  1. mine was a pair of rabbits at 110 yards away. shot one with hmr the other was still there but i missed. he then moved off to around 125 yards away where i got him
  2. burris have good optics prob better then leupold but i bet there service isnt as good
  3. will do mate. i have been shooting with him when he used his and the hare call was bringing the foxes in. have vixen calls, other rabbit calls, and baby rabbit calls to ! for the money you aint going to get better to be fair. and with the choice of all the different calls your sorted. i no he has done a couple for other people. if anyone wants one pm him for it a price with post.
  4. well thanks to my mate jonty i have a fox caller now. ive been after one for a bit now but with other things needed more i couldnt get round to paying £180 odd pound for one of the decoying.co.uk ones. so jonty made me one with some bits off the net. got a little amp and speaker and added my little mp3 to it with calls on and im away. well the caller mite not be up to the decoying ones for 30 pound its much cheaper ! and i can add calls when i need with no extra cost. unlike the decoying.co.uk unit which you have to buy cards for. here is a couple of pics
  5. the savage secondhand would have been fine mate as long as you had a good look at the bore. mind you remmys are good. lots of after market parts. i would stick the night eatter on there and get the trigger adjusted. then safe for some better optics. what is the stock like on the remmy ? is it the h&s stock
  6. dont no on the swaro or s&b it all depends on the style of shooting you do. ie.. you can have the best glass in the world but if you dont get the right crosshair for the job the scope is usless. i no the above to is way a head of leuepold in my eyes
  7. hi mate have you looked on the net for any pictures of how to strip it ? if you cant find any have a look on bbs and ask as there are alot of guys on there with tikkas. and im sure if no one on here has done it someone will have done it on there. hope you get it sorted
  8. get one you wont be sorry. make sure it as the better trigger on it and your be happy. look up the reviews on the net about them and on the usa sites. your see why lots of people have them
  9. you wont get much better shooter right out the box then a savage mate. i was close to buying one in 22/250. and all the reviews i had been reading up on them where top marks for accuracy. dead easy to rebarrel to if needed in the future. sako are nice rifles dont get me wrong but there alot of money and i bet no more accurate then the savage. i guess your paying for the sako brand and build which is a good thing. i would see what rifles you like the feel of in the shop. the new winchester mod 70 looks a good bet to im glad i got one in 22/250 and wouldnt swap it for any other rifle.
  10. hey mate where about in the uk are you
  11. i have vermin and fox for both hmr and 22/250 on mine deker. and soon as i can be bothered to send it back in they will add cwd and munjac to it. even tho we dont get cwd in my parts. lots of munjac tho and roe. shame the law here wasnt the same as scotland where roe are down for 22 centrefire as well
  12. i have cz varmint with 16in barrel and whildcat whisperer mtc viper 6x24x56 i have vermin and fox down on my ticket. there is no way i would try and take a fox out at 150 yards. 150 yards is to far, 50 to 70 yes as you will get a good head shot but with 150 if you miss and wound the fox it will then die a nasty death and im not into that Spud as far as I am concerned a head shot is a big no no regardless of range - the engine room is the only place to hit in my opinion with your target broadside. What do others think? im the other way on this mate a head shot is the only
  13. im lefthanded but i perfer the bolt being on the right. as long as the stock isnt in your face its fine.
  14. its not just about the money its about have more accurate ammo mate
  15. it can mate but to keep the centrefire clean sort a rod out. it will get crap out the boresnake leaves behind
  16. why does he need to get a new rifle. it would take two mins to zero the 22lr then when you cange to hmr barrel work out hoe many clicks it is on scope. write it down and next time you no right away. as for the burris scope stay clear of it its a pile of shit. i wouldnt go for chest shot on hmr for fox i would go head shot. side ways on between the ear and eye. thats the best place. keep the range down to a maximum of 100 yards. and only that if you no you can shoot one at that range. also be carefull as some forces dont let you use hmr for fox. i have it for fox on my ticket. but i per
  17. i guess that5s down to different chambers and stuff deker
  18. iv seen primers make a massive differance.....3" group down to sub 1" just on a primer change...they make a much bigger diference than people give them credit for.... god that sounds like some magic primers woz where he get them from
  19. 40 grain to 55 will be the best for your rifle. i no the steyr ssg 22/250 has a 1 in 12 twist and can shoot bullets to 60 grain. but i guess the extra powder and speed of the 22/250 in a 1 in 12 will more then likely help this. that mite not be the case with 223 with 1 in 12. still never mind in my eyes the point of a foxing round is to have it fast and flat so 40 to a 55 grain will be perfect. i would tr 50's in it
  20. look at the bushnell elite 4200 6x24x50 mate
  21. what ever you get get it now as all the reloading gear i have seen is going up. the rockchucker press by rcbs was around 120 pound now its 165 on most sites !
  22. hi mate i no a guy that could sort you a deal on one. and at much better prices then guntrader pm me for details
  23. i would have 223. 204 is flater and less recoil but 223 you can by cheap rounds for and reload for next to nothing. 204 is a rifle i think that inless you reload isnt worth having
  24. you can get a m16 look alike its called the ar15. of course you cant have it in auto or semi auto ! but they are staight pull so you can reload quick if you need to. it shouldnt matter what rifle you have who cares what people think as look as you own it and its legal who cares
  25. hi mate a zeiss conquest will be nice if you can find one. it has target turrets to. as for the 243 ai then i wouldnt buy one inless you no the guy who is selling one and you trust that the rifle is been well looked after. if you want one buy a worn 243 and then spend the extra you have saved for the price of a new one and have it rebarreled in 243 ai. that way your have the ai plus you can have match barrel on it
