  1. Bet they sell and bet the black and white one goes last, or not at all. Ppl are dumb.
  2. If it comes off I’ll let you have a gander.
  3. I reckon he’s probably done a bit of something or other.
  4. Think I found him. Just some skinny junk yard cur, but he’s got a wee glint in his eye that I like.
  5. Right just to clear it up - dog faeces can transfer both neospora (a type of gastro intestinal parasite) and toxaemic abortion to cattle and sheep. Not always obviously, but it can and does. Both cause abortion of lambs / calves and the first one also causes carcass condemnation at the slaughterhouse (ie I get it all the way to slaughter, and it gets binned and I don’t get paid). So that’s why farmers don’t like folk letting dogs shit all over the field. Regular worming can help with a lot of that.
  6. Some folk on here are f***ing clueless.
  7. Talking of clueless ....... dog faeces can carry various thing (neospora, toxoemic abortion etc) which can cause abortion in pregnant sheep and cattle and also carcass condemnations at the slaughter house. Shoukdnt be a Problem is dogs are regularly wormed but most aren’t. Just a bit of info.
  8. The dogs tend to get buried wearing them, so that’s says a lot about how they last.
  9. I assume he’s still making collars ? How do I get hold of him to make some bits if I don’t use Facebook etc ? Cheers
  10. You sold them pig hunting books? ?
  11. Well done mate, good job. Folk don’t get how heartbreaking it is to do all that work, and for the ewe to get all the way to being out with two nice healthy lambs and for a fecking fox to take it.
  12. I’d say in all of the years I’ve been lambing outside our three main killers have been badgers, crows/ravens and then foxes. We don’t have them here but gulls are real bad to.
  13. 100% the are opportunistic. Will also eat out a ewe stuck on her back at times. A dead ewe cut open is a great lure for a multitude of things. People underestimate how much damage a badger will do.
  14. Aftermath of fox trying for a big lamb.
  15. I’m only basing what I said, on being a sheep farmer. Had a few problem foxes, in fact have one at the moment, but there’s a size limit on what they will tackle when it’s up and healthy. Tend to find bigger lambs are either the work of Billy, Dogs, or People. Not saying it couldn’t happen, but I often find Charlie gets blamed for clearing up sick or dead stock etc. Those lambs would be Over 20kg which when wriggling and fighting for its life is a fair thing to hold onto.
  16. We had one two years ago coming into a lambing barn looking for what it could take. Set some bales up as a back stop and sat up on top of a stack quietly one night and unloaded the semi auto into him as he came into the shed.
  17. Extremely unlikely a fox killed an eight week old lamb, least of all took it away.
  18. No but to be honest it’s mostly the air gun super hero’s who shoot rabbits in the summer. A lot of other folk let them be for a bit. Never really got that wirh the air rifle gang, never see much from them in winter but soon as the suns out it’s always lines of wee baby bunnies that have been flattened......
  19. Just started! So nothing on sheep ?
  20. Any more books for sale / still for sale? Trying to fill my evenings. ?
  21. Thermal imager, caller, night vision scope on a high powered rifle. Still takes skill to operate abs shoot etc but f**k me it’s lethal
  22. They are very good bits of kit, but they do push things much more in your favour. They also help ppl with poor field craft and little skill, to catch more.
