  1. If I had the dosh, it would be the Wolf R-Tec for me to have greater distance and total control of screen brightness without affecting ir power but not cheap, perhaps one day Phil
  2. The Eley's are 38gr, the latest ones. I must say that the Eley boxes are not very good though so if they become the chosen shell for either of us, we will have to buy some ammo boxes. The main reason for the 17hmr is just for long range rabbits etc and as we can't shoot foxes on our largest permission due to the owners are hunters (horse and hounds) is it not really much point in going for a fox gun. Talking to the guys at Forest Lodge, they sort of said for rabbits were the best bet on longer range but open to other ideas chaps. Phil
  3. My God Mitch, you have done well to get an open ticket for your first grant, well done you. The only reason I am toying with the 17hmr is for distance on rabbits, if you shoot a rabbit with one at less than about 100mt, it will be mush but these things come into their own at distances of above that and we have suitable land for this cal. I don't fancy a .22 Hornet or a .22-250 as I am not shooting foxes, the land is used for hunting with horse and hounds so a big no no. I do think my main rifle will be the Impact as it does most of what I want but it is nice to have a few othe
  4. Listen my friend you only need a relatively small perm, say 30, acres and you have enough for FAC air. Shotgun cert is not based on available land. That can be for clay shooting or pest control. I think I am going for a .17hmr slot on my ticket so will do that whilst I am there. Phil
  5. I think it looks loads better in the stock you have bn, the wood looks naff. Must confess I do like these guns, sit well in the shoulder. Phil
  6. I love mine Phill and if you want to extend the distance, just add a separate T20 or Tracer ir which can be a great advantage. Phil
  7. You are welcome Mitch and if you want a few samples of the .25 pellets I have, I am happy to send some down to you. Just PM me your address and I will post some. Phil
  8. I went over to Forest Lodge Guns with my shooting buddy to have a chat about .17her (the next possible move) so we picked up both Eley and RWS subs to test in our rifles next week so fingers crossed. Phil
  9. I will be going with my dearly beloved on Sunday this year as we have some things on Saturday. I was going to send my ticket in for a variation so instead I will do it there as it is only 4 weeks away. Jimmy, I do not know how far any new applications for both shotgun and FAC will get at the show but if I were you, I would prepare all details of your permissions and the landowners names, addresses etc along with any map from google earth / google maps showing what you have and for gods sake, only go for FAC air mate. If you have a look on the web site, you should find more details, I
  10. Rez if they turn you on, I will be happy to let you have a play with my Impact mate. Phil
  11. It is worth you going to the Northern Shooting Show in May Jimmy because they are having firearms departments there from up your neck of the woods, Durham and Clevland so you can even have an interview on site mate, perhaps you will get the all clear to go for a ticket, deffo worth a go Jimmy. For anyone with an FAC ticket, they are doing variations on the day as well, I feel an update coming on. Phil
  12. I have had a few people suggest trying the RWS subs including an RFD who has found them to be a perfect partner for his Anschutz so they are on the list along with Eleys to try later this week. CCI shells seem to get a very mixed report, a love/hate shell in a number of cases it appears. Phil
  13. You are so excited Mitch that you put the thread on twice matey, Yep a kid at Xmas. Phil
  14. Well the one you did for the FX Streamline makes it super quiet Si and much lighter on the longer barrel. Phil
  15. Little else to say...................................but.............................................this man has taste. PM inbound Mitch. Phil
  16. Now that the weather is getting better, my pal and myself are starting to spend a bit more time learning the ways of our rimfires. Whilst doing some target work the other evening, we both had some very inconsistent results. A number of shots were much louder than most with these louder shots shooting high. I should say we were shooting bench rested and prone. The guns used were an Anschutz and a Browning T bolt. Has anybody had similar issues with Winchester sub's. My pal has heard on another forum that Eley sub's seem to get a good feed back. Phil
  17. Now the fun begins Mitch, enjoy it all mate. Phil
  18. Not quite sure exactly what you are after because you say in the opening thread, quote....'.but im looking for some ground to get me back out again' and now you say you have land but want more. If you do have some land, then ask those land owners for references to other land owners, that is the best way to get more land when you can quote the name of another landowner to get more. So I don't really know what you are wanting from us mate. Phil
  19. Can't help but be impressed just well these old guns produce the results Mark ................................................................. who did you get to do the shooting I am only messing, very nice shooting mate. Phil
  20. A real bummer Mitch. £250 per month council tax.................................................................that will teach you to live in Dorset mate Phil
  21. I like the scope very much Mitch, it is just not so good with my NV and as I shoot a great deal at night, it is important to me to have a scope that really works with the NV. Phil
  22. I bought my first Airmax a short while ago and have to say it is a cracker BUT it is nowhere near as good as the MTC Mamba /Mamba Lite when using the Nitesite or any other add on NV I have put on it. I now need to test my new Endurance scope which has the same reticle so may finish up with the same issue in which case both new scopes will go and I go back to MTC. Phil
  23. Welcome aboard matey. Totally agree with the comments above, get in touch with any pest control customers you had before, after all, they will already know you so should make life much easier. Phil
  24. I bought one of these for my rimmy as it is just a bit short and now annoying the hell out of me BUT like a twat, I didn't look very carefully because the bloody stock is curved so cannot use it. No fool like an old fool eh....... Now have to look for a flexible pad, not what I wanted and I am not keen on cutting the stock so it can fit, I am far too much of a coward to try that. Phil
