Rabbit control in a public park

Hi Guys

I have been contacted by the parish council as rabbits are causing a lot of damage in the small park next to the village school. The rabbits are travelling in from a neighboring disused garden but the owner does not want any measures taken against them even though she lectured me for ten minutes about the damage they are causing in her garden! So shooting and ferreting are out of the question so cage traps are the best option.  Have you guys got any recommendations for suppliers and any hints would be appreciated. Pegandgun on this forum seems to be a user of cage traps?

Beat me to it drop boxes some of the results I’ve seen on YouTube are very good but the boxes are not cheap did think about them myself for a certain spot but I was worried they would get nicked, but if it’s the council pass on the costs @sparky the hunter good luck.

Drop  boxes are very efficient but expensive as you have to rabbit mesh the whole place.

We used to have a farm in the Borders which had thousands of rabbits , the farmer put in loads of drop boxes but we used to empty them in the Summer releasing all the young  rabbits

I have done plenty of snaring but as its in a park next to a first school i think the village snow flakes would get a little upset. I cant put drop boxes in as the boundry is already fenced with very expensive looking mesh fencind. Thats why i think cage traps are the answer.

Even with cage traps you'll have people tampering with them, unless you empty them before daylight. Same with snares. Empty before daylight, if at all possible, and you'll reduce the chance of attracting tree huggers.

Night vision on an air rifle. Go late night/early hours and inform the parish council (and local plod if necessary). Don't tell anyone who might object.

If you are not allowed to shoot, you are fecked. 

Everything else is on show, traps especially.

Cage traps are not that effective for rabbits.

Just ferret it early while the fwit vegans are still trying to chew their morning lentils. If caught, say you are relocating them to a better place. It's not a lie, their spirit will go to heaven and their body, the freezer.

Depends on numbers , I know of a place where a landowner caught hundreds using cage traps , they were queuing up for the carrots.
