  1. your right there mate ive seen what a mates 222 does with the 50 grain vmax and it opens them right up
  2. depends on time of the year. thats why i like the early dark nights you can get out early and get home early. last year as it was dark late we where not getting out till gone 9 and coming in at 4 in the morning be good to live in norway for some many months of the year when its dark all the time ! but the other months of the year when its light all the time wouldnt be as good
  3. 1 in 12 will be i deal for foxes with a 40 or 50 grain bullet. if i was after a 223 i would have the tikka with a 1 in 8 i think it is. that way you can shoot the heavy bullets but also be able to shoot 55 grains to. your have the best of both worlds then
  4. I stand corrected - but I was always led to believe that it was the speed (whether you let the barrel cool down or not) that burnt barrels - as in the 17 rem's barrel life was assumed short because of the velocity of the bullet. alot of high power loads aint going to do a standard barrel much good your right but you think of it its heat that does the harm. if you fired alot of loads that are not fast it would still do more damage then firing a hot load which has been letf to cool properly. that and lack of proper cleaning is the killer. a guy on the bbs that has put 1000's of r
  5. You need a forming die to neck down and alter the shoulder angle. yes thats right mate but no need to fire form
  6. you use the 223 cases for the 20 tac no need to fire form them
  7. look on ebay at the kg1 range of stuff mate. its free post to. i use it and its the bollocks
  8. its not speed that will kill the barrel its heat mate. as long as you let it cool after so many shots it will be fine. but i wouldnt use 35 grains in it they will be all over the place i bet and will more then likely fall to pieces before hitting the target
  9. yes you would need a speaker to make it louder mate
  10. you dont get much more hilly then scotland mate. im sure your be more then fine for the land you have. what i would do is look on the net at your ground work out any footpaths and print a copy off of your land you can allways show the flo then that you no the lay out perfect
  11. leave my zeiss on 12 mag if you have it two high you will cut your field of view down and you allso see yourself shaking when its on full mag.
  12. 22/250 gets my vote. very fast and flat and hits hard
  13. Not so true, funny enough i've shot about rabbits this year, and the ones that wern't headshots didn't really get blown to bits, some can though. yes your right it depends where the bullet hits. if it hits bone in the head it will rip the head right open
  14. i find it hard to believe a hmr barrel being burnt out. it must have had a life with no cleaning. just clean the rifle as and when the groups open up
  15. go with what your ground suites you if you can knock rabbits off at yards then the 22lr is best. if there over that then hmr is better
  16. you would be hard pushed to burn out a 22/250 if your just using it for foxing. the fps isnt the barrel killer its the heat. as long as you dont use it like a gatling gun and you let the barrel cool down between 4 to 5 rounds then it will last for ages. as for them being very noisy compared to 223 thats not true with a ase cqb mod on my 22/250 is isnt any louder then my mates 223 with the same mod. it would be hard to say which is louder to be fair. 223 is a cracking fox round dont get me wrong but i like the 22/250 its flater and hits harder. but after all dead is dead. as for
  17. my mate shoots 40 grain vmax in his 222 cz and loves them. he used 50 grain ones but once he tryed 40 grain he stuck with them.
  18. try the scope on a different rifle i would. im guessing its the scope. ive heard bad things about the bsa scopes mate and there build
  19. if i wanted one rifle to shoot fox and rabbit and not keep the rabbits then i would have a 204. but i like the rabbits for the table to 17 hmr or 22lr is the one to have. all centrefires are to much for rabbits i think if you plan to eat them. if not and its just vermin control to keep numbers down then 204 is ideal
  20. This is the size barrel Tikka are now shipping virtually all their rifles into the uk, and screw cut .....and mine is going to be cut down to 19" today!! yes its a new rifle it came with the 20 inch barrel and screwcut. The rifle is grouping under half an inch at 100 metres hope to get it tried out at 200 metres soon. I wasnt sure how the rifle would group further out so far so good. if i was after a 223 i would have a tikka mate for sure there the best all round accurate rifle on the market for the money i think. i bet it will still group under 1 inch at 200 yards mate just g
  21. 40 grain bullets up to 55 will be fine but i would uses 50 grain bullets in it
  22. maybe a bad batch the bullet heads mite not be expanding. if it was me i would use 50 grain bullets in the 22/250 thats what i perfer. abit more speed then 55 grain but hits harder then 40 grains.
  23. 26 inch or 28 inch will be perfect
  24. i wouldnt bother with the proof if you want to keep the rifle anyway.
