The police in Melbourne, Australia have intercepted a plot to bomb Flinders Street Station and St Pauls Cathedral on Christmas day. quote from... ABC.net.au Commissioner Ashton said four of the five were Australian-born with a Lebanese background. "There is another suspect in this matter who will be charged that was an Egyptian-born Australian citizen. All the others were Australian-born," he said. While Premier Andrews said the planned attack was not an act of faith, One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson said the raids demonstrated why there should be a ban on Muslim immigration to Austr

A very sad day today. After several years of medical training and hard work, a very good friend of mine has been struck off after just one minor indiscretion - he slept with one of his patients and can now no longer work in the profession. What a waste of all that training and money. A genuinely nice guy and an excellent vet.

Ferreting With Tomo And Vin Part 1 And Part 2
Mister Gain replied to nottzhunter08's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Another nice couple of videos, but keep an eye on Tomo I think he's getting a fetish for rubbing his ears in the mud. Thanks for posting. -
I can relate to that mate, also the reunions... don't go to them either as they normally get a few rhinoceros skinned scabs turn up.

Sgt Blackwell Fingers Crossed For Him
Mister Gain replied to dark-destroyer-85's topic in General Talk
Us civvies just don't know what goes on in war zones, but I'm sure it's a case of 'kill or be killed'. I can remember back in the late 60's where a handcuffed Viet Cong was executed and footage was actually shown on the main news. The footage can still be seen on youtube. A reporter photographed it as well, after the shot had been fired and before the victim fell, the bullet being inside the head of the victim. -
My mother-in-law is 83, smoked since early teens and is still doing 30+ a day, and I've known her over 41 years and she has always liked a drink and she still shifts plenty of vodka each week. Unbelievable.

We don't do presents. All my years as a bomb disposal technician it used to take me 6 hours to open my presents.

Enjoyable video, thanks for posting.

Not put a tree up for over 13 years, grandkids in Aussie so don't bother celebrating. Christmas dinner the same every year, sitting at the table with a fat bird that doesn't gobble anymore...

Women indeed... mine managed to turn a brace of succulent tasty pheasants into something resembling inedible beef jerky recently. Made a few pies myself yesterday for freezing. Told her the weekend that I fancied a good old basic minced beef and onion pie, only thing is I won't eat shop bought mince, so she got 2 small trays of casserole/braising steak, which I minced. Sweated in olive oil with a finely chopped large onion, 2 oxo cubes, cracked black pepper and water. Added a pinch of salt at the end. Cooked it monday and left it in the fridge overnight. Didn't make my own pastry but use

Pound For Pound Whats Your Hardest Fighting Fish ?
Mister Gain replied to kerryb's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Must admit I was really impressed by the fight of the lowly mackerel. Me and younger brother were out in a small boat off Selsey Bill after a few flatty's using light freshwater tackle. I put on a spinner and hooked something first chuck, told my brother I think I've hooked a bass by the way it fought, bloody great mackerel must have gone over 2 1/2 lbs. Had about 10 of them, fantastic fighters, bit different to feathering with heavy sea gear. Great bit of fun. -
Your Favourite Pheasant Recipe??
Mister Gain replied to Shaddy93's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
I found this recipe on t'internet, it's based on a Rick Stein one where he uses duck, and I wouldn't mind trying it when next I happen upon a pheasant or 2. Pheasant braised in spiced orange juice (Use duck or chicken if you prefer) 1 large pheasant, oven-ready splash sunflower oil 4 cloves of garlic, peeled large thumb of ginger, peeled 1 litre freshly squeezed orange juice 5 star anise 4 red bird’s eye chillies (leave them whole) 2 lemongrass stalks 4 tbsp fish sauce 1 tbsp granulated sugar freshly ground black pepper 4 spring onions, thinly sliced 1 hea -

Plenty of salt and plenty of vinegar. Only problem around here is you can't get decent fish and chips as all the chip shops are owned by ethnics. Fish with overly thick batter to make it look big means the batter isn't cooked properly on the inside, it's stodge. Gone are the days of thick lumps of cod with flakes the size of half crowns, chips are always pale and soft.

Apparently you can. https://groceries.asda.com/product/cooking-pastes/asda-chosen-by-you-harissa-paste/910000560055 Don't know what it's like though. I get mine from a corner shop up near the high street. I normally buy 3-4 tubes of the stuff at a time.

No mate, our dumplings don't have any potato in them.

Then you start referring to the eiderdown as a duvet or quilt, it's a slippery slope.

I might test it in something small. I'd like to do some small game pies this time round rather than a massive one so that would be the ideal opportunity. Sounds like you cook some interesting stuff I worked in North Africa for 6 or 7 years and quite like cous cous although I couldn't stomach lamb for years after being on the rigs out there lol Always got a tube of harissa paste in the cupboard along with some ras el hanout I like cous cous with the tagine, but I also make a tasty mixed veg one as a separate salad dish sometimes. You can see part of it in the pressed wooden bow

Cinnamon is OK in some savoury dishes provided you don't overdo it. I use it when I cook some Morrocan tagine dishes, and 1/2 a teaspoon always compliments a beef or rabbit stefado (Greek). Goes very nice with powdered cloves in apple pies etc.

We had a balmy -1 here in south London at 5am, so I took the dog to the park in my T-shirt... surprised it fitted him.

If you are into any kind of meat/game or fowl preparation or cooking you could do worse than add Scott Rea's video page to your favourites. That said, here are a couple of his recipes for partridge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RPZiKOrc9I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu-gea_WeVw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKpwX1kqTsU

Hummingbird And Bald Eagle
Mister Gain replied to tillylamp's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
I've been within a few feet of one in a BoP sanctuary and yes, they are massive and look quite menacing. This one was on guard duty as the female was behind him on the nest incubating an egg. They do get to fly at the sanctuary. -
I would say you put a little to much water in the mix its the hardest thing to get just right ...you want just enough for the mixture to just about bind and its a lot less than you think just add a little at a time also work it as little as possible I wouldent knead it you want the lumps as they will melt out creating the lightness ...as soon as it comes together in a stiff dough that's it ready! Agree with Kanny regarding the amount of water and amount of mixing. I have in the past bought those dumpling mixes in sachets, and although they have recipe instructions the amount of w

Well spotted. I got rid of the last pair by relocating in Jan and March and have been without any since the start of this month. Currently have one coming in occasionally as it has been triggering the PIR/cameras. The effort of relocating is worth it to be without them for 9-10 months. Got plenty of them around the Eltham area, encountered one this morning when I was taking the dog to the park, let us get to about 20ft away and then kept that distance. Big dogfox with dark markings and in good condition. It didn't give a fcuk about us. I've even had one used to follow us and if my d
