Hello there Treehands, A great many thanks for your question. The first strain we stupidly let die out, we know now that our mistakes were not to keep a yard full. The strain were total freakish in nature i.e. Never let you down! We have had some good terriers from the (T line) off Bert Gripton) but that has nearly expired, very unfortunate. I have 2 terriers here from a bitch called Tinkey that came from a good friend in Ireland. Thank you once again for your reply.

Just thought I'd post a short letter of words regarding certain topics of conversation that may interest many of the terrier lads and perhaps some lasses also. Going back to the period of (1984). Regarding the year in question I received a somewhat urgent call from a life long friend who kept, bred and worked a small type Jack Russell. At the time of the of the phone call he had at the time been having certain marital problems, upon deciding he wanted to know if I would like to buy a smooth-coated Russell called (Jack). The dog was only 6 months in age and had been kept by my friend who had t

It makes a change to hear of a terrier man who thinks about the welfare of their dogs, although there are many good owners of course. -
Sparrow Hawk Prey Items.
Lutra Lutra replied to Lutra Lutra's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
Paulus, I agree with you as to the regards of some females preferring Wood-Pigeons in their quarry diet. Around 34 years ago I can clearly remember seeing a lonesome Wood -Pigeon feeding on Kale I think. Once my female Spar, Pricillia saw it she was off the fist and taking it in fine style. She excelled at Blackbirds of which I think it is some of the finest Falconry available, for sheer excitement, speed and trying to outwit the Blackbird. I have picked Blackbirds up in my hand when they have taken even the slightest of foliage, rather than face the Hawk. My famous Musket, (Jez) was a past ma -

Omanyra, that must have been a wonderful spectacle to experience. Never seen that to be honest. The Spars are so agile and they will take many Bats but many type bird. A friends female Spar managed to catch and hold a full grown Cock Pheasant many years ago now. They will take THE SOMEWHAT ELUSIVE WOODCOCK. -

Kriti, how unfortunate for you but more so for the Canary. I have suffered Bullfinches on quite a few occasions being pulled through the wire, mainly by the Musket. -
Hello to all readers, and hoping everyone is okay. I just thought of writing a short post mainly about the elusive and somewhat diminutive Sparrow Hawk. These birds have always held a fascination for myself and many other people also. You might ask that such a post belongs in the Falconry section. However, what I wanted to know was how many general Birdwatchers often watch and see Spars take natural quarry. A list of different quarry items would be of great interest from certain interested parties. Some years ago while walking with the terriers, a particular rough-coated bitch I had called Thi

Who would buy or want to read, or have in their possession a book with such a ridiculous title like (Digging The Dirt)? Since coming on this particular site I haven't heard any good words about the guy called Johnny Bluck. So now my correct suspicions have been confirmed by so many members on site. However, I ask myself he does somewhat cause quite a stir! Plummer loved raising hackles but of course love him or loathe him, he was in a different league of so-called todays Authors to whom many only produce tacky picture books!

Wildlife This Winter
Lutra Lutra replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
Neil, of course when you mention the (Grey Crow), are they the Hoodie or Hooded Crows we have here in England?Nice to hear you caught a Grey Squirrel in the trap; I detest those more than a Rat! Kingfishers are wonderful, wonderful birds and like you have correctly stated they can suffer due to them having to rely on an available food source,i.e. Fish.Do you have many Herons? I grew up not too far from a good -sized Heronry. It still exists to this day. Also do you have many good Rookeries? -
Hello Neil, I totally agree about Greenfinch numbers in certain localities, they have become quite scarce in these parts of Nottinghamshire unlike in my childhood days. I have many fond memories at my (Mothers ) house when Greenfinches were really common in numbers. However, nowadays the situation has changed in many parts of the British Isles due to certain deciding factors; intensive farming practises has been an important issue with so many farmland birds and also certain people say that high population numbers of increasing (Sparrowhawk numbers play a certain role. Paramo Fuera Showerproof Smock Advice

Are you on commission mate ?No , unfortunately! -
I use Canon, but I do think Nikon are better. But I've got too much £ worth of gear to change....maybe one day I might. The lens will be far too slow, for taking any decent image on anything other than the brightest of bright days. There will be too much blur that you'll struggle to shake off as you will not have the reserve to crank up the speed. In order to advise on lenses, i need to know what you will be photographing. Photographing both Foxes and Birdlife. same sort of thing i want to get some decent images of . good luck fella. . Hello Hjckcff, first of all my p

Paramo Fuera Showerproof Smock Advice
Lutra Lutra replied to ponte's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
The Paramo gear is really good for the outdoor enthusiast, while being extremely durable, tough and long lasting I definitely would not recommend the clothing for really serious outdoor activities involving the hunting fraternity. While it would be ideal for hiking, hill walking and following even hounds etc; I wouldn't consider it ideal clothing for the more strenuous pursuits like Ferreting and digging. In my opinion it is a little too expensive for such activities. However, it is hard wearing and totally waterproof when correctly maintained with Nikwax .TX.Direct. The Nikwax Windproofs cut -

I am an avid reader when time isn't too precious. I thought I'd ask our readers if they have read certain titles in which I have them in my collection. I am very cautious to which material I read due to certain people who have tendentious policies towards all fieldsports. I think many of my fellow sportsmen will agree not to buy certain books by Authors who are totally Anti- Hunting. However, the 2 titles in question written by prominent Authors upon their lifetimes study of the (Badger). The first title simply called (Badger) by Timothy Roper from the New Naturalist series and the second book

Not Been A Border Thread For A While. ..
Lutra Lutra replied to gnipper's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Hello Jossa, did you know (Billy Purvis) who had some good Borders? We knew and met him in the South Durham country approx 25 years ago. He was a great man but has passed by for many years now. Then there was Ray Walker also gone unfortunately, but he had some good Borders.I have seen some very good ones over the years and there has been some very hard dogs also, but came in use in various places after a stubborn fox.My brother went out with Jack Price many, many years ago but that is another story. -
Thank you to everyone for their knowledge and information. John, what would buy, why are they crap? I know it's always best to keep with the Canon so I think I will consider that avenue of thought. What gear do you use? Thank you to everyone. Lutra Lutra.

First could I say merry Christmas to all hunters on hunting life and I do hope that 2016 will be even better for everyone. I have a question to ask for certain advice about a camera lens I would be interested in. I needed certain information regarding camera lens Sigma 150-600mm. However, there are 2 different models, a Sigma150-160mm £I5-6.3 contemporary lens vs the Sigma 160-600mm DG OS HSM Sports lens.]5-6.3.I was wondering for more advice and could the lens be put her on Canon 450D? Or if be, what camera would you use it with?.

Firstly could I express my most sincere regards to Andy for a speedy recovery, and to his wife of course. If Andys wife could let me know what type of Binoculars they were please. Although, other offers have been made, Just wondering if they were after the Bins that's all. They are such low -lives.Just hope they are caught as it could have been much more serious. The hunting fraternity are often given bad press by the Anti -brigade, but when things like this happen they are the first to unite, Please let me know if you need anything. Is he sleeping okay? Please keep me informed please?
