parents knowing or seeing the child fight for life that they may not win yet they remain dignified and strong for there child is a toughness i believe takes some beating

Tom Crean - you've probably never heard of him, but that's him in my avatar.   There are many tales of his heroism -he travelled to the Antarctic twice with Shackleton - but the best known is from S

As a Turkish mate said; no one is faster than a bullet, takes a brave man to run towards one. He was referring to Galopi and the British ;)

Brave in my eyes here is mental toughness overcoming the body's natural desire to live... Sacrifice!

Suppose it depends in what context your using the word tough.....tough as in rugged, tough mentally, tough in business......theres plenty of ways someone can prove toughness without involving violence.....but if you mean a physical confrontation....as probably the toughest most fearsome fighting man ive ever known once told me......" being tough is not enough its skills that pay the bills " ;)

Who's lenny gnash then lads spill the beans

Seen plenty of big Ard fellas chopsing off after a few jars soon shite em selves when given a slap.

Know plenty of small boxers won't take no shit off dick heads.

some of the hardest blokes I know after boxing for years are rough in many ways, but everyone of em is decent enough.

Being proper tough and knowing it means you don't go about acting a twat n picking on the weak to me. N anyone who does ain't no hard man they're nothing but a c**t

What's tough?

Is a man that has the mental and physical drive to see a violent confrontation to the end no matter the odds or risk but crumbles emotionally when loved ones are in danger, any tougher than a man that mentally breaks under a physically painful/violent situation but has the emotional strength to still operate with perfect objective clarity when his loved ones are in imminent danger?

Are they any tougher than a man that can challenge his limits of mental and physical endurance with nothing to gain? That same man might have nothing to offer in a violent situation.

I think everyone has different strengths and weaknesses in different situations.

true that, I done bit of boxing when young, and the good lads there who could deff use there selves never picked on the green lads they didn't have to as you say above. I trained for 3 years in karate and doing weights ,, our instructor was only 5ft 5-6in but very strong bloke, many time in free style after we finished classes I fight him , I spent more time on my arse or get dazed from few punches/kicks . he go in quite hard on me, but I did on him lol. But one thing in life it taught me never judge a book by it cover  people can be tough/ hard at any size just like my instructor was. The toughest/brave bloke I knew was my old dad , I looked after him when he was dying stomach/cancer , he never once moaned about it even when in terrible pain, he never show his kids 5 of us how he really felt, I know this because he told a bloke who lived a cross the road from him, that he was dying . he was brave up to the day he died, I hope I am tough and brave as him in the same situation
