An important day in the Catholic calendar. Despite being a lapsed Catholic for many years, I still try and refrain from eating meat on Good Friday. If I slip up or forget it does not take long for the Catholic guilt to creep in. Bless me father for I have sinned, I had a bacon sandwich for breakfast.. Funny how it stays with you.

I don't know about war. I've never been near one. I have known and know men who have. But the Americans seem to winge about it more than us.
-
The film, the Madness of King George? It was originally titled the Madness of King George III, but the producers feared that Americans would not go and pay to watch it as they had not seen I and II.

My basic, and I stress basic, understanding, is that when the French lent the support of their navy, with an eye on India, king George III, said f###k it, let them have it.Not willing to weaken our navel power on the other side of the Atlantic.

Did they though? In so much as the USA defeated GB in a proper war. The USA did not exist, it was an uprising in one of our colonies and the calculated decision was made to let them have their independence rather than commit too many resources and weaken our protection of India which was considered more valuable. Then we had a war with the USA a few years later when they tried to claim Canada and we kicked their arses.

I had a visit this week from a work colleague based in our head office from down in that there London. I mentioned electrical discrimination, which is basically if you get a fault on a lighting circuit then only the circuits' protective device will trip and the rest of the installation will not be effected. He informed me that the preferred term is now selectivity not discrimination as no form of discrimination is acceptable. He wasn't being a dick, just educating me on something that I should have already been aware of. I am not making this up. He also told me that down in that there Lon

Only species of proper shark that I have seen in real life are Blue sharks. Proper by my definition being true predators, Whale and Basking sharks are pathetic sharks, shark vegans almost. Caught plenty dog fish species, love them, but the Blues are beautiful things. Not proper sharks even, not big enough to eat people, but lovely and shark enough to appreciate. On a boat catching them, not swimming with them.

Schar winding up their young left back at every opportunity. Trying get a reaction but at the same time educating the young lad in the dark arts. Then a team mate getting carded trying to protect him. Loved it.

I recorded Covers in the Piano Room at the BBC and have just listened to it.The musicians probably top of their game. The guest singers, ditto. The songs? No doubt some of the best ever written. But what a load of soul less energy sapping pretentious shite. Hear better renditions of some of those songs when a drunk grabs the mike at the end of the night. String section? To be used sparingly if at all for those songs.

I've always been fascinated by sharks, the proper ones, the ones that will eat you. Get pissed off with the people who make carefully orchestrated documentaries when they swim with Great Whites or Tiger's trying to give them good PR and portray as just misunderstood and harmless. 100% agree we should not be killing them, but they regard us as prey and eat us. Cool things.

So you wont keep another ferret or dog? That's what you think Thank you for your interesting posts, always liked them.

My very basic understanding is that in the UK an employer must provide a workplace pension and they contribute into it, so he hopefully he already has one. The employee then pays in a fixed minimum contribution unless requests to contribute more. For a young person it would probably be better to pay into an ISA rather than increased pension payments simply because your ISA money can be withdrawn at any time. In a pension it is tied up for the long term, but has more growth. The big thing is paying the mortgage off. The banks will always charge you more interest on a mortgage than the

If a lurcher needs another type of dog to find and present its game to it, is that dog a lurcher? Whippets and greyhounds are the best at catching stuff.

Magic beans will never depreciate in value, and the Emperor's new clothes will never go out of fashion.

Perhaps she had been stirring things with the wrong sorts of people?

Gold? I refer you Gordon Brown, one time Chancellor of the Exchequer. Unfortunately not many people are as stupid as he was... Rachel Reeves is having a go though.

True, no need to panic as that's how these things work. I have made changes recently into how I save my hard earned money. Sod's Law. Lucky to have some to save though.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but for anyone with personal or company pensions who has not checked the growth this month brace yourselves. Big drop in the pots since February. All down to Donald Trump's shenanigans apparently.

I thought a Foxback stamp. Not that I know the person or his dogs, just from seeing pictures on here. Cracking looking types for work.

I watched the Manchester derby today. United and City being 2 of the greatest clubs in the EPL era. Absolute dross from both of them. It really is a funny old game.

I remember him. Remember my man and dad loving him. Seemed odd at the time as he was a "coloured" gentleman. When it comes to sport and winning medals... all are appreciated.

Lost all interest after the Waterloo Cup was taken away from us. The Grand National was a side show run up to the cup.
