LOL no I don't get many round my way, I have seen 3 roe in 30 years and a handful of muntjac, but you can hear a lot of muntjac at night and see where they go in the day. There are more hares here than 90% of Leicestershire, but obviously these are just to be watched as it is summer and it's illegal, enough rabbits and rats for a good laugh though.

Cheers, I have to admit I have a terrier that doesn't like cover unless she is physically chasing something, but they'll come good with next season, I am farm sitting the last week in July for a week, and there is alsorts knocking around there from rats to deer so should be some good nature watching

Here you go mate, my saluki whippet;
-
To be fair no, she is the same size as yours settled on 20', I'm out tomorrow with her I'll take the camera

Cheers all, I knocked up a flirt pole and that seems to work. I wouldn't have asked but a few times it happened, I came up with another one in the pub garden; rolling a 10' dia rubber ring at speed. I'll try and get a vid of what she is doing.

Cracking fish there, I don't know how you find the rivers with trout like that. That short eared owl is an unusual one too

I wasn't intending on taking her lamping this time of year, but there was a couple of missed ones like I described, so one night I couldn't sleep at 2am so I grabbed the lamp and took her out, she did the same with a few (middle of field) before finally latching onto one. She is VERY soft mouthed and dropped a couple as well. edited to add it was a windy, rainy, cool night.

I work out that way, there are some rabbits about round Telford

Cheers all, as I posted this I felt a bit daft, she is only a pup. It'll come good, it isn't the first time but I guess I watched this and felt frustrated I watched it from the start. The rabbits have kept the firt 10yrs of grass down, she spotted it in the long grass ( I couldn't see it), I called the terriers and to stop them ruining it, she stalked it, got between it and the hedge then it ran under her. She has far too many misses, I need to give her some catches.

Nah, you need a 12 bore, you can do everything you can with a .410 with a 12bore but the .410 cant't do what the 12 bore can. Or as said get a runner

I am working hard to spend a lot of time with the dog (11 months) and show her what I can, she is missing a hell of a lot, the last one tonight, she just didn't seem to be striking, it ran clean under her. She has had one on the lamp, after a lot of missed attempts, a couple of mixy rabbits a small hamster sized rabbit and randomly a mole, so it isn't she is just chasing and not wanting to catch.

We had an old spaniel that worked out food was in tins and would run off with them and crunch them under the caravan, looked like they had been shot with the air rifle. Took the two terriers fishing in Morecambe bay, they got obsessed with eating crabs, to the point they had pure liquid . You'd see it firing out, then a bit of shell would stick, build up the pressure and it would be fired 3ft over the beach, they didn't look happy, same trip the dog ate a baited hook and cost £120 for get it out

My 3 Plummers catch everyday sometimes its only a few but normally around 8 to 10 or so,they smash any cover,no fear of nettles, etc, whatever is in there is either flushed to my lurcher or killed, there is not much gets away, once a terrier knows the game it is deadly,I have always expected my terriers to catch,WM I still need to take you up for a day out, I know my limits, but I have never sent a dog into a hedge/cover thinking it would catch, just with expectation that it will send something out to the gun. But the more I read on here the less I realise I now

It always makes me cringe with the porn innuendo.

Any idea when this is? I'd be up for this. Especially a sea comp.

I am over in Leicestershire. I don't mind ravelling. A rough ciruit everywhere inside the ring; Derby-Nottingham-Peterborough-Bedford-Milton Keynes-Banbury-Worcester-West of Birmingham-Shrewsbury-Telfor-Stoke-Cannock-Derby.

I wonder if the dogs can seem faster if they have a bit of fire in their belly? I know of a 14" jack russell that would stalk and catch rabbit out in the open, but that dog was mental for it, 15 now. I was at a game fair and a bloke had smooth coated beddy whippet, the dog only looked about 17 TTS but it flew in the races, very racy little thing. He said he lamped that with success.

If you don't need them why have you got them. Mine are needed daily and are given the appropriate attention. it was sarcasm.... Wasted on me . Are you's two related? Well I hope not....

I think it is right above,it's not how far, but you do it. I could walk my dogs 3-5 miles on a lead and they'll still do my head in wrestling/play fighting, but 30 minutes in a field with scent/game and some stimulation in it and they are calmer, I think they need stimulating. I have a few walks worked out based on how much I can be bothered. Usually something for a sprint or grub about, I'll sit an watch and let them work a hedgerow sometimes, not that I could catch anything Not that this counts towards fitness I guess.
