Trigger stick / rifle rest
mark williams replied to big napper's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
PCP or spring rifle the Primos sticks are a must for static or walking. The double yokel really holds your aim well and is a " massive" help toward extremely accurate shooting. -
Trigger stick / rifle rest
mark williams replied to big napper's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Go for the Primos sticks John, Jim Shokey generation 2 is what I`m using for all my static hunting for years now but a generation 3 is available of which I,ve not yet used. Swap the single Y yokel for a double yokel rifle rest, a devastating bit of kit to own mate . -
Top shooting as per John, compliments, . Using a " proper gun too ' atb Mark.

Sandwell field sports tuned rifle wanted
mark williams replied to Pocketts10's topic in Gun's and Rifle's
I picked up a mk2 HW77 .177 cal rifle from these forums that carries a stage 2 SFS tune. It is way better than a standard 77 in my humble opinion and I would`nt dream of selling her. There is`nt a 20 week wait for a SFS tuned rifle for nothing, is there ? -
I love this time of year for sub 12 air rifle hunting. A little vigilance and that little bit more movement can be seen in the woodland canopy and undergrowth. All that training, practice on target work pays you back. The headshot is the usual presentation this time of year. The HW 100 KT .177 is in use this time out. atb. Mark.

What's up with yer Rezmond, it did you a world of good when you came down to my house for yer shooting lessons, - did it not ? I got you hitting the barn door in under a week,- true ? By the 6th week of your school holiday you were managing a fence panel and now I hear all your shots are staying within your outside bog door. Do, do your breathing exercises though Rez, remember ? Good luck x

Not sure if you have tried this C3PO but with no grip whatsoever on the fore end of the gun and rather a rest or flat palm allowing the gun to cycle the same way time and time again really tightens my rifles groups up. I concentrate on the building of the shot, breathing and follow through on top of the recurring shot cycle, ( hope I'm not asking anyone to suck eggs here ) but what a difference to my grouping. Sorry about my drawing atb. Mark.

I have this rifle in .177 cal` carrying a Mamba scope. She's one of the best rifles I have ever owned for both power and accuracy. Good luck C3PO, you've made a fine choice atb. Mark

This large buzzard was circling my decoy pattern and actually struck one of the decoys. It jumped back, startled it was plastic and simply flew away.

Long range work again but with a HW 97K .177.
mark williams replied to mark williams's topic in Airgun Hunting
Absolutely Jimmy and " hats off to you mate" - the shots I`m managing to pull off with the 97`s can be quite a learning curve. Put the practice in lads, 97`s take a hell of a lot of bettering , I must say ! Easily on par with PCP`s if not better. -
Had another session on the rabbits as last week but with my 97 rather than the HW 100. Yes the spring rifles test you much more than a puffer but what a feeling taking another 53 yard rabbit with such accuracy that the 97 offers. Here's the lane I was shooting over. Here's Kaiser`s retrieve. The 97`s shot placement at a lazed 53 yards. Instant despatch. atb Mark.

German Short Haired Pointers are incredible gun dogs, mine retrieves, points, hunts and will easily sit at my side all day in a hide He works to both shotgun and air rifle.

Long range rabbits with the HW 100 KT .177
mark williams replied to mark williams's topic in Airgun Hunting
I`m not sure if you remember Mitch but I did try them. They proved to be extremely accurate indeed. I`ll no doubt move over onto them when the AA Fields run out. If anyone is interested here are those results. AA Fields, 4.52, 8.4 g, 794 ft/sec, 11.79 ft/lbs - superb accuracy/ hard hitting. JSB Exact Express 4.52, 7.87g, 815.6 ft/sec , 11.63 ft/lbs - also extremely accurate and hard hitting. One click right and she's spot on for 38 yards. -
Little Johnny in his maths lesson and the teacher says " Johnny I can see you have 5 sweets in your hand , if I was to ask you to give young Abdul one of your sweets, how many would you have left " ? Johnny replied, " F%cking five miss" !

Back to the local nursery tonight on rabbits. When the owner sees a rabbit, he's seen a thousand . I opted for the HW 100 KT .177 off Primos shooting sticks, saw that the ground where he's seen these rabbits is dead flat I went prone off the bi pod. Using AA Fields 8.4g, 4.52 and a half mill dot of hold over, both headshot at 51 and 53 yards. atb. Mark.

Nice shooting BN. In the first picture, third rabbit down, is that a heart/ lung shot you have used ? The reason I ask is that a few shooting mates swear by the heart/ lung shots, especially with the younger rabbits. Again, great shooting mate. atb. Mark.

The accuracy of the .177 HW 97 is top drawer. I was waiting for a rabbit or two but saw this squirrel at a lased 38 yds high up in an old oak tree. Out like a light. About 40 minutes passed and a rabbit slowly raised its head in a weeded area 43 yards to my left. The rifle was already cocked, just the tiniest of " snicks" and the safety was off, shooting off Primos sticks, building the shot and - This is where all the practice pays you back. atb. Mark.

Ditto Well done lads. atb. Mark.

A nice couple of hours with the Beeman C1
mark williams replied to Jonjon79's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Aye up Jonjon Nice looking rifle but oh how right your statement of, single stage trigger promotes a quick shot style and will punish any lack of technique. The old FWB Sport mk1`s are single stage and like that but once mastered it comes together, Enjoy Jj, atb. Mark.
