Anyone Else Bringing On Pup For Next Season?
pesky1972 replied to Sweeney's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Some fine & healthy looking pups so far... happy days ahead. A couple of mine...5½ months, about 21” -
Thanks Derek. Nothing fancy, just a 'lurcher type' to a collie/grey half cross.

Very true but the kill is what gives it the thrill!!! The chase is only going to end one of two ways escape or death simple as that and yes you are right the chase is a buzz but the kill is not just a byproduct, it's the required result! I personally don't like seeing loads of dogs on because the result is never as clean as it should be imo For me the catch is the thrill, rather than the kill. I know I’m probably splitting hairs, because once caught the kill is a fait accompli, but the point I’m making is that hunting is about much, much more than satisfying a need for ‘killing shit’.

A few more in B & W...

Out at first light but it was a filthy morning, blowing hard with low cloud & drizzle. Not much about so took a few photos of my 5 month old pup.

I for one don't 'like to kill shit'. I do it as quickly and efficiently as possible and without compunction as it's part and parcel of the sport I love, but it's not the reason I run dogs...it's not to satisfy some blood lust. If killing was the main objective, there are easier, cheaper, and less frustrating ways to do it than using dogs. I think that when we talk about sport it's because there is a 'competetive' element to running dogs against quarry which has some chance of escape. Your dog needs to run well to succeed, and that's where both the competition and satisfaction of 'winning'

Fcuking latinos...no sense of fair play at all. Look what they've done to 'the beautiful game' with all their play acting and rolling about. Killing is part of what we do but not the objective, not for me at least. Seeing your dog well matched and putting in a great run and catching is satisfaction, but missing a few makes it much sweeter. It shouldn't be that easy. Slipping eight dogs, some when the chase is well on, is no test for a dog and as good as no escape for the quarry. Useless Argie bastads!!

100% lab, I would have shot it or hit it ,or it it with what ever I could grab with my hands, the other dogs didn't do feck all did they ,? prob scared .Glad ive got a big dog like Buck,as bigger dog might bit more of chance than a smaller dog, but them wolves powerful feckers for any type dog One of the other dogs looks to be tethered and the other one looks young. Three loose & game adult dogs might have faired a bit better but who knows....wolves are big powerful fcukers. They're hunted in Canada so you'd expect they'd be fearful or at least keep their distance from towns. This

Last Couple Of Days Oooot And Abooooot..
pesky1972 replied to FUJI's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Nice photos, nice dogs and a really nice bit of the country you've got there. You can feel the bite in the wind in some of those pics. -
Growing into a very nice looking dog.

Ah well, I suppose the bookies seldom get it wrong. Burns well outclassed in the end but stuck with it and gave it his all. Always knew he was a bit limited and he's done really well to get to where he has. Can't ask any more. Still some great fights for him at a domestic level, can't see him winning another world belt. Atmosphere was fantastic, pity it'll be the last we see of that for a while in Scotland. Roll on May 31st & Froch v Groves II

Most of the bookies have Burns about 2/1, even though he's going into his 10th world title fight and he's fighting in Glasgow. Anyone think he's got a chance? I've backed Burns to win on points. It's a sell out but my mate's confident he can still pull a couple of tickets out the hat for us. Hope so, it's a cracking card. 'mon the Rickster!!!!

No way these are greyhounds. Crocodile/Hyena crosses maybe? Seriously though, I know that coppers are some of the worst lying toerags around but this is a bit beyond the pale. PC Ian Laing is attributed to have made a number of statements in this article, I can't see that there's much substance to any of them and I’m afraid that all this article seeks to do is demonise anyone with a greyhound (or animal that looks like one). Some of my issues with the article; “It’s difficult to say numbers because sometimes the entire carcase is taken and there is no trace a crime has taken place,” M

Aye mate, worth a try. You need to stick to that though, I know folk that's been smoking them for 2 years now and don't like they are going to give up any time soon lol people do not realise theres 2 distinct things to giving up smoking 1 is the nicotine addiction and 2 is the habit, i still smoke the ecig at the back door I'm very much in the 'if you want to stop bad enough, you'll stop' camp. e-cigs for me might be lesser evil than tobacco but as far as stopping smoking goes, they don't address either the addiction or the habit. If you really want to stop smoking these should

I feed mine veg with every meal. Probably 20-30% veg (mix of carrots, peas, leftover potatoes, brown rice, and whatever's knock-down at Tesco). I'd read that dogs don't have the enzymes in the gut to break down the cell structure in veg like we do so that you've got to boil it up and at least get it softened up for them first, otherwise it just passes straight through barely digested. I boil it long enough that I can smash it all down and mix it through minced chicken/tripe/beef, or whatever I'm feeding. I do mine in big batches, maybe every couple of weeks & freeze them. Very rarely feed

I Keep Losing My Lodger.................

This time of year with all the dead leaves about mine can disappear before your very eyes... -
Looks like a brutal & pretty barbaric act was probably carried out - but..., fcuk all to do with hunting or genuine lurcher men as far as I can see. I think the report intends to infer..., based on the account of the 'unnamed' Barrow grandmother & the lazy journo that failed to ask her if she actually knew if the dog was indeed a 'hunting dog' or just had the appearance of one..., that the dog had been injured whilst hunting, and rather than do right by the dog the owner had cut the dogs throat and left it where it lay. That's one plausible scenario, but I could give countless others

In the garden training the pup and getting a few pics of her when we had an unexpected visitor. Me and the pup watched her from maybe 15 metres for about 5 minutes before she flew off. She knew full well we were there.

Best Spots For Fishing (North East Scotland)
pesky1972 replied to Cheryl Vickers's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Leven isn't the place it once was (and fairly bleak at this time of year) and I think the Fitty has been closed for a few years now. -
