If I have to go in a field with cattle, I always make sure i'm close enough to an exit so that I could get out in time if I had to and am mindful of trees etc that I could use to "break there charge". As a child my nan used to lead bulls through her village but she never trusted cows. As a young man, I got in the way of some worried sheep and they knocked me flying, am over 6' tall and weighed a fit 15 stone at the time so cows are gonna trample me into the ground. I'm not taking chances with that

This is grabbing at straws but maybe worth a call. The dogs trust have centres in both places and ship dogs around there various centres. Might be worth a call, if they are heading that way, you never know I think I recall the dog that redneck was talking about so phone them up and tell them what the score is, you never know

I think I'd have smacked the owner one and kept the dog ! It was a woman, I just waived the fee and said "see you later Honey" - that's the dogs name, she was a regular

I was doing mobile security when a static guard hadn't called in. Turned up, jumped the gates and he rushed me, foaming at the mouth trying to stab me in the eye with a pencil. I talked him down and stayed with him all night, he was on a full psychotic episode. He was a registered schitzophrenic and hadn't taken his meds. On top of this, they put him in a place that had pics of naked women all over the show and that was one of his issues. They didn't call an ambulance because of the image of the company. A good bloke in a bad place. talked him round all night and took him home in the morning.

With dry ferret food you tend to get what you pay for, look at the ingredients and you will see the difference, on some it will say chicken and on others chicken meal etc! Ferrets have a short digestive system as they are out and out carnivores and so need good quality and high levels of protein. If you were going to feed dry cat food you would need a high quality, kitten food and that will not be cheap......look at the price of Hills Science Kitten food If your looking at different dry foods its a good idea to look into how pet food ingredients are listed, you could google that.

Sometimes its more difficult to breed something out, than something in.......................look what was done with other breeds

About 8 years ago the wind patterns changed, when you ride a bike regularly you notice these things It seems to be more windy, more often. I read somewhere that the gulf and jet streams may stay south for 50 years. I reckon a lot of its guess work but I do think a change is on the way................start a business making wellies If the salinity in the atlantic changes too much, we could be in for a very cold time, at least a holiday in Europe will be cheaper...........................we'll be able to walk there

Mine get a small tub each twice a week...they love it...good for them too... then give the tubs to the ferrets, they'll clean em up and have toys to play with.

Whats With All The Out Of Season Hunting?
Huan72 replied to lurcher666phil's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I think its about respect, or lack of it. It makes me cringe to think about pregnant animals or the very young being killed, we are not in a survival situation were survival depends on killing whatever we can get. We have the luxury of ethics, we can hunt with principle and show respect to our quarry. Its one of the few things that separates us from other animals and when we loose that respect, we demean ourselves. Time and time again, hunting with disregard to sustainability has led to extinction, imagine no more quarry, when its gone, its gone...........everyone's different but to me, the wa -
There is more in heaven and Earth than in the imaginings of man - I love that saying. Not so long ago static electricity would have been looked at as magic. Does an amoeba know that its being looked at through a microscope, I doubt it! Are we the most intelligent thing in the universe, or even the galaxy........probably not. There is no such thing as the supernatural, there are many natural things we do not know about I am sure, things we do not even yet comprehend. I have a feeling that we know as much about the universe as that amoeba knows about us! Life has taught me to keep a very open m

What makes me chuckle is that people at various places of work have been told they cant wear a cross or crucifix for fear of upsetting ethnics, but a major financial institution can positively discriminate on the grounds of religion.

Sometimes the mum will detect that a kit has a problem and like any animal can not afford to invest resources, time, milk etc in a kit that is not healthy. Sad definitely but natures way of ensuring the fit and healthy survive. Hope all goes well and all the best

I thought this was a joke at first, I checked the date and it wasn't the 1st April, I checked the article and by Christ, its real . Words fail me, I have officially given up, it appears that we have taken the first step towards an Islamic country.

Glad that your staying on, learning is a two way thing, you could come up with some great stuff and new ideas, remember just because things have been done a certain way for a long time, it dosen't mean its the best way. The more people on here with different ideas from different angles, the better, we can all learn something new Don't be afraid to post because you lack experience in hunting, you could be a natural with dogs, a catapult expert or a ferret whisperer This site covers everything so enjoy it and some of the posts on here can really brighten up a bad day

He has a topic pinned in "buy, sell or swap" under "miscellaneous", called "terrier couples". You can see some of his work on there and then send him a P.M. (personal message) enquiring about his work. He will then get back to you

Strongstuff on here makes fantastic collars, both lurcher and normal, but they are far from normal, top notch. Great service as well. I have seen quite a few collars in my time but will always go with Strongstuff now. Give em a go, your dog will thank you for it, I promise

Great place, great dogs.....................can really stretch your legs there. Hope you had a great time

Up to a certain size bass will hang around in shoals, and round here they go into the harbour and creeks with every tide. The big ones do also go into harbours and the best bait can be unusual, depending on what's generally around. Big bass around here have been caught on chicken before as all sorts of stuff gets chucked off boats, walls etc.

RIP Harvey. It was an accident, the driver should have stopped though, its the decent thing to do. Sorry for your loss.

The law is written by lawyers for lawyers to make as much money as possible. If you are Rich you are more likely to get away with an offence because you can afford the best. I find it difficult to respect a system were your chances of justice depends on your bank balance.

I have used this type of knife and they work for me. The sheath has a one handed spring release system and the rubber straps that come with it could be replaced with webbing straps if you prefer. I put vetwrap around the handle for grip. To be honest the edge will be not a touch on that Mora blade and now I have been educated I will be getting a Mora soon Having said that I will still always have the divers skeleton type as well, I find them practical, secure and a tough as old boots, "just in case" type outdoors accessary.

For fixed blades I use scuba/spearfishing knives with the skeleton handles. I just put vetwrap around the handle for grip. They are lightweight, stainless, hold a good edge if you get the right one and come with sheaths in rubber or plastic with a one handed release system. I think they are great so maybe something to consider.
