  1. I think there are so many possibilities here! If she was fine the last time she was hunting then something has happened between then and now. Hormonal change can and does cause behavoural change but I dont think that this vast difference in her attitude towards you and her fear of you would be down to that. Did something go wrong on the last outing? If so she may just be scared and reluctant to hunt! You noticed the change in the morning when you were getting the gear together and she would have definately known you were going hunting so I think that she may be associating the hunt with an unp
  2. I purchased my very first catapult today and instantly feel at home with it I have always preferred springer to pcp airguns and the back to basics approach and feel of the catapult appeals to me. It is a humble barnett strike 9 but from what I can tell it will be ok to learn the basics on? My question is simple, what type and / or strength of bands best suit this catapult to strike the balance between accuracy and potential hunting power. I am tall at 6'5" and so have a long draw and have reasonable upper body strength through press ups. I know that this is probably a very basic question to a
  3. I bought this many years ago when I think it was produced / distributed by Deben and I paid more for it then, way back in 2004/5 and it is still working just fine. Have it on my Webley Xocet at the moment and holds up fine to the spring . Modern similar units look more military and modern but for its designed purpose its great and its lasted me for 8 odd years so far and is still going strong. A real bargain at £30 .
  4. The best way to build the bond with your new ferret is through positive reinforcment, such as regular handling whilst at the same time hand feeding her treats. If you also have or use a dog make sure that all introductions are positive and reinforced with treats, by doing this you are encouraging her to enjoy being around you and any dogs that you have Ferrets are very intelligent animals and by putting the time in and treating them as so, you will enjoy a closer bond and better days out! hope this helps.
  5. I have not been on the forum for long but I think I may be able to help. His problem may be down to association, the first time out and your dog probably scared him, you chased him and he bit you! I think that unless you can change his mindset when it comes to his relationship with you, you may always have this unpredictability. I would reccomend very regular handling and to feed him treats by hand during the handling and also regular positive interaction with your dog, the one that got excited. When he bit you for the second time was your dog around, had you been handling your dog? He may ass
  6. Many thanks for the welcome's, I have been viewing the forums for a while and thought it was about time to put my hand in! I love being outdoors, shooting, dogs, ferrets and am just getting into catapults so joining seemed like the right thing to do!
  7. Hello all I have recently dusted off my air rifles after 8 years, a webley xocet xs .22 and a Logun s16 m2 and am thinking of upgrades, changes etc. I have an edgar brothers 3-12 and a nikko stirling gold crown 1.5-5 x 20 and a visit to a local gun shop showed me that things have changed some what! The scopes seem to be massive now! Anyway ive started to cammo the guns, butler creeked the scopes and am now gonna move on to bipods, well for the s16 anyway and maybe the Webley? Ferrets, i love them and am currently in the planning of their home stage, my last girl passed away 6 months
