  1. is it roe you mainly shoot mr l ? my cousin has just been given some permission for us thats 400 acres. and its teaming with roe and munjac well i can get munjac for my 22/250 i will have to get 243 for the roe. if its as full as we have been told then 243 is the only way. what rounds do yuo guys use for roe in 243 ?
  2. i had the style in 16 inch barrel with brooks trigger kit. and would have one tomorrow if given the chance. accurate as hell and easy to keep clean. get one mate there superb. and why have the extra weight of the varmint barrel when its a rimfire. after all they dont get hot so accuracy wont be afeccted like a centrefire would
  3. just put up with it for now mate. it will soon come off. i had mentoring on my 22/250 for fox and vermin ! had it for around 8 months as i couldnt be bothered to send it off as there was a back log. anyway it picked up and i sent it off and now i have hmr and 22/250 open for vermin and fox. i got my mates to write a letter in for me to send. and explain about my shooting and they where fine with it i also spoke to flo in the local gunshop the other day and he said i could add cwd and munjac to my fac now for the 22/250 even tho we dont get the cwd around here. my cousin just
  4. pointless imo mate. 22/250 needs to be pushed fast and hard. thats what makes it a 22/250. if you want to use subs shoot a 22lr the rabbits wont be scared of the noise of the 22/250. dont forget its loud at the rifle. but popping rabbits off over a couple 100 yards away they wont no whats hit them
  5. if you wanted to push 55's fast you should have gone for the 22/250 after all but if you can push 58 grain vmax fast then there isnt going to be much in it. which ever way its still going to be nice and flat. and more then you need for foxing at night
  6. 18 inch is the perfect lenght for hmr. i have the annie hmr its got 18 inch barrel and i have a over barrel mod to on it. very compact
  7. for the money of both rifles mr l you could buy a nice custom 22/250 that would be nice.
  8. ive shot pigeons out the trees with my hmr but not stood under them ! i was on a bank and the trees was in a vally below. i had a clear view all round. so why isnt that safe ? as long as you no the ground and can see the back stop there is no difference in shooting down a hill side taking a pigeon off a branch. to shooting a pigeon on the floor down the hillside
  9. where did you get it from mate ? cant you have a word with them and get it swapped ? i no there is a lad on the bbs called the wildthing he as a 204 and he gets good groups with his. maybe have a word with him and try some different loads
  10. i wouldnt clean the barrel of a air rifle if anything it will me more accurate with lead in it.
  11. it was on pigeon watch mate like the lad below said. bob is his name. but looks like it has gone.if thats the case i would just get one mate. you wont beat them for the money. i like the 6x24x56 victory one but its around £1300 now ! i see one for sale at £1000 and have the money here to buy it. and would have sold my conquest on for £500 to £600 pound but that has gone now to jamie if that is the scope off the pigeonwatcher board then it is gone i' afraid. keith yes it was bobs scope mate
  12. i got mine for £410 but that was before the prices went tits up. i no of one for sale but its 600 pound ! maybe you could try knock him down abit tho
  13. you cant rebarrel the 204 for 22/250 anyway so i would trade it in and get a savage mr l
  14. 12 inch would make superb rifle for out of the window of a 4x4.
  15. same here. tho the best i had on it was a bushnell 4200 elite tactial. better under the lamp
  16. it should be ok just neck sizing them if anything i would say he has a problem with the extractor. how old is the rifle ? if its under warrenty then take it back to the shop
  17. as what as been said on bbs mate. the 204 is a cracking caliber. and very flat and fast but the 22/250 with 50 grain heads can be drove at 3800 to 3900 fps with super accuracy. and when it hits its gooing to hit much harder then the 204. i havent had the chance to shoot that many foxes with my 22/250 yet as i havent been out as much. but now i have my reloading stuff 50 grain 52 grain and 55 grain will be tryed through it. at 300 yards the 55 grains will still hit a hox at 799 ftlb ! alot more then 204. i would go back to 22/250 if i where you and now you have the reloading gear y
  18. its not all like that here mate. pat [ warrener] is very lucky to have access to lots of land. and down in devon where he lives the farms are very big. and most are sheep and chicken farms so that = lots of foxes
  19. yes thats a good idea. mine is m18x1 on my mod 70 heavy barrel. the less cut the strong it shall be. trouble is you got to make sure you can get a mod for that size thread. and if you have other rifles a 1/2 inch thread can be a blessing if you use the mod on different rifles
  20. your get him mate. i have been out after work a couple of nights this week. and i have found there about early now. just before dark mite be worth sitting up and waiting for him
  21. for the price of them i would look at a sako mate.
  22. if its standard barrel size i would have 1/2. if its heavy barrel a 5/8 or something like a m16x1 would be good
  23. there pretty cheap so get 50 of each mate and see which ones group best
  24. yes mate dewey rods are the biz. reloading nr oxford is the cheapist place i have found. dont forget a boreguide for your rifle. patches, and for clearner get some kg1 carbon remover and kg12 copper remover off ebay its cracking stuff. also get a proshot nylon brush. and some degreser to.
  25. told you different forces use differnt means. so would say fox as vermin others wont. i think they like to put it down on its own as granting a 308 with vermin on ticket would sound silly. where deer, fox and vermin looks better
