My old man is 74 & don't seem much different to 20 years ago.....apart from his short term memory loss, it's funny hearing him talk about 'old folk'......
  4. 3 pages about a fox in a garden lol.......call the fire brigade!
  5. What a result! 3 rabbits in the bag is good enough for any hawk......they get better all the time mate & comparing to other hawks is unimportant, there is no gauge really, as long as you are serving that bird & providing regular kills....the numbers are immaterial. The great thing about falconry is that you may be in the game for 5 mins, but if you've got the quarry & land, getting the weight & handling right, you can be doing just as well as someone who's been doing it for 20 years!
  6. Masterbating on hold for a while?
  7. Cheers that's what I thought......it was the meeting him bit that threw me...:-)

My retired neighbour told me he was obviously richer than me.......it did make me chuckle, no ones actually told me that before....
  9. Let me get this straight......is it a man or a dog called pick axe? ........I'm still none the wiser....
  10. I didn't see the moorhen as too lowly to hunt, In fact I enjoyed many a hunt with my Harris on them....up & down tree lined ditches, them seemingly disappear into thin air! But I ended up with a wet, muddy hawk on many occasion, sometimes cutting short a mornings sport, plus my male was mad for them & like your female on rats would ignore everything else around when there was a hint of one around. So when I got the goshawk, I decided they just weren't gonna be on the menu if I could help it :-) The main thing is, if you enjoy what you're doing, stick at it!
  11. Well said pointer........now you've said all that, I'm really wondering why I never caught a rat with the Harris hawk? as I frequented all those places you mentioned, apart from the moors.... Interesting point of view though, for me it would of been a nuisance & something to avoid, maybe subconsciously that's why we didn't catch any? I also came to view moorhens as a nuisance quarry, so much so when I flew the gos I held on to his jeeses whenever he saw one, after a while he didn't even bait at them anymore.....so maybe in some ways they tune in to what you want as well.... Or am I talki
  12. ..that is a healthy population of rats you've got up there pointer,......I think the only rats my hawks ever saw were white & came in packs of 10! Lol
  13. Very nice mate......are the squares part of the required criteria?
  14. Always makes me laugh when you see fractions stated clearly...3/4 X x 1/4 X....oh & a bit of saluki....wtf lol.... I think the only reason people keep going to Hancock, is piece of mind....
  15. Could be a good shout longers......widely regarded as a sound education for beginning in falconry, if I could go back, I may of gone that route.....
  16. I'm sure you will, as you know....you only get back what you put in!.......exiting times ahead I reckon..;-)
  17. Never found it particularly with farmers.......coke fiends yes....
  18. Ah I see....although I'm an accipiter fan, I think the red tail is the most impressive hawk that's readily available to us......there's something primeval about them... Good luck with him, sounds like he'll make a robust flying weight :-)
  19. What weight did he end last season at?
  20. A good friend went there in the early 90's & got his first lurcher.......he was pretty shocked at the set-up, but took his pup.....& what a beast that dog turned out to be, would not of been out of place on the pre-ban fox thread. Easily capable of multiples in a night, always single handed, a real intense dog in every way......busted his leg in the end whilst catching a fox, a limp leg while still relishing his prey, cut a pitiful sight......but showed the true measure of the dog, he was never forgotten. I had a second hand Hancock bitch as well & she was a joy to own.......she w
  21. I find a proper decent digging dog doesn't get worked on rabbits, for it's not nice digging to a fecking bunny , any that I've seen have all been 100% earth dogs never get near rabbits, Yeh absolutely.....my old man was always saying to me 'keep them off rabbits' lol & digging to a rabbit is soul destroying, especially in company lol But there will be plenty who get away with both I'm sure...
  22. Are you attacking ratters? Lol For me, they've only ever been earth dogs. I've got a young unentered bitch here now.....first terrier for years, but if she doesn't want to work below, I've got no other use for her what so ever, a shame, but true.... That don't mean I can't see the value of a good all rounder though, for those who have got that need...
  23. Me too... This really has been an education for me, my first computer was an iPhone! I haven't heard of any of these other sites & only recently twigged what 'bump' meant lol.....But in last year I have made a couple of good friends from this site & as a direct result should be doing a fair bit of digging in Europe this season....which Im very grateful for :-)......maybe life does begin at 40! you sound like my brother he never used to know what lol ment so he put it at the end of whatever he writ he said he saw a lot of people put lol at the end so he just copied them I've got a be
  24. It's a potential viscous circle really, on one hand you're right, business such as pubs shouldn't be shafted & should be encouraged, creating jobs etc But hiking up taxes on you're average supermarket beer or bottle of wine.....screws half the country that just can't bare going down the pub anymore, because of the cnuts you find there.....& when you've got kids, a beer in front of the telly will suffice....
  25. I get you're point max & you're bang on about coke.......but how cheap is too cheap? I've heard this argument before obviously, but never really got the numbers & how it will help...... Ok.. My example....when I first started hitting the pubs properly I was 17.....23 years ago.....we used to meet round my mates house first, early evening, drink a load of Kronenberg, do some speed.....hit the pub & cause fcuking mayhem lol The price of the booze never came in to it really.......so how expensive do you have to make it? to stop that behaviour..... The high streets have been offeri
