Totally understand Simon, my wife who is self employed is phoning all her patients to advise that she is now on 'self isolation'. Phil

Lovely gun and what a shoe collection !!!!!!!!! ? Phil

I am expecting the Game Fair to be cancelled / postponed and hopefully I can cancel our hotel as well. It was on Look North tonight that the Lincolnshire Show is cancelled and I think most of the smaller shows will go also. Phil

Must admit I wondered about this. All our perms are within 5 - 15mins drive so not using much fuel therefore not in the petrol station often. Nobody else on the land so no harm to either me or others Picking up a fresh supply of meat and so no supermarket visits, veg straight from the farm. My regular excercise on the fields with no germs being spread. It needed to be done due to all the tossers out there but I do wish I could just carry on and not mix with loads of others getting fresh air and cheap meat. Hope you lot are all okay boys. Phil

Good going Dave and a rifle for each hand, impressive mate. ? Phil -
Nice one Mark, are you trapping the netting under the branches or on top. It doesn't matter whether you are using a sub 12 or fac mate, a good hide is a good hide.....period. One of our permanent hides is a max of 40mt at the furthest point but we still use fac rifles because they are our 'go to' rifles and don't regard them as too powerful for closer range plus despite the hide being for rabbits / squirrels, we take pigeons landing in the far trees at around 85mt so offers us an ideal tool for the job. A bit of sea fishing and shooting which at least I can do on my own or with my pal maintaining a distance whilst out on the perms. We are lucky that we have a sport/passion/hobby that will allow us to continue to a degree without being in contact with others. I saw all the people taking no notice of the request to stay away from the bars/ clubs / gyms, bloody idiots. My parents had to go to war to protect out country where as all we are asked to do is stay at home or at least keep away from others, its not too much to ask.................................is it ? Trish, my wife, is going t

Except for the morons who have smashed toilet roll holders off the walls in public toilets in order to steal the paper rolls inside them as reported on the TV the other day, I think this was in Leeds area. Phil

I have been to each one, really good show but this year I was not able to go but in August, I can IF IT TAKES PLACE. I am unsure if the Game Fair goes ahead, hotel booked so we wait and see. Phil

On tv last night, the news reported that it was expected that the uk will have 250,000 deaths through coronavirus if we do not self isolate in which case this could reduce to 20,000 deaths. Now that is pretty frightening to say the least, it scares the hell out of me. I am retired so for me to self isolate is not difficult but my wife is a self employed Chiropodist, she is now only working part time until her state pension kicks in, however it still places her in possible risk area although there has only been one case of the virus in North Lincolnshire but nevertheless is a concern and will

Just had an email from the organizers that the show dates have changed from May to the 28th and 29th of August which pleases me greatly as we were not able to get to the show in May. The underlying issue of course is the current coronavirus. View this email in your browser

Started on the social isolation

Love mine and running with their rangefinder is a good setup but for god's sake don't tell villaman as Mitch is not too certain if he really likes Nitesite.......I think on the quiet, he has one on order ? Phil -
Yes he is one of my regular suppliers, I will be calling Matt tomorrow and as it is going to be raining, I may drive over there if they have some of the Federal in stock. As far as I know, they have 4 types of wmr ammo unless something has changed in the past few weeks. Phil

I take your point, it is a GREAT pity that WAGBI became basc or joined them or whatever they did............................bring back WAGBI. I used to think the CPSA did little for it's members apart from produce a ranking for when we shot clay competitions but compared to basc, hmmmm. Phil

Another one to get hold of and try and again, not come across that one but thanks SD, will keep a beady eye open for them. Phil

I am using RWS subs in the .22lr which I have been very pleased with as they are so accurate in each rifle we have tried, Browning T-Bolt, Annie 1416, CZ 452 and Tikka Tx1. My pal and myself are using the Hornady V-Max 30 in the WMR which has so far shown to be very accurate and flies as flat as a pancake although it is very early days with testing because of the winds we have been experiencing but on point from 50 - 90mts, zero at 80mt but we were having to catch pockets of low levels of wind in order to get some tests done. I intend to rezero at 100mt and then take out to 115mt (the max dist

Just seen they are doing them in WMR as well so I will have to try to get some to try. https://www.cci-ammunition.com/whatsnew/newproducts.aspx Phil

Good to know Mitch, must admit I have not tried them after throwing out Winchester ammo, found the most accurate was RWS followed by Eley, perhaps I need to look out for the Segmented ammo and give them a whirl. Glad you like the 457 Royal

Lovely photograph SD I had a short session with my pal's 20 gauge o/u which I really enjoyed and is on my wish list. A good day / night forcast today so we will be out for a session tonight but before that, I need to go and take in the trail cameras to see if out hunch is right or charlie but to be honest, I have a feeling the problem in this particular case is badgers not foxes. We will see what is on the camera. Phil

I am a member of BASC but in all honesty, I am staying a member for two reasons, firstly the opportunity to use their doctors for renewal of my shotgun / fac tickets should an issue with my own doctors come up next time round. Secondly, a combined thing really, free entry into the Game Fair and a reduced membership fee as I am an old tart. I am not convinced that BASC is as good as they make out but apart from the CPSA, I don't know who will stand in our corner when needed although I am not so sure BASC do a good job on that count either. I will stay a member for the time being despite th

Good friends are hard to come by and here is a great example of one friend there for another. I think a trip south may be in order very soon boys, get your breakfast stock in Si. Phil

As villaman just said, you really need to look outside the box. Most people will be asking for rabbit and woodpigeon shooting but perhaps feral pigeon crapping all over a farmers tractor or the rats that run around the place may be of more interest to him than the rabbits or woodpigeon. In other words look for the less popular quarry which may get you in the door and don't forget allotments as the gardeners will soon tell you if they have rabbit or rat or crow problems and churches can have big problems with feral pigeons. Although not easy, some industrial estates or old buildings can ha

No need to apologise meece, all good fun as far as I am concerned. Phil

I think you will find the Butterball is an english brand turkey with lumps of butter pushed under the skin for which you will pay silly money when it costs pennies to do yourself. Anyway, a few nice guns theremeece, I am one of those who really do not like s/s double trigger straight stock shotguns, just prefer a well balanced o/u with single trigger, we all like different things. My DT10 is a gun which never fails to give me pleasure every time I use it. Phil

The Tikka rimfires are good guns but I am the first to say the stock is not great in terms of the fit to the shooter. I have fitted a new grip and beaver tail forend add-ons which have improved the FEEL of the gun in the shoulder but I would also buy a new stock if pension allowed. I have used a Tikka with a GRS Breserk stock and what a difference, I will be keeping an eye open for one as time goes by and funds build back up. Phil
