The wind effect on the shots were as a test only not on quarry, sorry I should have said that. I didn't mean to use HV 22LR instead of HMR, more to see how useful it would be, I do tend to get up close and personal with rabbits where I can and now looking at a suitable alternative to my FAC air rifle (FX Impact 47fpe) and my .22LR using subs. My pal went the HMR route and I have been mulling over HMR and WMR and hear great things about both with each having their own strengths, it is just down to me as to which route to take, hence brain hurt........ I have had one of these for the past 4 years with no issues but only shows metres so if you want yards, it may not suit. Nice bit of kit and to be honest with Hawke, you are paying for the name, they they all made in China and possibly in the same factory as often happens with plenty of other products so why pay a lot of money when there are plenty of decent ones around. I paid £68 on ebay for the Vision King and think I spent well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Visionking-Laser-Range-Finder-Hunting/dp/B00HT5H1HO/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1527148000&sr=8-25&keywords

Not quite sure but I heard a short while ago that Remington was closing down. They are or were part of the giant Dupont group so if the figures don't stack up any more !! If this is true, it will be very sad to see a shooting company with so much history to disappear from the shelves so I hope I am wrong with this. Interesting about the range of ammo available and some of the speed variations, certainly makes me wonder if it is worth looking into some of the faster HV ammo for longer shots before jumping ship. After spending the morning doing some zero work on my pal's new Bro

Just glad I don't eat any of the rabbits we shoot, sooner sell them instead. A nice plump woody, now that is a different matter all together. Phil

No more pcp`s only spring rifles with my HW 100`s
philpot replied to mark williams's topic in Airgun Hunting
I will stick with pcp's not because they are better but more a case of me being worse with a springer.............. I will say that I totally understand where you are coming from regarding a higher level of satisfaction using a springer, I really did when I was using my TX after tuning, bloody fantastic and certainly put a smile on my face when I had produced a good group on the range. The same applied when I was shooting an HW57, bang on pellet on pellet and because it is much lighter than other under lever springer rifles, one WILL sooner or later sit in my cabinet but not for hunting, -
I find this really interesting bunch of posts. I looked at some info from Hawke scopes the other day regarding speed of various ammo which was quite handy to know. .22LR subs = 1057fps .22LR HV = 1260fps .17HMR = 2500fps .22WMR =2000fps So from that I see that .22LR subs and HV are not much different in terms of speed although I am not sure if 203fps will make any real difference other than HV being louder. What I am really trying to get my head around is the real difference between HMR and WMR. There is a 500fps speed advantage with HMR but affec

I simply love my fac .25, never owned a gun like it and my 'go to' gun. You are right Mitch regarding outright kills, never fails to impress me how well they seem to dispatch the quarry but the biggest surprise of all to me is the trajectory of these .25 pellets with 47fpe up their skirts, just superb. I also use the Impact for close up ratting, why...... because I can walk down the cow sheds with this at hip height strapped with a Nitesite on and the gun is just so easy to use in this way and the balance is brilliant, this style has also accounted for quite a few rabbits as well but not

Shame you had to shoot the pet rabbit though ?. We have quite a few black bunnies on one of my perms along with really bright ginger rabbits as well. My pal has an HW110 and loves it, must admit I really do like the feel of them. Phil

I think you are right Mick, it looks to be the same unit. I am not buying one as already said but for FAC air or rimfire .22LR /.17 HMR / .22WMR the ranges would easily be within the reach of this unit. I will stick with my two Nitesite units because I have bought them but also because my right eye (master eye ) is nowhere near as good as it should be and using both eyes is much easier for me at night. Now that looks fantastic Mitch, well impressed but as I bought a New Nitesite Wolf last week, the pocket is empty. I really think that has the Ward 800 well beaten because it has so many options for use. A very exciting product. A massive bonus is the fact that it takes 18650 batteries which are easily available and of course rechargeable so you can keep a few in your pocket for those long sessions, I must have about 15 of those batteries lying around now. It is that logic that has put me off the HMR although I think I will go for a .22WMR which again has a good selection of ammo to offer for different situation according to what I have learned so far. I am interested to know which ammo produced the very high speed though in .22LR because that may well be a route I would like to have a look at as well. Phil

Welcome aboard Webbo and enjoy your new gun matey. Phil

Sorry Wilbur, not known to me and I would not buy an add-on nv at that sort of money, I would however splash the cash for a good Pulsar unit. I use two Nitesite nv units for my shooting which is a shed load cheaper that a Pulsar which is why I use them. If you can afford the price talk to Ianb on here for sound advice and model selection. I have used a Maxus and have to say that it shot very very well. Whilst not being a big fan of semi auto, they are superb for hide shooting it is just the hassle of picking up the empty shells that seem to land all over the place..............................I am waffling on, I am told the Browning Maxus is great to work on with all parts being easy to get hold of. If I was to buy a semi auto again, despite having a couple of Hatsans just for hide work that were cheap as chips and totally reliable, I would have the Maxus every time if it was to be my only gun. I would however shoot my Ber

I have the Anschutz 1417 .22LR which is light and very accurate with RWS Subs but twice the price of either Browning 'T' bolt or CZ. Phil

I did wonder if the face of the loading port could be sprayed white so as to see more easily to load the pellet. Si did tell me that it is a very tight fit but it is just a thought. Phil

Yes I have seen them Mitch but I cannot justify the price, it fcuks the pension very quickly, I can get two 16 shot for that price. I agree with you that they really do look good and I did read on a US forum that they were better made although I think the standard Impact mag works faultlessly. Phil -
I WILL get one of these one day...... Phil

Take sarnies, we did and on a lovely day it was really nice just sitting out and FAR better than the white fish n chips. Phil

This was the third one I went to and have to say that they have this show just about right in my mind. Sorry I missed Jimmy and Si, I was late in setting off this year so must have missed you guys as I arrived, what a shame. I bought an item I was not intending to buy buy the price ................................................ wow. A Nitesite Wolf for £319 down from £599, I know the ebay sellers have suddenly started to offer deals on them because of the new Dark Ops version which I am not at all bothered about and am very happy to make the saving instead. I tested it out last nig

Thanks Si, very nice but at $90 each, I don't think so, I will leave that for Mitch as he has a better budget than me. Phil -

That is quite impressive Mitch. I assume there is a button battery inside, just wonder how tricky it is to replace them or is the gauge a throw away item so when the battery has conked out, replace the whole gauge. Phil
