  1. BASC membership isn't just about insurance, if that is all you want there is cheaper all over the place.
  2. Perhaps a fundamental and complete equipment review is in order! It isn't about spending a fortune, its about using reliable, repeatable, accurate equipment, many do that on a tight budget.
  3. Who knows, but I don't think this is quite the same as the Badger cull, after all, not many Badgers go around eating your livestock, pets children or you!
  4. You are quoting the Indemnity limit on the Legal Expenses cover. This is not the Public Liability (etc) Limit that remains at £10,000,000.00p.
  5. It is rather difficult to find any legislation that specifically relates to controlling (shooting) Wild/dangerous animals. Suffice to say the W&C Act makes it illegal to release/introduce these into the countryside, so I expect any potential prosecution for the removal of them, by almost any means, would be difficult. The conditions on your FAC are always overridden by any need for personal safety. Personally I think it is more than likely that big cats have/do find their way into the wild in this country, but breeding populations are a bit of a stretch. A good, sensible frie
  6. Came across these in a clearing in the woods last night, they seemed quite friendly, it was a tight fit getting them back in the motors and lots of hard work at home. I'm not familiar with this sort of deer but my mate says he's shot loads and they taste great, apparently the fur makes good socks as well! Some before and after pics.
  7. It will be gun fit or mount, possibly both. I suffered with it a lot many years ago with one particular shotgun, just couldn't get it right so it had to go!
  8. Guys. The ballistic tables speak for themselves, and lets be honest, have you ever found a manufacturer to UNDER estimate performance, so all their figures (which all give more than a 4" spread) are best case, the reality is almost guaranteed to be worse. I'm really not trying to take this off topic but I am confused by figures quoted by some individuals that apparently work, but just don't add up. Most specifically this zeroing high malarkey. ATB!
  9. That is a 5" spread between 100-300 yards, on the Hornady, it isn't a 4", and nothing in that chart says .7" was the peak of the arc! The 55g V-Max has a 6.1" spread shown between 100-300 but it still does not say .9 was the peak of the arc! I don't think anyone will be able to find a 22-250 with a verticle spread of 4" from 0-300, even a seriously over pressure home brew! Help me out on that gundata ballistic calculator, I can't see anything with a 4" spread, what are you looking at please? and again......... "what has that has got to do with shooting 1-1.5" high at 150 yards
  10. Something is getting lost in translation here, this is a Sako table, nothing in 22-250 gets anywhere close to a 4" spread between 50-300 yards, someone needs to rewrite the laws of Physics for that to happen, and I'm struggling to see what that has got to do with shooting 1-1.5" high at 150 yards. http://cdn.sako.fi/sites/default/files/Sako_rifle_cartridges_2015.pdf Like I said earlier............... Guys, if this is working for you then fine, but there is an assortment of grey areas here that I just don't get! Edit.Note the Sako chart is cms not inches!
  11. If you can then great, but what is this magic 22-250 bullet that performs within 4" from 50-300 yards? ...and it still doesn't explain this 1-1.5" high business. Guys, if this is working for you then fine, but there is an assortment of grey areas here that I just don't get!
  12. My apologies for taking this a little off topic, and whilst I accept charts/tables are no more than a guide, what ammo are you using to get a 4" spread between 50-300 yards, none of the 22-250 listed here are even close to that! Remington Centerfire Ballistics Table (Hope the link works but lifted from Remington) http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Remington+Centerfire+Ballistics+Table&FORM=RESTAB#view=detail&id=4FD9B161B9179432A5A60A7FD924FFC64805AED4&selectedIndex=2
  13. :hmm: ...but the zero isn't 300 yards, its way less if you are about 2" low at 300 yards! Have you never actually shot a target/zero group out to 300 yards?
  14. As has already been said, you have just got to try some. Admittedly in .308, but myself and a pal both bought 700s some years back within a week or two of each other. Mine shoots PRVI to 1", his shoots the same batch to 4".
  15. Are you sure Dan Ratmanwan shoots a Remington 22 250 We zero at 150 yards 1 and half inch high So at 300 yards it drops 2 inch but that includes the the inch and half high it's zeroed at so the drop is 3 n half inch The theory being at 1 n half inch high at 150 gives you a 4 inch point of impact from 0 to 300 that's a dead fox If you zero at 150 and it only drops 2 inch at 300 yards then we need to try them bullets Help me out here, I never understand why people say...I zero 1" high... WHY? So, where is the real zero, do you actually know? If you are 1-1.5" high
  16. What do I know, but this is the result of a few calibres on 12mm steel plate at 100 yards. None went through, and its interesting to note the twist pattern on the back of the plate (and to some extent on the front with the .308), some of this was near dusk as well, and the firework display was a bit special. Front back side
  17. May I suggest you put these in the For Sale section, I'm sure you can easily achieve £10 or more per magazine, and then simply donate it to charity should you so desire.
  18. I've long thought that air rifles below 30ft lbs should be available on a shotgun certificate. (30ft lbs because many air rifles except the extreme ones, top out around 25ft lbs so it gives some margin for safety). In addition, in any event, I think there should be a buffer available of say 5 ft lbs in which you get warned and forced to recertify the rifle at cost through a RFD rather than prosecuted to allow for any slight variations that might cause the limit to be accidentally exceeded (given that there are more variables than with Firearms Ammunition). The cost should serve as a deterr
  19. Do you/anyone have any links to any of his vids please? Cheers
  20. I can't quote specifically on the Anschutz, but that is commonly the case with magazines, easy enough to try!
  21. It most certainly is! I am fortunate that PRVI delivers perfectly acceptable field performance in all my centrefires. If I was still serious about target/competition they would definitely not be on my list, but for the cost of PRVI it just isn't worth me reloading. Now, as regards Home Brews, a certain gent I know rather well started reloading a few years back, he knew nothing to start with and even his reject reloads shot better than PRVI. It was an eye opener for me just how good they can be, and how good he has now got (but he keeps tinkering). So, if you want to play you w
  22. This question goes round and round, it should be pinned, the answer is always the same. Unless you have a very good reason not to, then simply get a SAK.
  23. Who knows who/where is the cheapest at any given time, but these are worth a look. http://riflemags.co.uk/cz-10-round-steel-22lr-magazine-452-453-455-brno/ Edit You are also in the Airguns section, you may get more help here............... Reloading, Optics & Gun Accessories
  24. That will be down to you. Some like 10, others 5. If you use a rifle sling try your 10 for a while, depending on the adjustment you have on the sling, throwing the rifle over your shoulder can sometimes result in a thump in your back with a 10 shot magazine. Even if you prefer the 5, a 10 shot mag is a good way to carry 10 spare rounds without them getting dirty or rattling about, just feed them into the 5 round mag as required!
  25. The Firearms lady was having an off day! Who knows the circumstances of the call, or the conversation with her, or the landowner, but just because a landowner uses 22-250 it doesn't mean the lands is cleared for it. I use rifles/calibres regularly on land that the homeowners themselves would never get permission on!
