  1. I think you will find the Butterball is an english brand turkey with lumps of butter pushed under the skin for which you will pay silly money when it costs pennies to do yourself. Anyway, a few nice guns theremeece, I am one of those who really do not like s/s double trigger straight stock shotguns, just prefer a well balanced o/u with single trigger, we all like different things. My DT10 is a gun which never fails to give me pleasure every time I use it. Phil
  2. The Tikka rimfires are good guns but I am the first to say the stock is not great in terms of the fit to the shooter. I have fitted a new grip and beaver tail forend add-ons which have improved the FEEL of the gun in the shoulder but I would also buy a new stock if pension allowed. I have used a Tikka with a GRS Breserk stock and what a difference, I will be keeping an eye open for one as time goes by and funds build back up. Phil
  3. Nice drop from £500 or more on the laminate Mitch, nice one mate, wish I could afford one for my Tikka rimmy. Phil
  4. Yes they do. What sort of price Mitch if you don't mind saying. Phil
  5. I feel the envy invading me Mitch, really really really like these, great move in my opinion mate. I thought you were going for a Boyds stock, mind you, I think you have made a far better decision. Phil
  6. Yes thanks, I got in touch but he sold the rods today......oh well. More or less decided to buy an AFAW 11' Estuary rod as it seems to be a nice little rod. Thanks again. Phil
  7. I just got my daughter to show me on facebook how to find and then contact your friend (I am an old tart who doesnt do facebook thingy) so hope to get a reply soon. I have put several questions to him so we will see how things go but thank you for your help. Phil
  8. I am inclined to agree with the above. The sound of a .22 or .25 hitting a back stop will be much louder than a sub 12 and the noise from the gun may be an issue. Go for it asking for an open ticket Rez. Phil
  9. Thank you. The one on the right is the same as mine but I don't know which is which and I take it that your friend is selling locally as there is no talk of delivery by courier. Is this on facebook or some other place, sorry I don't do facebook so I do not know. Phil
  10. My sort of shooting SD, in the warm over a dead rabbit sending my pal out across the field to head charlie in my direction ? Phil
  11. I have just bought two soft continental rods but I would still be interested to know about his, condition, a photo or two and price delivered please. Thank you Phil
  12. She WILL get there Jimmy, she is like you mate, tough. Phil
  13. We went out yesterday which was the first proper session since the storms started over a month ago and boy did we enjoy it so I know how you felt my friend. As a bonus we took a couple of rabbits, a fox and half a dozen rats using our FX Impact fac .25 air rifles and Tikka .22lr rimmy. Now looking forward to going again but in the meantime my wife and I have just been to set up a range in my quarry perm out to 115mt for setting the WMR rifles on zero and holdover points. I think we will also be doing a similar set of holdover points for the .22lr rifles as they have had new scopes on so
  14. In the US, there is a following for large calibre air rifles, they have 50 cal which needs to be linked to an air bottle to keep up with the air demand, why, well as meece said, because they can. Is there another reason for these super power air rifles, yes I think there is, firstly these are not designed for the UK or ever will be but there is a learning curve and degree of knowledge gained by producing guns like this in order to develop new systems that will benefit airgun manufacture and the way production takes place. Just remember that in the world of car manufacture, F1 motor racing has
  15. Yes I know that but wondered what the bite detection is like on the estury rods when catching flatties because I have a number of rods that are great for the cod or skate but not the best bite detection so I want to ensure I can see the flounder / sole actually take the bait. The conoflex will be a tough act to follow but bite detection on this type of rod for me is the most important aspect. Phil
  16. I mean't to ask you, what is the bite detection like with flatties and which length rod do you have, 11' or 12'. Phil
  17. Thank you for that and they are some that I looked at but as this type of rod is not my main usage, I am not wishing to spend too much unless I sell the conoflex and buy a pair of new rods which may be the way to go. I will take be watching to see what comes up but will have a serious look at your rods again. My rod is the 11' Mk1 but I was not aware they ever did a 12' version of the Flattie Fanatic, certainly never seen one. Phil
  18. About 23 years ago I bought a Conoflex Flattie Fanatic rod when they were first launched and what a cracking little short range rod they were but they had quite a backbone to handle bigger fish if one was caught whilst after flat fish. I have taken double hits of cod, full house of macerel and smaller conger along with shed loads of bass so in other words not just a flattie rod but not a longer range tool. Now this little rod is still in use albeit ready for a rebuild and I would very much like to find another to join it but they are not so easy to find and with this in mind I have starte
  19. Totally agree. Don't be afraid to try slightly different movements of the rod tip to make the lure (assuming you are using a lure) more attractive. Good fun although I prefer to use an Ultra Light lure rod and small lures fished with tiny twiches to the tip which you could also do with the drop shot rod. Enjoy. Phil
  20. As you have a straight lift from the water to the pier, I would be using around 25lb mono which will have some stretch to allow the fish to bounce a little although if you are using a large drop net it will ease the issue. I used to fish on Shoreham jetty near Brighton where it was a 40ft drop and using 20lb mono, I had no issues at all but I used a line with loads of stretch, Berkley Trilene Big Game although not good as a beach line in my opinion because of the amount of stretch but I must say this was some years ago so perhaps that line has changed now. Phil
  21. On clean to mixed ground and estury work I have used Sufix Tritanium mono 14lb for years and rate it very highly. I use it on both fixed spool and multiplier reels. I used Sufix Supreme 65lb but for the past couple of years switched to tapered leaders from various brands and using Daiwa at the moment but to be honest I think I will go back to fixed strength line such as Sufix Zippy. I use braid for all my lure fishing but as yet not tried it on my bait fishing although it is on my list of things to do but not sure if I will use it on my multiplier reels, jury is out on that one. 22. I know where you are coming from regarding movement of the gun in 'off hand' and when my pal and I went shopping for the wmr rifles, I was pleased he chose the lighter sporting stock / barrel CZ because I had trouble keeping it still. The Varmint version I bought, okay, yes it is much heavier but I can hold that firm. I do confess that the trigger stick tripod does come in very handy as well mind. Just back from Anglesey, stuffed my face with lovely food and lots of it along with rather large volumes of gin/tonic and wine so I doubt I can even walk up the fields and perhaps the el
