  1. By the time you have pulled the trigger the game is over noisy discharge or not. If you can shoot, the impacting pellet will send all and sundry into hiding anyway most times.
  2. I`m glad to see you out and about mate, even if it is with a brickie from Yorkshire . My thoughts and very best wishes to you all buddy. Si told me that " he " shot all those rabbits Our thought are with you Buddy, Mark, Kathleen & lads. x
  3. Whatever stops you rummaging about and damaging the pellet is the answer to better accuracy. Even an open tin of pellets promotes rummaging and damage. This costs next to nothing. Pre select perfect pellets, put them into a biro pen minus the ink tube, = quality pellets 24/7. Carry these pellet holders in anything you like, bags, pockets etc, etc, never any damaged pellets.
  4. I would go Sports Match or BKL mounts and have never noticed a one piece mount better a set of mounts with the Sports Match or BKL . Sports Match on the HW97K wearing the Hawke Endurance scope, checked weekly and very rarely needs tweaking in the last three years.
  5. Hi Gaoler, I bought my HW97K .177 from a member called Piano Man, or Simon and he advised that the rifle has been highly polished internally and a Sandwell Field Sports kit installed. I`m no gunsmith buddy but you sure have bought a quality rifle there , I would never let go of mine. I was also nudged by Mitch, Villaman ( Villa`s only supporter ) to use the lightweight pellets JSB Exact Express and Falcon Accuracy Plus in my rifles, the rest is history. I would suggest you get her polished and lubed correctly, a
  6. Aye up lads, Took ourselves out for a walk around one of my permissions today attempting a little stalking for a change. It was great fun, I must admit, taking a shot at a great big carrion crow that did`nt see me at all. I sat Kaiser with the showing of the palm of my hand, pointed down and he then lay down, he won't move at all now until I command him, using the trees, hedgerows I got to 33 yards lazed, so completely free standing I built my shot, crystal clear optics from the old Tasco, cross hairs ( 30-30) on his head and gently sq
  7. The best pellet I`ve used was the Hobby 11.9 g flat heads, in .22 cal` for rat work. After 30 yards though the accuracy starts to slip but under 30 yards they are deadly. Nice flat trajectory, hit very hard with the flat heads and nicely accurate to the 30 yard mark. Each to their own opinion but RWS Hobby for me.
  8. Nice shooting Jamie and a great post. Compliments buddy
  9. Hi Sniper, The closest I`ve ever got to lubing is a light spraying of the empty loading side of a HW 100 magazine at arms length every 5th or 6th re load- tightens those groups up really well. I`ve decided not to fix something that is`nt broke and stay with the AA Fields 4.52, 8.4g in the KT and also stay with the JSB Exact Express in all of my .177 rifles. As said, if you hit the spot, light V heavy does not even come into it
  10. Have not put my cross hairs on a rabbit for a while now as I,m trying to help build their population a little on my permissions.
  11. Yep, we always fry the squirrels. Jackets off and straight in the frying pan, American style, delicious ! By the way, excellent shooting Chris
  12. Compliments Rez, nice shooting buddy When did you get the Fenman - missed that one ? ( nice rifles )
  13. `bout time you shot summert John Nice shooting buddy and with a proper rifle too.
  14. Nice write up, nice shooting lads
  15. All my HW rifles love the Express including my HW100KT. The ft/lbs are all 11- 11.5. Yep it was Mitch ( Villaman ) that put me onto these and I`ve never looked back to be honest. They hit hard and laser accurate, all heart/ lung. Good luck with the HW99 Phil, nice to see you shooting with a proper gun buddy.
  16. I`ve still to try out the JSB Heavies with everywhere shut down until now. Got to admit though, it would take a team of horses to pull me away from the JSB Exact Express now. Phil, promise me you'll try the Express, 4.52, 7.87g through your HW 99 before you decide, I can send some over to you if needed buddy ? Here's my HW 97 on the range with them. All my .177 rifles, bar the HW 100 KT, are hunting with the Express. Check the 12 shot group against the 97`s stock screw, deadly accurate.
  17. Yes Phil, that's the brand.
  18. Hi Gaoler, I can only speak of my own 100`s and both have just the one o ring on their mags. I have never used any oils with silicon in it as many years ago a gunsmith told me not to because it clogs up in the gun ? I`ve used the Brunox, silicon free, turbo spray for years. No silicon. no PTFE, no graphite contact spray. A tip for you buddy, spray the loading side of your HW 100 mag` every 5th/ 6th reload and your accuracy improves considerably, hold the mag` at arms length and give it the lightest of sprays each time.
  19. Just read this post Jimmy, I`ve been doing everything other than shooting with this lockdown. That stock looks stunning Jim. You're making one mighty handsome Raider there matey. Best of luck with her Jimmy, Mark.
  20. Here you go buddy. My HW 100 KS .22 takes no prisoners with the Falcon Acc` Plus, deadly accurate and powerful. Her numbers are,- 13.43 g, 5.52, 629 ft/sec`, 11.8 ft/lbs. My HW 100 KT .177`s numbers with AA Fields are, 4.52, 8.4g, 794 ft/sec`, 11.79 ft/lbs. Again the HW 100 KT .177 using JSB Exact Express 7.87g, 4.52, 815.6 ft/sec`, 11.63 ft/lbs. Both 14 shot groups, shot outside to a 38 yd zero. Have fun Gaoler atb Mark. ( apologies over the pigeon head lads )
  21. Let it react Jimmy, that stock is a beauty mate, do your magic as I`m sure you will atb. Mark.
  22. Very good question Phil. When I`m in a hide decoying I always stay pellet chambered gun not cocked as you normally see your quarry flighting in. Rabbits, squirrels, corvids from a hide, cocked and ready to fire. On the quieter evenings I much prefer the spring rifles without a bear trap so I can uncock the rifle as I too feel better after a long wait, I`m fully aware that you can sit there loaded and ready for ages at a time with no ill effect on the spring. So Phil, on the slow waits, older spring rifles with no bear tra
