  2. this is the spitting image of my first terrier , or i should say family terrier as he was born before me "Spot" he was out of my Taids bitch Topsy who looked the same but shorter in the leg by a dog from i think billy brooks a jcb diver who swapped terriers with and bred from Bert's dogs , i'll see if i can find a photo Hello Glyn, thanks or your reply. Thimble was half of Berts breeding and little Jack was her father.
  3. Topsy is on the left laid down on my bed and Tiger was stood up , they were litter brother and sister. Tiger never made the grade it could keep up with any hounds and ran for miles the dog would kill foxes if he managed to happen upon a fox in some cover, then it was brutal. "Who wants that when you can feed a good dog and get the hole package.

  11. My little Nephew with my little bitch Thatch a very clever dog on Foxes and an excellent dog for working Rabbits and was 100 per cent broke to Ferrets. She's been gone a few years and still sorely missed. I bred her myself and I loved her temperament but unfortunately she could be very shy, (and no I never raise my hands to my dogs as it only takes one to look into a dogs eye.
  12. Myself many years a go pictured together with our great friend (Bert Gripton) I'm holding Truman. Bert has his old dog Tiger and his bitch thimble.
  13. Thimble , a very good bitch. In the Christmas period of the mid 90.s she entered into an old incinerator and was underground for 11 days we eventually reached near to Christmas Eve. I sure drank some Whisky that evening.
  14. I do apologise if any members think I blow my own trumpet, I'm not like that at all. Also I would sooner do someone a good turn other than a bad one. A while ago I helped someone who I thought was a friend, I loaned him a considerable amount of money, all I've had back is the paltry sum of £250 pounds. The guy is from Manchester and he owes myself a fair bit of money which is still outstanding. "You try to help people and that's what happens. "Just thought I'd bring the subject up as I have been watching closely the good natured guys and perhaps Lasses who also tried to help a hunting life me

  16. budharley, I can remember reading Mavro's Hawk for a Bush when I was just 15 years of age. Also wanted his other great book, A Falcon in the Field but was far too expensive for a lad of my age. Nowadays things have changed. I have 2 1st editions of Falcon in the Field, both very good condition and one is signed. Plus I perhaps have the finest 1st edition copy of Hawk for A Bush in the country.
  17. I haven't been at all good just recently due to 2 near mental -breakdowns. However, when I READ POSTS LIKE THESE, LIFE FEELS SOMEWHAT BETTER ONCE AGAIN. If it is Gods will I might just cross paths eventually with some genuine folk off this forum. I'm looking for a new motor car, van etc. So who knows what will happen? The Nightjars will be back on the breeding ground again, so that is something to look forward to. "May God be with you all"..... God bless everyone and their home. Regards, Lutra...
  18. I didn't know whether to reply to this topic to be honest. But some remarks had myself in hysterics, really did. The person I am I expect so much from people, men and women. When it comes to women I am so choosy, they have to be naturally very good looking. But I have been in certain relationships with some really beautiful plain Janes. Making rude noises is definitely a real put off, and I've been in places and heard some (burping) which is another put off. Also I want one who is very intelligent and somewhat ambitious. With myself being quite introverted at times, I like women who are c
  19. thanks for that lutra we seem to share very simular views on the people meant to be protecting what we love, I really have know interest in walking up a Tarmac path to watch nature from an appointed spot, the bird I saw is skirting on the edge of a few hundred acres of old English type woodland, dotted with a few acres of conifer, there is also a golf course and many acres of marshland nearby, on the downside there are also two or three small pheasant shoots on the edge of these woods though not directly we're I saw the bird, I will keep you posted if I get any more sightings, I,m on the trail
