  1. You reckon folk like Tracy give their dogs proper graft ? Always feel better going to a farmer rather than a dog breeder / trainer.
  2. He will probably be looking for a while yet! Be like most things - get real popular and fashionable in the Lurcher world, but you pretty much never ever see a working or genuine ACD.........
  3. Just started to up the road walking here and have the odd flick about with the lamp. For both their fitness and my own sanity ? can’t really do too much free running here at this time of year, it just leads to ‘incidents’ ?
  4. Ah that’s fair, when you were talking about marking I thought ferreting, and thought you were over worrying a bit! But yer it he’s puppyish let him grow on a bit, but in 3 or so months time I bet he’s a bit of a different dog, and will be keen to run a few rabbits on the lamp.
  5. It’s hard to tell what folk are talking about in here ? but are we discussing starting him ferreting and stuff ? Or what he was bred for so to speak ?
  6. He will be plenty old enough for a few bits this season I’d have thought. He’ll be 14 months by Christmas.
  7. They could have taken a photo of the white folk behind them...... but as they don’t appear to be wearing masks, it would possibly defeat the point of the photo entitled “shoppers wear face coverings”. But no, you’re right, it’s probably a large scale conspiracy.
  8. I know the levels well mate and have hunted there quite a bit a few moons ago. What I was getting at asking about what kind of ground - is if you were hunting thick old black thorn hedges and tight bramble you may get a different answer than if you were hunting woodland, scrub or more open hedges. I currently keep the x bred young dog above and a patterdale terrier got the bushing job, but in the past I’ve kept spaniels, spaniel Xs and hound types. The black and white dog is one of my collies, and she’s a handy bushing, mooching and beating dog to. Will work cover and catch, but hates gun
  9. We did exactly the same for a very long time. It’s not a ‘sand nigger’ thing, it’s a human thing. We are all ignorant.
  10. I don’t think anyone has asked what kind of cover and quarry you are working / want to work?
  11. Good question re how tall, I’ll measure him but got to be 22/23 TTS I’d think, maybe more. Very laid back dog in lots of ways but mad for work, massive stamina, loves to graft. But none of that obsessive neurotic border collie stuff you sometimes see. Very personable to, biddable and easy to have with you. But pisses on f***ing everything. Likes a bit of murder to ? He’s sired one litter and throws his jacket. Would be interesting over a grey, but got another dog here probably better prospect.
  12. He is that mate, welsh collie. Work style in between a border and a kelpie.
  13. Looking well Jig. Colours remind me of this lad. Poor mans kelpie ?
  14. I totally believe you. I’ve some maize planted next to me now, which is unusual, and I’ve not run it in years and don’t remember it all being spiked up, so maybe it was cut different, be interesting to see. I like hunting the maize when it’s standing.
  15. Rape is horrendous, but never really found maize a huge problem, used to run it a lot back home, both on the lamp and when they were cutting it, following the forager.
  16. Well the fact we having them is the first surprise.
