Birch Polypore a not tasty but very interesting fungi. All sorts of properties anti cancer anti fungal and antiseptic. The skin can be peeled off to make an antiseptic plaster a hot coal can be carried in it. Otzi the Stone Age mummy found in the Alps was found to be carrying some and though it was to treat a parasite in his gut called whip worm. Worth looking up. Cheers Arry

It is a good app Called Sky View on mine. Talking of Daughter having a blow out another goos app for finding a location or if your broken down and not knowing where you are is "What Three Words". Good for saving a location as well. Cheers Arry

Terry it's three Chicken thighs I like them better than breast. Much cheaper and tend not to dry out so much. Try to put as much veg as I can in, Purple Sprouting (put in close to the end)is coming at the moment in the garden and a leek always goes well with Chicken mate. Another thing is Chicken stock goes in which I save in the freeze in Chinese takeaway containers, I aways boil up the Chicken carcass after a roast. Cheers Arry

No idea of age of horse shoes mate I left the big one hanging on the wire by the gate. Thought someone might like it. Next time I went it was place at the foot of the Beech tree, kinda liked it there so put another there, might put a few more there. Found this heel plate this week mate, Wifey likes it so it will end up in the garden somewhere. Cheers Arry

Here is some of the junk (as Wifey calls it) etc I've found over about 18 month since I've been doing Metal detecting. Still no Hammered coin. Of course Buttons. That not counting the Horse shoes now in the hedge or hanging on the barbed wire. Not forgetting Lead loads of bits of lead and bloody square nails which I'm getting better at avoiding. People are commenting now to me about finding the horse shoes tucked in the hedge and under trees etc. Cheers Arry

Yes mate two little tags. Used to do fair bit of field walking when had a jack Russel she would be in the hedges and I would look for Flints. I would pick up a flint that had been worked and wonder what it was for and what the person was like maybe 4000 years ago. Found this one the other day once you got your eye in you can't help seeing them. It's like a scraper but has that bit sticking out about the size of your little finger nail. Probably for making a grove in wood I suppose, interesting what is in the ground. Sent photos of that Denarius to the Finds people a

I would class myself as a bit of a novice still so chuffed with that little Roman coin. Was thought until recently that the Romans never got down this far but a Villa was found about 5 miles from me. Thing is I ferret that ground but he don't want any body digging holes in the paddocks. Not found a pilgrim bottle and not much chance of any Viking stuff as they weren't very active in the South West. To be honest I'm happy if I find the odd coin wish a few more had more detail on them but it's bit like fishing you never know what going to crop up. I'm an old f****r now so helps keep m
