  1. At the moment I'm just looping mine through the pouch, seems to be holding up pretty well.
  2. Thanks The one, does that apply to cattle farms too? It's just sheep and cows near me
  3. Some interesting replies to this thread. There seems to be two main sticking points to this thread. 1. Killing a magnificent fish I agree that pike are great, I have enjoyed catching them for years. But in my eyes they are part of an ecosystem, much like a fox. If I struggled to catch pike then I wouldn't take fish from that water as they clearly are low on numbers. If someone said on THL that you shouldn't hunt foxes? I was expecting a more open minded response to be honest. 2. Few of you would entertain eating pike Again seems a little closed minded, other than those th
  4. Thanks Rez. What do you lads think about following up a couple of weeks later to the maybes?
  5. Would have said honey fungus and trametes versicolour at a vague guess. Wouldn't bet my life on it though
  6. Look forward to seeing what comes back from this. My first reaction would have been a crap shot from one of the estate guns but seen as you have ruled that out it could well be poachers. Definitely neck shot??

  8. Cheers Walshie, that was a very good and informative read, never really thought of it as a sales pitch but makes sense really! Some good points in there that I'll be useing this week
  9. Ey up folks, I know this has probably been done to the death, but I'm looking for some advice on the do's and dont's when chatting to the farmer. I've been pushing hard recently door knocking to get permission on land with the air rifle. I normally start with sorry to bother you, I'm just wondering if I could help you out with some pest control for free? And have a wee chat about what I can do with the air rifle regarding pests that they have a problem with, and leave my name number etc, and every single one has said I'll give you a call if we need you. Is there anything I can do to c

  12. As above same weight of fruit to sugar, but we use jam sugar it never fails to set but it's not the cheapest option. Just boil it all up, give it a few mins then test on a cold saucer if it's set.

  18. Hi Jok! Had to put this on the back burner for the time being but definitely still after a muntjac. Might have to wait for after Xmas now as I doubt money will allow. I've been promising my lass an engagement ring so I best keep my word! I have some relatives in Peterborough so I might well travel down for a few days and see if I can set up a day stalking around oxford area while I'm at it is I understand they get some numbers of muntjac down there

  20. Cheers for the replies gents. I've got 2 potential spots for them one being the canal and the other slow flowing silty river. Guess I will just try one and see what it's like then.
  21. Well gents the trout season has ended and with it so has my supply of fish. I regularly fished on my membership taking a couple of brownies once a month or so. The only other freshwater fish I'm legal to take is jack pike upto 5lbs, and with the nights drawing in a bit of dead baiting in the dark would be on the cards. Has anyone taken them for the pot? Any good? And any tips re prep? Shame I can't take grayling as I imagine they would be a good eat
