  1. i must be a poor trainer my terriers catch rate is maybe one in a hundred. that would be around one every three years and non of my terriers have caught a healthy rabbit in the open. i need to get out where you guys are at
  2. well my first impression of terrierwork was in lancashire. i was allowed to tag along with a few older hands when i was a spotty kid, there would have been no two in a bed nonsense. the dogs had to be right up for the job and the lads where like fecking JCBs . they knew there stuff alright. the only difference i could see from then till now was the fact that the dogs where dug to without a locator. although they had one between them. i never saw it used. there was no mercy from them if a dog wasnt right it never came home with them. oversized terriers or mute terriers wouldnt be of any use to
  3. how did the little russell fare .
  4. really like this terrier. looks spot on from the pic.
  5. i have a bitch the spit of the plummer type on the right. uncanny likeness.
  6. i dont think there will be many folk that has been in the terrier game a while that cant relate to this post. i agree with FD. self entering terriers should be bred for. but will also state that they are also the easiest to spoil by there very nature. ive seen some cautious dogs make good workers. and by there nature they would be difficult to spoil. as they would only go when they felt they where ready. (doesnt sound right on paper but at least i know what i mean. )
  7. great shots them paulus proper fuzzy backgrounds
  8. nice to see threads like this. everyone's a winner.
  9. i like his dog. my dogs like his collars ive had this collar for nearly a decade. its a little more supple but much the same as when i bought it. you get what you pay for.
  10. i find the best to be early starters in the hands of folk that can read a dog. and isnt fooled into thinking youthfull enthusiasm means they are mature enough to enter. ive seen terriers entered at around the year mark. and the same dogs at two years have almost doubled in bulk. and are much more capable physically and mentally . i often wonder what the benefit of entering a dog before its mature is. (anybody?). i also wonder if the cull rate would drop dramatically if more terriers where entered with a little more care and patience. there is also the timing to consider as certain times of yea
  11. never saw the pic so cant pass comment on that.and dont give a flying feck i have a plummer that works and suites me fine. although she wouldnt suit you. you can correct me if i am wrong. but i remember saying i would bring my young crossbred down you had a lot of rats to go at i am of the opinion you wouldnt give a plummer a fair crack of the whip. i'm also worried you may be a knob jockey.
  12. its good to have a laugh at these things. but if you are up often and dribbling. ffs get it checked out. then come on here with the funny stories. . just remember to pick up your dignity on your way out. ....a stitch in time.

  16. and one of these to carry the marsbar
  17. we all have our own idea;s on working dogs and its good to have our differences. it makes for interesting debate. the worry i have is that when folk are called out. there pride can be wounded. and this is especially true with the minority breeds like plummers borders etc. this could lead to images that arnt suitable for the www. just to prove a point. i take everything on here with a pinch of salt i would never call anyone a liar. unless i 100 %. new this to be the case. be that with an image of a dog or claims to have the best working terriers known to man. foxdropper you seem
  18. well done and thanks for sharing. spot on them
