well, and really define your use, before you put your hand in your pocket.

it does not matter one jot what calibre you use, if the bullet is not quite in the right place the animal will run a bit

It's called a Lamping Kit!

Why don't you simply try using the reticle you have at different distances (it's called shooting off, but I knew someone would make something of that), and then you will know how to use it without adjusting the scope, that's why the reticle is like it is, elevation and windage. It will be different on every rifle and for every pellet/bullet type. Far better to learn how to shoot off if you are using a 12ft lb than trying to adjust the turrets for every shot. Keep it simple, forget technicalities, forget ballistic programs, they are never spot on for YOUR rifle anyway, shooting is simple,

Gun fit is so important, and generally that is much harder with a SBS. Personally I hate the things, simply can't get on with them (or perhaps I have just never found the right one), O/U or Semi for me. If you want SBS there will be little choice but to keep looking and trying until you find one that fits and you can afford. ATB!

Do you mean this sort of thing................. All .22lr, mix of 597 and 10/22. Or did you just mean people playing a bit with their guns?

The regions deal with this situation on a regular basis, there is seldom a problem getting a temp certificate, either for her or the executors (sometimes the same).

where do you get these from bud? "Killgerm", they are known as an AF Snappa, that is the outer box, it does not include the break back.. They will tend to only supply the trade, but I have seen these online and there are other variations of course.
