  1. Well, after the session with the springers and the warm sun still out I thought I`d give the HW 100 KT a long awaited outing. I set up with full leaf suit on and simply waited set back in the hedgerow overlooking a nice banking. Here's the 38 yd zero in the 100 Here's the banking and views I had. Got a presentation after a good hours wait and took it. Here's Kaiser on the retrieve to hand.
  2. Gave this lovely old lady another tweak up whilst putting a nice zero into the 80. Those red bullseyes are very close to a 5p coin and all shot on a 38 yard zero. Very happy to take her hunting as normal, she's taken a lot of vermin. Here's the early MK2 77 with the MK1 80.
  3. Yeah, I know buddy and what a spring rifle that would be. Simon, ( Pianoman) has an F.A.C. classic HW eighty in .22 and swears by it, he's already mentioned this to me.
  4. Finally, just finally got a lull in the winds so out came the newly acquired HW eighty MK1 .22 CAL. A 38 yd range was set up and I tweaked her zero a tad from right to left, - two singular clicks got her singing, she was hitting everything after the first three shots. Top spinner is 25 mm, 2nd is 12mm, 3rd is 7mm, the Falcon Acc` Plus were hammering those spinners big time. All the red bulls are under 12mm, centre red bull looks to be 12mm. Turning into a lovely rifle lad
  5. Hi Phil, No rocket science mate, a bit of both really, a base frame of branches, grass, netting then grass and netting again and just "build how you feel" until the blend/ look is right with the surroundings. One of the most important parts of any hide is that its impossible to see through it in any way, as the slightest movement will be detected at sub 12 ranges but at 85 meters/ 90 yards " ish" the quarry would be far less worried about you than at 28 yards. That's the bit that really floats my boat about sub 12ft/lb air rifle hunting, range re
  6. Thought I`d get this posted up. Some of the lads are aware and some are not but I picked up this beauty a few weeks back, - the mighty MK1 HW 80, .22 cal, 1983 model. Very lucky find as she's untouched, spotless and laser accurate running at 626.64 ft/sec, 11.7 ft/lbs with the Falcon Accuracy Plus.
  7. You could have blown me over with a feather tonight lads. My Dragon said, you might be right and build some raised beds and grow your own again but in the garden this time, rather than a plot again, as she wants to try and avoid the supermarkets for now. I am tempted as the home grown fruit and veg` is in a different world for flavour, coupled with the wild meat we often cook.
  8. Good to see you around again Jimmy A fine friend to you is Si, typical bricklayers boots, - only " half worked " by the colour of them.
  9. Well lads with all the strong winds/ gales there is plenty of dead wood about and I always put it to good use this time of year. So here's the base build in place, notice I always try to enter from the back . I`ll simply add more deadwood etc, etc. Grass , twigs, anything that looks right and natural. This hide is sighted some 28 yards lased, from a good sitty tree by a growing crop. No long range shooting required just a little fieldcraft. If the pigeons start to damage the cr
  10. Hi buddy, Si will be in bed, he's a bricky, say no more. Go to your main THL main page. You'll see an envelope/ message button ( top right ) - click on it. Messages appear, - click on any one you don't want and it will then get highlighted . Go to the top of the page,- click on options. Click on delete message. Press ok. Start again. Hope that helps any.
  11. The trajectory of .25 caliber at sub 12 ft/lbs level always reminds me of throwing a brick underarm but still consistent when calibrated. For me the lovely flat trajectory of the.177 caliber by a country mile at sub 12 ft/lbs level.
  12. Well prior to attempting a very rough zero in these strong winds I gave the barrel a thorough good cleaning,- she was ready for it to. With a spotless barrel I tried to get some sort of zero into her but the winds really did prevent this from happening - just far too strong. Anyway lads, here's her 1983 looks, she's only just under 12 ft/lbs, ( oh i`ll watch her ) she has a lovely shot cycle and had she been on an indoor range today I`m convinced she would have really performed well. A nice still day needed next to close down that zero
  13. Naar, borrow a proper gun off me Jimmy . You can do some proper shooting then, instead of all these puffers. Twat X Glad to see you are staying with the forum buddy
  14. I`ll flip the coin the other way if you will allow. Yes, I too have owned many of the rifles already mentioned and spent the money we have all spent but just look at the sheer freedom of life we are all still living because of shooting. All that stress, anxiety and sh%t that modern living brings, my hunting life wraps me into natures arms and takes me away from all that, - seriously. The thousands of hours I put into training my gun dog Kaiser, I just love it. So after putting my poetry book down, which
  15. Hi Simon, just ready and waiting to calibrate her mate but for this weather. Thank you for the nudge on pellet choice , that's a great short cut I hope, I will definitely take your advice and try them out. I have to say mate , the difference between the FWB Sport trigger and the HW80`s record trigger is a universe apart, the 80`s trigger is just superb in comparison. She is legal, "just", so I`ll watch her hard. They are built like tanks Simon, way stronger than todays guns, so glad I waited and looked hard
  16. Well she's home now lads. She put in some close chronograph readings of just under 12 ft/lbs so I`ll keep an eye on her. My the HW factory built their guns well in the early eighties, 1983 in this case and built like a tank. She really has not been used at all, absolutely spotless, no marks, scratches wear marks, nothing, just like new. Put a good Hawk Panorama 4-12x40 ao,ir on her with half mill dot ret`. She is ready to zero/ calibrate now after being levelled and set to a plumb line, all old schoo
  17. Taking nothing away from those who shoot F.A.C. air, my "personal choice" is to take up the challenge of learning field craft to get within air rifle ranges, that's the bit that " floats my boat" and gives me the rush. Building the shot with a spring rifle gives me a far greater sense of achievement than shooting with any pcp as I have long felt as though I am somehow cheating with a pcp of any power as they bridge all that's required of a decent shooter. As I write, I am waiting for a MK1 HW eighty .22 cal` to be delive
  18. The Webley Axsor Simon ? Great gun buddy, very much like the Webley FX 2000 you already own but no gauge. My mate had one down the range, I had very limited use but I did like it very much. The saying " Old but pure gold" was said about the Axsor and her accuracy was absolutely spot on. A couple of years back I carried a huge itch for the RWS Excalibre and was an inch away from buying Jeff`s ( JJM) Excalibre but for my van breaking down I`d have had Jeff`s Excalibre , I think ( not sure) that Viz, Sean boug
  19. I`ve been looking out for a while now and found a MK1 HW80 in pristine, untouched condition, I had to have her lads . She's on her way to my RFD from another RFD, so a few photos will be next. She's in .22 flavour , 1983 and shooting around the 11.2 ft/lbs mark, so perfect. No marks, no scuffs, all original, inc` open field sights. Just love the classic hunting. Anyone able to put up a photo of one of these rifles please ?
  20. Yes, slow for work this side of the country as well Jimmy. Nice to hear your daughter is doing good mate . Jim, crack on with the Ultra, as and when you feel like it and show your face on here as normal. I take it you are still coming down here for your shooting lessons, as normal though ? atb, Mark.
  21. A proper pcp there John Good looking ground/ land for rabbits. Good luck buddy.
  22. Glad to hear you are good Simon and hope to hear from you regularly on here again my friend . When your foot is fully recovered please give that big fella and the old chap a kick for me XX Ditto to all said by the way. Simon, your HW97K, .177 that I bought from you sends her love XX Thank you mate she is every inch the rifle you said she is, just love her and the Endurance L4 scope. atb mate, Mark.
