  1. If IKEA is a sane man's Hell then that shop would be a sane man's Heaven. Would probably wake the next day though feeling like a Bullseye winner... what the bloody hell am I going to do with this boat (other than using it to store my Moose heads)?
  2. Looks Quite leggy that...Nice
  3. I watched the funeral in the same place that I watched the Queen's funeral. Most of the old people went to sleep very quickly today. Not a patch on the Queen's send off. Even Shane MacGowan's was better.
  4. Newcastle v Ipswich - that young lad Osula looks like Joelinton x cartoon Tasmanian devil full of cocaine. Should be interesting next season
  5. Haven't been to a show in years, would have popped up if in on Sunday. Watching the Newcastle game tomorrow after visiting the parents, a sad state affairs I know. One time football always came 2nd to anything working dog related. Not that I have anything to show now apart from a terrier approaching 15 who would be too decrepit even for the veteran's class and would be lucky to make it around the ring more the once. These days would also more than likely bite the judge. Coincidentally the Russell bitch in the attachments was bred at the Tynedale kennels mid 1980's. 100% working bred but
  6. I think getting a dog wed to hunting above ground is something that we can take for granted, and getting them out with other "made" dogs is of a massive benefit, if possible. Starting a runner easy, there's a rabbit, go on son. Terriers below ground, so much is instinct and breeding resulting in instant reward if trying them in the right places. Crashing through thick cover for very little reward can be a difficult thing to get a young dog on its own tuned into no matter how good its nose and prey drive.
  7. It took me years of therapy but I am in good place now. No longer a narcissist.
  8. Many of us have orchestrated our own downfall, but... he is the Pope of snatching defeat from victory. God bless BFS.
  9. With lads improving Bedlingtons with working terrier outcross probably explains parti-colour.
  10. The last time in Rome I attended the Pope's Address in St. Peter's Square. Cannot remember which Pope. Rang man and dad's landline and held my mobile up so that they could listen to him. Apparently tears were streaming down mam's cheeks. After that mam often told people that I had met the Pope . They got a signed congratulatory certificate on their 60th wedding anniversary. I'm not knocking it, quite envious of GOOD people with faith. R.I.P.
  11. I was an alter boy for years and never got interfered with, and in the words of Micky Flanagan, I was a stunner.
  12. Brought back my a missionary, hoping to get somewhere in the middle east for his next assignment
  13. I did watch the Newcastle game. Even though Villa also had a mid-week match and have played more than us this season fatigue must have been a contributing factor on our performance. The energy and intensity that we played with on Wednesday cannot be repeated 3 days later. Highlighting the need for more depth next season when we will have mid-week games in Europe. Easier said than done of course even without FFP, or whatever it is called now, to replicate the quality and character of players that we have recruited since the takeover. My original plans for the game had changed as the Villa
  14. Did Newcastle have a game yesterday? Oh, dear, I seemed to have missed that 1 and so could not possibly comment.
  15. A friend in need is a feckin pain in the arse.
  16. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
  17. sees it as his moral obligation to be utterly obnoxious to people... love that
  18. 2 very obvious things that stand out with America's Vietnam war is the lack of discipline and motivation of their soldiers. 100% understandable as those poor kids were plucked from civilian life and put into hell. When it comes to war the USA are more akin to Russian than Britain and that is as true now as ever. In WW2 they criticised us for being "too cautious", same in Iraq. Our strength for centuries has been professionalism and punching way above our weight, not chucking men and money at a conflict and seeing who has the most of each. That was never going to defeat the Vietnamese unless th
  19. A valid point, particularly in these days of religious extremism. Not relevant to my childhood. I regard myself as fortunate to be brought up in a safe, loving environment by great parents. When I told them that I did not have the faith that they had it was met with disappointment but not drama. Using the argument that they had brought me up to be honest. Some of it I have always kept with me such as treat others the way you would want to be treated yourself, dad taught me that. Other things not so much, such as turn the other cheek. I have found that knocking the c**t out is a better option.
  20. Mam used to make fish and chips for lunch (dinner we called it back then), then off to 3 O'clock mass. The longest most boring mass of the year followed by the Stations of the Cross. Count down to chocolate on Easter Sunday though after having given up sweets for Lent
  21. An important day in the Catholic calendar. Despite being a lapsed Catholic for many years, I still try and refrain from eating meat on Good Friday. If I slip up or forget it does not take long for the Catholic guilt to creep in. Bless me father for I have sinned, I had a bacon sandwich for breakfast.. Funny how it stays with you.
  22. I don't know about war. I've never been near one. I have known and know men who have. But the Americans seem to winge about it more than us.
  23. The film, the Madness of King George? It was originally titled the Madness of King George III, but the producers feared that Americans would not go and pay to watch it as they had not seen I and II.
  24. My basic, and I stress basic, understanding, is that when the French lent the support of their navy, with an eye on India, king George III, said f###k it, let them have it.Not willing to weaken our navel power on the other side of the Atlantic.
  25. Did they though? In so much as the USA defeated GB in a proper war. The USA did not exist, it was an uprising in one of our colonies and the calculated decision was made to let them have their independence rather than commit too many resources and weaken our protection of India which was considered more valuable. Then we had a war with the USA a few years later when they tried to claim Canada and we kicked their arses.
