As said in another thread my mate and I were on the side of the Moor in Fir woods after Hedgehog mushrooms and Winter Chanterelles. These are easy to ones to learn. Hedgehogs are White/Cream on top or it's small cousin Terracotta both edible with spikes instead of gills. I scrape the spikes off before cooking. As you can see an irregular shaped cap. The Winter Chanterelle grow in the same brash your looking and looking then find yourself standing on the thousands every where. Must have a yellow hollow stalk. Nick name Yellow foot. Not

To be fair Field mushrooms / / Horse mushrooms are not the safest but easy once you know to leave the ones that bruise yellow. There are some cracking easy ones mate the Cep / Penny bun probably the best, Look out for Hen-of-the -Wood not so common and will have to wait till next year now August - November. Did put up a list of easy good ones on one of the Mushroom threads Hedgehogs mushrooms are still hopefully still about going for a mooch today very easy very saf

Also some good Parasols about this one 8 inches across. Take them if over 6 inches across is safest. I like them sort of nutty taste but they don't keep long. Should have a snake skin appearance to the stem and you can move the skirt ring up and down. Parasol WWW.WILDFOODUK.COM A great tasting, easy to identify mushroom that is large enough to spot from afar. Cheers Arry

Theres some cracking Horse Mushrooms about at the moment, if any body is interested. the one in my hand in 8 inches the other to about 6 inches across. Horse Mushroom WWW.WILDFOODUK.COM A great mushroom with a rich, strong taste and as it can grow so large and in rings, usually provides quite a feast. Cheers Arry
