    I will say that if I could have the bottle conversion and something better than the flimsy bit of wire trigger extension, I could be tempted but the cocking lever / bolt is in a crazy position, like picking ear wax. It needs a dedicated design such as the ill fated BSA or far far better FX Wildcat / Impact which have a superb trigger system. Phil

    You cannot knock the HW Mark but if a bullpup is the desired rifle, then an HW is no good at all despite it being an allstar. Phil

    I sold my T200 target rifle today as it no longer gets used and I am wanting a new sub 12 pcp and scope so it needed to go......................................BUT.............................it is such a little cracker, I am sorry to see it go. If the bell target series of evening shoots was during the summer, I would have kept on attending but an hours trip in winter's rural road conditions at night, the pleasure just was not there but the new owner looked well pleased and show they should.

    Ohhhhh, might be a bit of a problem there then. Perhaps a s/h Vantage AO which you should get in your budget, if you can't find one, let me know as I have a nice one with decent glass that I could do for you. Mine is a 3 - 9 x 44 so let me know if that is something you are interested in. Phil

    My rfd is a tight bugger so the chance of a healthy discount is low on his list but there again even the big places like Uttings are not that good at scope discounts. The Airmax I bought was from ebay and that is where I have found some decent prices every now and again which is crap as I would by far prefer to give the business to my rfd.     I guess they are coming off the list then Mitch. My local rfd will not deal with them at all now after having so many issues with the company. You need a trip over to Sweden mate and get the testing done and order placed. Phil

    I bought one of the same Jimmy, spot on mate but I think you might get a better price than that, in fact there was a shop selling them on the forum, I will have a look and post here when I find it. I have looked but cannot find the offer for Airmax scopes which was listed as a post not an advert but anyway, it seems to have gone, sorry mate. £299 is not a good price though Jimmy, there are better offers than that from a number of places.     I am in the process of moving away from MTC and back to Hawke, the first one being the Airmax 3-9 x 50 which is a cracking scope and very crisp image. Hawke don't seem to 'white out' anywhere near as much as MTC but I do still like my Mamba Lite. I will check out the new version before I buy any more though. Even on my Impact fac I only use a Mamba Lite 3-12x44 which is strong enough so a 4-16x50 is in my mind more than enough for any air rifle situation. Phil

    How do you think the RWS compare with Winchester subs which are very popular in my neck of the woods and what I use. I have not used the rimmy enough to really say which I think are better as I have not had the rimmy long enough and only bought it this winter. Testing will be done when the weather is better. Phil

    You made the very points that I also feel Jon and for me this is the perfect situation. If I were a better springer shot, I may use one for some hunting but not sure about that. I must admit to a certain envy to those who are good enough to do as well with the springer as they do with the PCP but I am not one of those however I really enjoyed target shooting with my tuned TX200, an absolute tack driver but way to heavy to be walking around the fields with....................................for me anyway.     Well as it was me who made the original comment, I should perhaps explain further. I think 'The One' has summed it up very well, PCP offers a fast second or follow up shot, quiet and predictable. For me, the springer is a rifle that I enjoy improving my groups on paper and would like an HW57 which despite most people not liking, I really do after shooting one. I have no desire to hunt with one but not something that is set in stone, perhaps simply a case that I have not found a springer that I want to hunt with. I must confess that I am not a good springer shooter which

    I went to pick up a 110 today that my pal ordered yesterday and then set a new scope up for him and sorted zero. This was a .22 which shot really well and will be ideal for the rats around stables, farm buildings etc. I thought of the .22 for myself ideal for this sort of work although for some time I only used a .177 HW100, Wildcat and Ultra all of witch were cleanly stopped by a JSB Heavy or Bisley Mag. Never tried out light pellets on the rats other than in my Wildcat .22 which produced superb groups with JSB RS 13.5gr and certainly proved to be a cracking rat killer. I really do

    I met with the BSA rep today in the rfd, he was carrying a case with him. It took me ten seconds to ask if that was a Defiant, it was. My first thought were that it was very heavy although slightly better in the shoulder, it doesn't sit anywhere near as nicely as the Wildcat in the shoulder, when carrying my Wildcats (when I had them) and my Impact, both simply hang down from the hand which makes them very comfortable to carry but the Defiant hangs almost upside down putting quite a strain on your wrist.     No springer Mark. If I ever get another springer it will be for the range not hunting. A scorpion with an Airtech or Ratworks tuning job could be interesting but to be very honest, I just dislike rear bolt action, give me a side lever any day of the week. Phil
