I must admit that BM's were my best group getter and rabbit stopper in the HW100 but very poor in the Ultra. It is surprising how some makes of gun really work well with certain pellets and this is a case in point as I have not heard of anyone having poor performance with BM's in Hw100 rifles in .177. The light pellets such as AA Express and JSB RS also produced super groups but just didn't kill as well as BM's, well that is how found them. Phil

Ah yes Rez, I had forgotten about that shop......................................... I will keep an eye open on the bay for one Jimmy, cheers mate. Phil

How about this one just shown in the US, I wonder if it is Tony Belas's way of getting his own back before leaving the company............................or was he pushed...................who cares, he has gone. http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/precharged-pcp/daystate-red-wolf-special-edition-.25/ Phil

I have been meaning to ask each time I see one of your photo's Jimmy, where did you get the rifle bench vice / clamp from, it looks a very handy bit of kit. Phil

WTF.........................................Jimmy, you can stop talking like that old friend, it is just the shit weather that gives us all the blues at this time of the year. I had little interest in going out until I went ratting two weeks ago, that gave me a kick up the arse and off we go. I am off to shoot some ferals today if it doesn't throw it down. Now clear your head mate and get out there. Phil

Nice going buddy. I am very interested to hear how you go on with the Leupold thermal Si. Phil

Nice one Billy On another forum some months ago there was quite a bit of interest in .25 with a number of guys going that route, all sub 12 and the feed back from these lads was far better than many of the forum members thought it would be. I have always been told .25 in sub 12 is a non starter due to crap trajectory but that was not the case according to the reports posted. I love my .25 FAC but must say, I would really like to try a sub 12, .25 in pcp at some stage. Phil

I have jumped a page or two here so sorry if this has been covered. Do you have a spare scope to try, that would take care of the scope situation. What scope are you using as I may have something you could borrow if you don't have a spare. One other thing to chuck into the equasion is the mounts. A few years ago, I had a set of Hawke mounts on my HW100 and I had variation of zero over different distances on the windage turret and no matter what I did, I could not get to the bottom of the issue so I bought a set of BKL mounts........................no more issues. Just a thought.

It is a great deal of money for a torch compared to the 'Optic Fire' torches I have. I am sure the Tracer is a better torch but is it £120 better........................don't know about that. Phil

Modern and Classic spring rifle training.

It would make little difference shooting off a bench rest to me Mark, they would still be all over the place. I simply do not have the patience to keep working with springers, a tuned version is something else however. I see your point regarding picking up another springer and have to get used to it all over again. Phil -

Just shows what the old girl can do. Super group from the 127 Mark but what have you run through the 124 Phil -
Oh Ethan, no holding you back now fella, a really nice bit of kit. Just make sure you don't forget all about shooting now you have a motor bike even if it is a cracker.......... Phil

There is the Theoben FAC further down these adverts and you will not get a better gun for the money. Phil

A few offers for members.

I am going for another Airmax soon and that price is not bad but don't understand why the 4-16 is cheaper than the 3-12. Phil -
Quote :- Had the air cannon missed slightly on any of those shots Mark would have won the bet because of accuracy not power ! Again " for me" accuracy trumps power,- you have to hit it to kill it ! With regards to FAC, it`s only my opinion Phil, - I think a rimmy is the next step after an air rifle. And what if Mark slightly misses one of the bulls.....................................does that mean power trumps accuracy, of course not mate but I just don't see any of you
-
Quote:- I`ve always been a strong believer in " Accuracy trumps power" period ! I really don't understand why you keep saying this Mark me ole duks, nobody on here or any other forum says otherwise. It is however a great advantage to have both which is what you get with FAC. As I have said before, you should come out with me and use the FAC, then you can form an opinion based on fact and experience of actually using one to know what they are capable of doing. Phil

I tried some Bisley Practice flats which were not very good and a pig to load in the mag as the head edge was a bit too sharp. I wonder if they would be any good in my FAC guns although I doubt I could get .25 flats, might be worth a scan on Uttings site after all it is worth a try on the rats. Phil

You need complete confidence with the gun and pellet you choose and as already said, practice is key. Also remember that unlike a sub 12 rifle, an FAC rifle could be any fpe / cal so far more test work is needed. My .22 Rapid at 28fpe has a wildly different performance level to my .25 Impact at 47fpe so don't try to establish what an FAC rifle will do without a fair bit of range time for serious testing. Phil

My pal has bought one and it does give a good distance but the weight...............................not for me, I will stick to a 50. Phil

A warm welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy being here but you may need to get used to our sense of humour. Phil

You may wish to consider some shooting sticks which will help no end, quite a few of us have these:- https://www.bushwear.co.uk/primos-trigger-stick-gen-2-deluxe-tripod-tall-316957.html These are very useful for both day and night time shooting and will give you that extra support, I would not leave home without them even if I doubt that I will be using them. Really brilliant product. Phil

Preperation and timing for the perfect ambush.
philpot replied to mark williams's topic in Airgun Hunting
Funny enough Mark, your first photo is a similar sight on my perm. We have a small wood which faces due south over looking rape fields. The trees are full of woodies all warming up in the sun and while I was watching them today putting a plan together the snow suddenly came with real gusto. One spot to keep an eye on me thinks. Phil -
Well done, you got him in the end.................perhaps a bad choice of words but never mind we all get nights like this and worse on occasion but thankfully not often. Phil

Does pellet expantion really matter on impact ?
philpot replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I have to agree So, the lighter pellets really do the job on rats. Phil
