  7. Interesting read looking for shooting info on moorhen, from what I've read they can be a pest to some in their habits, apparently they are territorial and chase away other birds and smash eggs they find, also they stab at ducklings and injure or kill them,as well as eating feed intended for other birds,so it sounds as if they can be quite a pest to some people, got mixed reviews as to what they taste like, some of that info was from thl, look up coot/moorhen,there's a thread on it but it's old,1998,and clearly you need up to date info.
  8. This is from shooting UK,2016 game seasons; Coot/Moorhen England and Wales: Sep 1 Jan 31 Scotland: Sep 1 Jan 31 Northern Ireland: Protected Written underneath a picture of a coot, now I don't go after these but this to me just makes it look as though it has a season, not that it's protected or under a permit or anything I'll Google some more why we wait for a more informed answer... (Edit) this is from basc; Coot/Moorhen Sep 1 Jan 31 Sep 1 Jan 31 Protected Protected (Protected in northern Ireland and isle of man)
  9. Nice pics, something about scenery like that which can only be described as "wow"... Anyone notice the snow covered dog in one of them??
  10. I'm looking forward to see how he gets on with the 95! That 110 looks the part though, not traditional as rifles go but I like the sound of how it's made, would like to see one and handle it for myself...
  11. Mark they're nice enough to just look at,they're an absolute joy to use
  12. At that point, I reach for the .243 and put his lights out Must be a nice plan b Some of us still have to crawl through all sorts to get within our little bit of range
  13. See your point simon, from a nostalgic point of view,i loved my vulcan and lightning, would have both back in a heartbeat and did as good with those as any since, really is a shame how times have changed and maybe a good old british spring gun revolution could be roused??
  14. Nice to see them working, all the better when they work well
  15. Suppose it shows what having confidence in your kit can help you achieve, take nothing away from you that is some shot but you clearly enjoy using this set up and I think a massive part of this sport is in your head, get that right and you are most of the way there...
  16. Simon not to nit pick but air arms are still a reputable company supplying quality products? the rest of what you say, especially the mirage/huntsman part is very interesting...
  17. daughters boyfriend mate and they just had a baby so I couldn't complain when he said he would give it a miss other fella I go out with has made too many excuses of late and wont get another invite - ive shot for many many years on my own so im just as happy to go it alone if I have to ps if I have some one with me I can work the dogs a lot better and let the other person shoot as I do like to see novices learning their skills and I can put them right with certain shots Ah I see, like the sound of it,seeing your dogs work well must be so rewarding in itself,as is helping someone learn something
  18. good effort at stalking them, horrible when something stops you being able to stalk to where you want to get to,nice bit of meat there though...
  19. you seem to go with the son in law a bit recently and say no one would go in the rain,do you prefer going with someone?

  22. Tasting good at the end is all I care about in honesty,I would just like an idea of approximate abv,it doesn't matter too much if I can't work it out,I'll drink it regardless!
  23. Nice session and those birds don't mind what a gun looks like! Least you learned a bit about the hides build and set up,could of bagged more if you had a sunroof!
