went out for a look about last night' as the one side of the farm hasnt been cut it was a waste of time taking the 22/250 in the big fields. so we stuck to the otherside where thefields are ideal for the hmr and athere isnt anything growing in them or tho the grass was long in places. had a couple of rabbits and a fox at 50 yards. wasnt the best time out but as i havent been out in weeks i really injoyed it
is that true, if so does this apply to the strathclyde region, just wondering as im applying soon,
cheers lads,
sorry mate, not meaning to hi-jack your post!
im sure you thats the case in most of scotland mate
not much chance at grant inless you can prove you really need it. if you lived in scotland you would more then likely get it 1st time with out asking !
if i where you just try and get granted 1st then in so many months time try get it open after you have had it for abit.
like whaqt has been said it mite be they wont let you have it open till after the 5 years when you renew
i would see if anyone round by you can take you out shooting. that way your get to pick up on things. and then when you go for centrefire you will have ore about you
this time of year spinning will be better in early morning or evening. i was out bream fishing on my local river the seven this morning at 4. and by 5.30 there where pike hitting the top of the water everywhere. a spinner would have been perfect
i have a mod 70 winchester mate but the heavy barrel stealth. im more then happy with the rifle. i think there underated rifles the mod 70. there well built come with the h&s stock if you get the stealth. bolt's smooth and trigger easy to adjust. or tho i got the jewell on mine.
as for secondhand have a good look down the barrel or get it borescoped if poss. if not ask to try the rifle if buying private.
dont look past the savage if i where you. if you look them up on the net in the reviews there accuracy is superb out the box.
if it was me tho get the mod 70
mind you !
zeiss conquest 6x20x50. superb optics and about the best you will find sub £1000 scope. light to as its a 25 mm tube.
i have the number 4 crosshair which is a thin line at 12 oclock and thick lines at 9,3 and 6 oclock.
ideal under the lamp for fox. but harder to use if shooting at targets. if you want one to shhot for targets get the zplex recticial otherwise know as the number 20
my mate who fishes matches every week had a week off matches this weekend. but asked me if i wanted to go fishing
on some pool not far from us. he was sure we would get a cracking bag on the feeder so off we went.
got on a peg opp's the ireland he had fished on before. the aevage carp in this pool is around 3lb so good bags can be had. anyway as he set up i looked around and could see not alot of the people where catching. but my friend said we will catch dont worry.
in go's the feeder and on the second cast we where into a fish right away soon as it dropped ! it was steady like this
Bryan3....I think anyone who has been around this site a while is well aware of my view on boresnakes...but if there is any doubt......
Boresnakes were originally developed for a quick clean of SHOTGUNS in the field until the job could be done properly....the marketing people have done a brilliant job on them and for some reason a large part of the world now thinks they are God's gift and all you need for any calibre.......WRONG!!!!
....and take the Mod off before you clean the bore!!
Hi Deker.
I agree with you regarding Boresnakes. I tried to obtain a bore saver,
i have a jewell and its factory set at a 1lb it is very light but safe. it could go lower but im not a target shooter. in my eyes anything under a 1lb is two light for a hunting rifle.
there is a couple of ways to do it. one get a case and seat a bullet in the case very lightly just so its in abit. bolt the rifle then pull the bolt back. some times it gets stuck abit so take care and tap it out with your cleaning rod from muzzle end.
then measure the oal of it .your have your answer then that will be on the lands.
better way thos is to get the proper rod and case from reloading shop. the case screws on the rod you but it in where your bolt would be and your get a more accurate answer to your question then
then when you make some rounds make them to that oal an
