  1. Nice one. I used to fly fish for pike a lot from my kayak and boat but as there are few places here that I can fly fish for the perch and pike, I went back to lure fishing. If you can get hold of some, try popper flies, the disturbance on the water surface drives them nuts. A couple of my tied flies:- I sold all my fly tying gear now and do miss it a bit. Phil
  2. One thing regarding regged FAC versions, as far as I know, few of the Mk2 FAC rifles are regged. I am the first to admit that I know very little about Rapid guns but when I bought mine, I did a bit of research and found the above info. Again, I was advised that I could have mine regged if I wanted but have not found the need to do so. I was going to take mine to a guru named on the Rapid 7 forum but he became very ill and was not taking on any work and as the old saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it' came to mind so I did not bother looking for anyone else to check it out f
  3. I have the Mk2 with quick fill but I don't know the difference between the Mk1 and 2 other than the change in stock. Phil
  4. Took the rifle out today and must confess that I am sold on these scopes, there will be another one going on my Impact for sure. Anyone interested in an MTC Mamba Lite or two........................... Phil
  5. I completely agree with Viz, it is a sharp blast of air that is sometimes needed to clear the problem. £2 for a gun refill is bloody expensive, pop over to Redbeck Shooting, they will sort it for you. https://www.airrifleshop.co.uk/ Phil
  6. Last night I fitted my new Hawke Airmax scope onto my rimfire, I went back to BKL mounts because I just love em. I went for the 3 - 12 x 50mm, side focus, IR with the AMX reticle. Now I have been using MTC Mamba Lite scopes for a couple of years and really like them but I keep picking up one of these in my RFD thinking how much I like the reticle so I took the plunge and bought one. I have been down on the range today to zero the outfit and I have to say I am very happy with it, a lovely crisp and clear image, a bit heavier that the Mamba Lite but not so much that it was noticeable and am
  7. Quite a tool and the gun ain't bad either but what spoils it........................................it's a Daystate Phil
  8. Pity you are so far away, otherwise you could have tried my Impact out and believe me that would put a smile on your dial matey. Phil
  9. Short and simple, FX Impact .25, 47fpe or Rapid .22 30fpe. I have both and both are good but the FX is AMAZING. Some people say FAC Air rifles are not worth the hassle of getting a ticket....................................well usually from those who have never used one for hunting.........................they are excellent hunting rifles capable of more than you might think. Phil
  10. I was going to try this method but after a fair bit of reading on the subject and getting square eyes watching youtube footage, I didn't bother as the pellets are working fine. I did note however that most of the guys who were lubing pellets were washing and drying them first to remove all the swarf. This aspect of the process seems to be very important from what I saw. Maybe one day Phil
  11. A good start Steve, nice one. I am with big napper as my HW100 shot far better with Bis Mags than anything else but it doesn't matter just enjoy. Phil
  12. You just reminded me that I have not done any paper punching this winter with the NiteSite fitted. Unlike you guys, I quite enjoy the cold dark nights for the ratting and bunny hunting but confess that I don't really feel the cold so much unlike my shooting pal who was frozen on Sunday night when we went ratting............whimp. Phil
  13. Same but a smaller pellet Mitch, I thought you would have known that mate. Phil
  14. To be honest Si, having looked at loads of thermal on youtube, I don't like it at all. I would have a thermal spotter in a heartbeat if I could afford one just to locate quarry or find shot quarry but from what I have seen, the image is very blurred compared to normal NV. I was talking to a guy in the RFD last week who had been shooting rats for the farmer, when he came out of the barn, the farmer's brother was there and asked if he had shot many. The reply was only a few so the brother gave him a Pulsar spotter to go back in with, he said there were rats all over the place that he had not see
  15. Ooooh you are clever Si, I just fail each time I try with Chairgun. I might need a trip to Scarborough for some expert tuition. Phil
  16. As most of you guys know, our Jimmy very kindly sent down his Photon 4.6 XT for me to have a play with and I am very grateful mate as it has saved me a load of money.......... I have been using both a home brew NV and a NiteSite Viper which have worked very well for me but fancied a change and the Photon having a very quick and easy zero change capability would be very handy so that I could switch ammo on either air rifle or on my rimfire. That was the main reason to go this route but to be very honest I found the Photon to be a total pain in the rear to set zero in daylight or at night i
  17. I have the XT 4.5 that Jimmy kindly loaned me. It is very much at test stage because of some time commitments and shocking weather. I must say this one is a pain to zero because I couldn't even see a 10mm spot target at 25mt. I am going to try again next week in daylight at 50mt rather than an indoor range. I am keeping an open mind but to be honest, the image quality is not a patch on the Nitesite. I do like the fact that I can have multiple zero points for different ammo. Phil
  18. Well I am not a springer man but PCP rifles 1. Miles ahead of anything else I have owned, FX Impact .25 2. Ultra and would love to have one tuned with reg and longer cylinder. 3. HW100/ Rapid mk2/ Wildcat all similar but I have a soft spot for my T200 mk 1 My list could change if I buy the FN12 but will have to wait and see. If money was no issue, I would have a sub 12 Impact to go with my FAC version. Phil
  19. Well you lot might enjoy seeing the new year in but I bloody don't.............................66th birthday at midnight, it's not right, I still feel 30 in my head..........OK I might feel 90 when I get out of bed...............anyway have a good one chaps. Phil
  20. I used them once, first class and my mate uses them quite a bit and again he finds them to be good. Phil
  21. I am really crap with a springer and I don't mind admitting it. The TX of mine was shocking in MY hands, my groups were rubbish BUT after Tim had fitted a TBT kit (not the short stroke though, not needed) and Tim work his polishing magic, the rifle was nothing short of outstanding even in my hands. I cannot speak about anyone else's TX but the work done by Charlie Caller (Tim) changed that rifle by a mile. As a matter of interest, two guys on my RFD's range who were using TX rifles also had a few shots with mine and could not believe the difference as their guns were not tuned at all and
  22. Sorry cannot help but if you don't get the info you need, try on here :- http://www.nightvisionforumuk.com/index.php Phil
  23. One of the reasons I didn't get a slot for .17HMR on my ticket was because most people 'in the know' told me that they blow rabbits apart, fine to culling but no good if you want to eat them. In the photo above Ian, there doesn't appear to be so much damage so are these taken at long range or have I got my info wrong. Phil
  24. Very nice going Ian and I am pleased to see what the Ward looks like on a gun as I have never seen one other than in Clive's web site adverts. Phil
