  1. no he is silent He looks a cracking dog I might have a bit of an obsession with these whirriers, I saw a regular poster on here mention he crossed lakelands with greyhounds but he reckons they didn't work?
  2. That's is a cracking dog Samurai, does he yap when he is chasing?
  3. Nice one, I like the catch at the end in the mouth of the burry
  4. Having seen a couple of good springers, I like how they work. But for proper bushing I like a bit more independence in how they work. But I don't want a dog working too far out, I do like the idea of the terrier whippet or leggy terriers, but I don't really work large areas of dense cover. I am interested how much of the gundog traits a terrier spaniel keeps.
  5. Sounds a big solid dog, does it have much speed?
  6. Are these the as burner smookers?
  7. I was pretty pissed when I put this up, but I'll keep it going. I have learnt the importance of a good coat, I guess I don't want a dog ranging too far either.
  8. There's not many rabbits where TJones lives....he gets in the motor and goes and finds them.......... :victory: I've a feeling that in the future the places where big bags are possible will be getting less and less.... enjoy them while they last...... Looking forward to the lamping season...not long now.. I've been wondering this, will the boom and bust cycle level out and leave a lower more steady smattering of them about?
  9. Isn't that about a dog that views you as part of the team?
  10. I favour the sort of busher than can flush on top with the same sort of commitment it flushes below, often at speed and vocal, the only mutt that meets my requirements is the Beddy and its Beddy/Fell hybrid, not suitable to some perhaps, possibly because they have yet to encounter it,IF they had they may see the light. I dont know if it is your point, but I wasn't discounting the beddy, I merely meant the beddy whipped is more of a lurcher than a busher, I like your point though
  11. Without an argument what do people favour? The vocal beagle? Small rough coated terrier? Plummers? Terrier whippet? Spaniel? spaniel cross? I like spaniels (after keeping some) and think their cross would be good and I like the the terrier (no so much beddy) cross whippets for dfferent reasons, with all the questions, is it worth putting into a thread why you think and the land worked?
  12. I have just bought and read both of these. Good books
  13. I read that as in something bas had happened/
  14. Having owned a pure whippet and whippet bred lurchers I don't think I'll own another unless it was a whippet x grey. They aren't big enough or fast enough for the ground local to me. ive a saluki lurcher,x whippet 27tts.fast as and can stay on you can get them, But you have to be honest by making something half whippet you aren't trying to make a 27" lurcher
  15. I have kind of come to the conclusion that the first cross should be the grey, then if you want a smaller version put it back to a whippet for the most usefull lurchers. Each to there own and I'm not knocking it, but I would think a first cross whippet and anything other than a sighthound wouldn't be quick enough?
  16. I do like your pictures, this is how I want to spend my spare time for the next few years with the mutt and ferret
  17. Cheers, she is just starting to come into herself, a bit more muscle, but I haven't done anything other than regular walks

    Pigeon

Mine aren't keen on it either tbh, in fact the terrier, the fussy wee f****r won't eat it raw..... Exactly, they have to be hungry and their can't be anything else to chose from, but it does go down.
  19. Joined both mate, we do need to make sure we have clear aims if we do this, I was young last time and didn't really understand, I didn't really view it as anything enforcable and worth bothering with.
  20. Count me in, they can sack me if needed in work

    Pigeon

I feed mine pigeon, I don't know if it is much cop, but it definitely isn't her favourite
  22. make time mate, be nice to see it go tk somebody that will let folk follow how it goes, I think you'll end up with a decent lurcher with a nit of effort and a dash of Luck, just like all pups I would love to, I am lucky with my lifestyle but not with work, I am back on 10-13hr days and I have a dog to bring on as it is, I do like the saluki/bull/greys even with a touch of whippet. These dogs have a good chance of making decent hounds, even if Snapeer has been a bit of prick on a lot of threads
  23. I am in Wigan ATM I am quite tempted but I know I haven't got the time
