  1. Cracking photos, well done and thanks for sharing
  2. Yeah, no messing around down there, I would imagine it takes a lot of nerve to stay calm and cool, anyone who dives has my respect. I can imagine how much gear must be on the wrecks, the average lure would be a couple of quid each ! The secret is knowing when the wreck is approaching and how high to wind up to miss it, yet stay close enough to be amongst the fish, and be sure to drop back down as soon as the wreck has passed to be in the scour downside, a favourite fish holding spot.
  3. Jealous, jealous, jealous, always fancied trying my hand at diving, don't think I would fancy been hooked though. We have a code, we fish the wrecks when tide is running, then at slack the dive boats normally arrive, flag up, =diver down, we stop fishing for an hour, it's not productive fishing over slack anyway
  4. Not just the freedom, although it's about the one thing in this country that's pretty unlicensed, it don't half make you feel good when all the hours of hard work pay off and you fill the freezer from a mark you found.
  5. No, I know exactly what you mean, I had a 17 as well, and I have always said the 24' and the 23's for that matter could have done with been at least a foot bigger in beam, they actually feel narrow compared to the 17, so I know exactly what your saying. I picked mine up for a song, and I do mean it was too good to be true, I just couldn't say no.
  6. Never really tried trolling, too much specialist gear to do the job right, lead core lines and such, drifting sandeels certainly floats my boat though. We have a real rocky bay not far from my mooring, and nowt better than drifting across it with a live jack or sandeel, some real nice bass in there and when they hit its like a train taking off, always gets the ticker going
  7. YAY, well done Devon, as you probably all know already, I am refurbish a Wilson 24 from the hull up, purely for my own pleasure, love sea fishing and been out the briney, know what you mean about offshore wrecks Devon, that's part of the reason I moved up to 24 foot, that and the mid channel sandbanks that hold the turbot ! I mainly drift wrecks for cod, pollock and bass, winter bait fishing for cod, mackerel, got a few pots I put out when the time and place is right. Can't seem to get any pics up on here, but I have a computer full of my boats and fish !
  8. its all about bringing people together rabid, no need to apologise mate I use to have a 24tf cobble had some great times out ,and thank you very much for the offer sir that would be great Pal, anyone is welcome out on my boat once, I used to go out all the time on my own, but it's a better craic if there is a few of you, and I am lucky enough to own a boat, not everyone is that fortunate, so more than happy for lads who fancy it to come out with me if I am going, should have plenty of space this year.
  9. its got one now mate atb Sounds good, pics, we need pics.
  10. Some real good marks there mate, I have dungeness and aldeburgh closest to me, both well known deep water cod marks, my boat is only moored a few mile from dungeness, had some stonking cod unto mid/late 20's not half a mile offshore. If you fancy a boat trip when I put my new one in the drink give me a shout, should be finished the refurb by end of the summer hopefully. i use to fish dungerness quite alot too, beach fishing was alot better when i was younger than nowadays, so i got myself a boat and used to launch it off of dymchurch, and sail round to dungy, we had some good fishing there, ni
  11. Yeah, I like cathedral hull boats, they can slam a bit in a chop due to not having the conventional v shape, but I had three big blokes (and I do mean big, 18+stone)hanging over the side of my last one photographing and releasing a blue, and it sat steady as a rock ! Perhaps we should start a boat thread, poor fella done some lovely work on his cabin, sorry single barrel, wasn't my intention to distract from all the good work you done.

  17. winter cod fishing mostly rabid and a bit of summer bassing Spot on, love me cod fishing, but mine is off me boat nowadays.
  18. I use a tracer stingray from Debden and find its excellent, bit bigger than I think your looking for, but lot smaller than the 170 Added advantage is it is variable power and full beam over 400 metres
  19. Looks smart, I started a smoker....about 5 year ago from an old compressor tank, it was coming along nicely, must get some enthusiasm back next time I get a spare minute I would love a plasma cutter, how much you boys spending on them as when I last looked they were silly money for a good one.
  20. Rabid

    Drop Long Nets

That's the exact type of thing I had in mind, good find, thanks.
  21. Thanks for the write up, always nice to sit and watch the world, many a time I have missed a rabbit or whatever as been watching something else go about its day, glad you managed to grass the Buck and find it, must have been running on nerves or adrenaline.
  22. For 8 to 10k you have plenty to choose from, you need to work out exactly what you want from it, I found that was the best way to narrow it down when I was looking, for example, I needed one that could tow 3.5 ton trailers, that was the hillux out (more was the pity)
  23. Nice, can't beat a few home comforts. What's the fishing you do ?
  24. Thanks guys, I have had an offer from a guy on here who has a box of brand new mk4 fen traps he is willing to sell, so hopefully all sorted now
