  1. Funny enough I think somebody had been collecting them as there were quite a few that have had their caps cut off. Cheers Arry
  2. Was looking for any thing of a Leopard Cat shot at Widdicombe in the Moor that a mate said his uncle shot. Sure enough its in the list 1988. About the same time we used to shoot a lot of Foxes for their pelts. We were drawing some covers a Widdicombe that were full of laurels and told on no account was the Ocelot to be shot. We never seen the cat but the owner was not joking. Don't know if it was the same cat. 8. In all fairness they were very comfortable and light. Just didn't stand up after 18 months wet feet then the sole started to come off. Perhaps a duff pair I don't know was used for hiking up on the Moor and in the woods after fungi. Cheers Arry
  9. Cant comment on the Desert Boots. I did have a pair of Meindl hiking boots not the same but similar and the were very light comfortable but soon let water in and didn't last long. They were out of warranty but I still complained, offered me a pair at half price. Would be hard for me to buy another pair of Meindl as they weren't cheap. Cheers Arry
  10. I don't feed mine Rabbit I never have apart from a liver from time to time. For the same reason it's sometimes hard to change the diet of a ferret. It's just my way I don't want them staying on a rabbit they have killed feeding them selfs. Just my theory might not be right who know, sure I'm in for a bit of stick about it but it work for me. Cheers Arry
  11. Although thats true I don't think thats the main reason part of it mind. Think its more we had nothing we made are own excitement we followed our fathers in country pursuits. We loved ferreting, snaring, shoot borrowing the odd fish or pheasant. Sneaking off to the woods at dusk to knock a long tail off his perch with a 410. It's the way we got our excitement out witting the keeper. As we got older we drank together and are friendship is still there. If I meet any of the lads thats an hour gone just standing on the corner jawing. Youngsters today it's not enough, too much like h

  16. Think thats the way it's going mate. All the lefty's don't help people get all assie if they ask about ferreting and you tell them about dispatching rabbits. Think the media and films like Water Ship Down and Bambi don't help. Joe public think the Rabbits talk to the badgers and the Deer etc etc. Think the youngsters got so much to fill there heads with and travel is so easy. youngsters are more affluent the sports they can take up. Cheers Arry
  17. Not trying to have the last word mate. You have mellowed mate and thats good. I have no proof at all but I strongly believe there are big cats out there only from all the accounts around here. Friends and farmers have told me of their sighting in great detail and I know them they are not bull shitters. Not one of the people that have told their stories have every gone to the press in fact won't even talk about it unless encouraged by asking them. What I would say there were far more sightings 20 years ago. Still the odd one now and then and seem alway black ones here now. C
  18. When I was at school at at about the age of 12 would get the black board rubber throw at me for day dreaming looking out the window. Dreaming of being out over the fields with the ferrets. Arms all scratched up from brambles like I'd been self harming from the weekends outing. There where half a dozen in my class that went ferreting and several more in the school. They all made up about four teams in my small town, us boy loved the sport and mother loved the helping put food on the table. Back to the heading the only people ferreting in the town now is four of us old lads in our 70's that

The only Bolete I found was a Rooting Bolete none edible and come up same place every year, when cut it goes blue almost straight away. But Cep come in the same area a bit later usually so will have to keep checking. Loads and loads of field mushrooms this year, neighbours been doing okay out of it I'm a bit mushroomed out Lol.
