    Thought I`d get this posted up. Some of the lads are aware and some are not but I picked up this beauty a few weeks back, - the mighty MK1 HW 80, .22 cal, 1983 model. Very lucky find as she's untouched, spotless and laser accurate running at 626.64 ft/sec, 11.7 ft/lbs with the Falcon Accuracy Plus.

    You could have blown me over with a feather tonight lads. My Dragon said, you might be right and build some raised beds and grow your own again but in the garden this time, rather than a plot again, as she wants to try and avoid the supermarkets for now. I am tempted as the home grown fruit and veg` is in a different world for flavour, coupled with the wild meat we often cook.

    Well lads with all the strong winds/ gales there is plenty of dead wood about and I always put it to good use this time of year. So here's the base build in place, notice I always try to enter from the back . I`ll simply add more deadwood etc, etc. Grass , twigs, anything that looks right and natural.     Hi buddy, Si will be in bed, he's a bricky, say no more. Go to your main THL main page. You'll see an envelope/ message button ( top right ) - click on it. Messages appear, - click on any one you don't want and it will then get highlighted . Go to the top of the page,- click on options. Click on delete message. Press ok. Start again.     The trajectory of .25 caliber at sub 12 ft/lbs level always reminds me of throwing a brick underarm but still consistent when calibrated. For me the lovely flat trajectory of the.177 caliber by a country mile at sub 12 ft/lbs level.

    Well prior to attempting a very rough zero in these strong winds I gave the barrel a thorough good cleaning,- she was ready for it to. With a spotless barrel I tried to get some sort of zero into her but the winds really did prevent this from happening - just far too strong. Anyway lads, here's her 1983 looks, she's only just under 12 ft/lbs, ( oh i`ll watch her ) she has a lovely shot cycle and had she been on an indoor range today I`m convinced she would have really performed well.     I`ll flip the coin the other way if you will allow. Yes, I too have owned many of the rifles already mentioned and spent the money we have all spent but just look at the sheer freedom of life we are all still living because of shooting.     Hi Simon, just ready and waiting to calibrate her mate but for this weather. Thank you for the nudge on pellet choice , that's a great short cut I hope, I will definitely take your advice and try them out. I have to say mate , the difference between the FWB Sport trigger and the HW80`s record trigger is a universe apart, the 80`s trigger is just superb in comparison. She is legal, "just", so I`ll watch her hard. They are built like tanks Simon, way stronger than todays guns, so glad I waited and looked hard

    Well she's home now lads. She put in some close chronograph readings of just under 12 ft/lbs so I`ll keep an eye on her. My the HW factory built their guns well in the early eighties, 1983 in this case and built like a tank. She really has not been used at all, absolutely spotless, no marks, scratches wear marks, nothing, just like new. Put a good Hawk Panorama 4-12x40 ao,ir on her with half mill dot ret`.     Taking nothing away from those who shoot F.A.C. air, my "personal choice" is to take up the challenge of learning field craft to get within air rifle ranges, that's the bit that " floats my boat" and gives me the rush. Building the shot with a spring rifle gives me a far greater sense of achievement than shooting with any pcp as I have long felt as though I am somehow cheating with a pcp of any power as they bridge all that's required of a decent shooter.     The Webley Axsor Simon ? Great gun buddy, very much like the Webley FX 2000 you already own but no gauge. My mate had one down the range, I had very limited use but I did like it very much. The saying " Old but pure gold" was said about the Axsor and her accuracy was absolutely spot on.     I`ve been looking out for a while now and found a MK1 HW80 in pristine, untouched condition, I had to have her lads . She's on her way to my RFD from another RFD, so a few photos will be next. She's in .22 flavour , 1983 and shooting around the 11.2 ft/lbs mark, so perfect. No marks, no scuffs, all original, inc` open field sights. Just love the classic hunting. Anyone able to put up a photo of one of these rifles please ?

    Well I,ve knocked up a steel fronted feeder as the backstop has to be steel, I soon found that the .177 Fields and Express turn them into colanders in no time. Screwed this feeder to a dead tree and laced it with aniseed oil, all it needs now is some B&M Bargains peanuts Here's the feeder Here's the location, I will build a natural hide to and around the tree with dead wood , camo netting etc atb.     Aye up Rez, I always try to learn from others, be it You Tube or any individual Si Pitterway`s and Davy`s comments caught my attention about the damage these pellets cause in the hunting field and so I asked if anyone hunts with them ? I can't see myself changing from the JSB Exact Express or AA Fields as they deliver big time - just me being inquisitive buddy . atb. Mark.

    Hmmmm , I certainly agree with all that's been said, maybe I`m listening to Si Pitterway and Davy too much in that video ? Si Pitterway states that he's never seen a pellet do so much damage as a JSB Heavy at sub 12 level, .177 cal, that's why I asked the question is anyone using these pellets for hunting and your thoughts please. Could anyone be kind enough to put the video link up please ? Thank you.
