What a Lakeland should look like ?
Treehands. replied to Tam O'Void's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
A poor example , but a Lakeland non the less. Cowan bred, sensible an steady in her day. The goat. -
Don't see any good quality solids no more, apart from pollen which gives me headaches. When I was in my teens Lebanese was a good smoke also crem de Morocc. And well worthy at the top ...Temple ball.. Black , hand rolled with a brownish inner. I would imagine all the troubles in the Middle East has ended their popularity.

Always found outdoor grown herb a bit ropey and harsh, but OK for a tobacco substitute

Same can be said of the spade. Some men only good for the bulk, my dog my breakthrough. Some of the earths on the shoot go through an old river bed 3ft of compact stone an sand , only place I have a need for a bar. Unless ferreting.

Lets See Your Working Russells
Treehands. replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Not a worker yet but her time will come. 17 weeks. -
I thought we were down on grafted terriers , seemed plenty till the entered terrier class arrived. There are quite a few shows out there just wanting the dosh but this one is still run as all MWTLC shows have been since they began , Worked dogs first and foremost with judges picked with that sentiment in mind. Personally I dislike show bangers, with a smart tyke for each class but they help to fill the purse at the end of the day. It's a damm shame that the organisers put themselves out to source a working judge for the majority of tykes on show mere show bangers. Also I noticed a goo

Fat mans right, there's no bigger threat to digger and dog than in loose sand. Even worse if it's an embankment, I don't think anyone would openly sacrifice a moderate terrier never mind a top class one if that's what your asking. If you work terriers in any ground its inevitable that one day the quarry will be the victor, wether it's rock , sand , concrete or drain.

I find it odd that people think rock dogs are failed earth dogs, far easier to find in a set of earth tunnels than it is in a deep rock hole. A good nose is essential in finding amongst the twists and turns and drops of a rock pile. Fell types were created to work mainly rocky places so to doubt their ability displays inexperience were rock is involved . It's easy to stay in the comfort zone and pick your holes , doesn't mean everyone else has to . If your in the job of fox control you follow the fox were the fox chooses to go.

You will learn more reading sensible literature and learning from your own mistakes . If your new to ferreting , why don't you keep ferreting for a couple of seasons for experience. Then it's a simple case of swapping the ferret for a terrier as you would be locator savvy by then. Bitching over lack of response won't help you either it displays impatience. Atb th.

Is their food source on the island or has anyone ever seen the parents bringing food over ? It's an interesting one that. On one island there's plenty for them, fishermen often saw Cubs an parents basking in the sun. We only got on when frozen but has 6ft depth. The others are just old setts with a huge moat and have no option but to swim to feed

I know of a few island earths surrounded by deep water that regularly hold.

Depends if you rely on others such as industry for work. Roofing has served me well all my life. though I do have a self imposed resession for three months in the winter.

Lakeland , Patterdale And White Lakelands
Treehands. replied to Walker21's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
In my mind Flint was a White Lakeland from Middleton lines and was not a russel. Colour does not dictate the breed You can describe a white terrier as a jack russel type , but that does not make it a "jack russel". Would you say every terrier with a Curley coat a bedlington Morton ? -
Unfortunately most of them would be wearing blue uniforms Topper.

Lakeland , Patterdale And White Lakelands
Treehands. replied to Walker21's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
If that was so, where does the white enter the line . The pic I put up was goulds Flint which was heavily used on Russell's. Back in the days of Fred Barker of chowt faced rock fame He also had white terriers from the ilfracome badger digging club, which I believe we're of Arther Heinmans lines. Did these terriers not blend into fell lines over time. -
I'm not upset rippem , I just found your comment on taking on a dog and killing it a bit of blowing your own bollox . But that is just my opinion I expected the reply with the 45 being American. so I'll shut the fluck up before you train one of your super attack dogs to travel to Britain an do me in.
